- We've purchased an '89 Silver Eagle bus with all original interior, and we're driving it home today!! Find out how much we paid, how far we had to go to get it home, and what happened when we realized the bus wouldn't fit into our driveway!!
Ok, this woman is ADORABLE and the bus is awesome. I smiled through the whole video. ❤️
@Valerie McQueen Yay!! Thank you for watching. 🙂✨
Y'all made me smile all the way through! Thanks for sharing!
Me Mine So glad you liked it! 🙂
An exciting day for sure! Congratulations and enjoy!

Anytime you have a outside spotter for maneuvers..(that you cannot see or hear, in person) a set of 2 way radios is a 'must-have'.
@zymol75 YES. What were we thinking. 😬 Be prepared, folks!
The best trailways bus ever!
+Eric Gray We are looking forward to getting her out on the open road! :)
Yes! The Eagle 10 was a great bus as well!
I always wanted a Silver Eagle, glad to see this one. I hope to see more of it.
Big Bus Conversions USA I'm so glad you found us. We know that our progress is slow compared to some others...but we are happy to have the opportunity to do this, even if it's turning out to be really hard. 😂 We work on it every chance we get. And it will be an amazing home for our family when we're done!
Good Luck with your conversion. I've owned mine for over 30 years now and still well remember the day we brought it home. That was long before cell phones and RUclips! Check it out!
John Matthews That's awesome! 🙂 The gentleman we bought it from still has another old Eagle bus that he converted into a beautiful RV. It has been really encouraging to us... seeing how many other families have successfully taken on this task. Thank you for sharing!
When filling one tank be sure to open the cap on the other tank too, otherwise it will fill only partially.
From a trailwsys driver for 14 years.
Good luck
Michael
@Michael William That's an important tip. Thank you for sharing from experience. We appreciate you. 😃
Yous bus is so sikkk!!!!! Loved the video.....
@Jorge Huerta Thanks! 😎👍
Love this video! We bought a 42ft. tri-axle coach here in Australia last year. We flew from Brisbane to Sydney two days after I got my heavy rigid licence. Drove home 600 miles and loved every minute of it. I'd already checked that it would fit in our yard, but at 12 1/2 feet high it really dominates the yard! Best wishes from a new subscriber in Queensland, Australia.
@Don Coleman Very nice! Thank you so much for commenting. 🙂 I spent time in Sydney and Brisbane in my late teens...lived for a summer in Noosa with a host family. Well, it was our summer. 😂 A beautiful country with beautiful people. 🥰
Hafta say.. on the drive home.. that tail end is a good lookin bus. definitely a classy ass end!
@Sagatiaej I did heal completely. Thank you for your compassion! 💜
FROM A TRUCK DRIVER GREAT JOB .JUST REMEMBER IT RUNS ON DIESEL NOT GASOLINE. GET USED TO SAYING DIESEL.
@antwon rice Thank you! That is really good advice. We appreciate you. 👍
So true, We had one of our new drivers put gas not diesel in a coach. Not a good idea. Enjoy your great ride.
Love it !!!
@Chris Rose Thanks! 🙂
I drove these when they were new, other tan ac issues they were nice buses. Nothing rides as good as an eagle. Your is really nice , great paint, very tasteful. If you don't know already , check out Jackson Brown song "Nothing but time" , it was recorded on rolling Eagle between Maine and NJ.
Gary Desgres Oh, that is so cool! 🙂 Yeah, we plan on putting a lot of miles on this Baby. We feel so lucky to have found this specific bus...all original and in good shape. It's a marvel, really.
I'm planning my first bus purchase. I can't tell you guys how much this is inspiring me! especially since I live in Ga also.
+James Donley Sweet!! 🙂 What kind of bus are you looking for?
awesome me too! im up in charleston. Did you get the bus? tell me about it im looking at a few up in georgia!!
@@BeingBarton I would love to live in one. How much is the maintenance?
What do you do with the seats?
@@michaeledwards7796 We do not live in our bus, it is still in the teardown stage. Our project is on hold. We paid $10,000 to buy it and $1000 to transfer the title after purchase. We live in an RV right now. The goal is to get to a place where our overhead is free. But we aren't there yet. 😅
I just subscribed to your channel and hello from New Hampshire.
@Paul Johansson Hello! :)
Awesome
@Emery Mitchell Thank you :)
"you can access the FUEL tank from both sides of the bus!"
I have the digital floor plan pretty far along. I will finish it and then record me showing it off. Then I will have Esther put it in a video for you guys.
How is it going?
I can't wait any longer - it's been a year now ! 💀
HECK . . . it's been longer. Just consider, however, the work/time required for a FULL transition. Inevitably, since this may be your FIRST . . . you're on a STEEP learning curve ! Hope to see - the FINISHED PRODUCT ! 🤗🇺🇸
Thanks for giving me the bus bug we just bought our first bus a 1971 silver eagle 🚌
@Brandon Miller That is so cool! We are excited for you. 😀
When will we get some more bus up dates
@@brandonmiller3786 I would like to give good news. We were waiting until my mother passed from terminal cancer to decide what to do with our bus plans. But it turns out that I inherited her BRCA1 gene mutation, and I am hoping to have prophylactic surgeries done by Christmas. We would like to begin work on the bus again in the New Year. 🌻
Sorry to here about your mom cancer sucks but good to hear about the bus project not to many videos on eagle bus conversations to see the do’s and don’ts and good luck on the surgery 👍🏻👍🏻
@@brandonmiller3786 Thank you. Our bus project is a special thing to me...my mom was so supportive and wanted to travel with us. And we look at the bus together when we sit outside. Our bus is still here by the house, waiting for us to come work on it again. 😉
Should be getting an 85 Silver Eagle bus next weekend. Isn't running at moment, but have some guys at work that promised they will make sure it gets back to Byron. It has a somewhat conversion that may need work along with some cosmetic exterior. I will probably have to get you to tell me how many mistakes I make.
Tommy Holmes HaHa!! That is so exciting! We have so much to learn about our bus... it's a good thing we have folks (like the gentleman who sold us our bus) to help with any issues that stump us... it's a big project! I'm so glad you commented. 🙂
looks like a nice bus .6-8mpg is why they have such massive fuel tanks .Truck stops have dual pumps ,one on each side . We spend $300-$550 every time we fill up and get free showers (loves/pilot). My co driver and I drive a sleeper tractor 5k miles a week and stop every 800-900 miles to top off . Nothing beats the purr of a diesel .Just don't run the tanks too low .
@VanaConn Wow! Thank you for the head's up. :) This bus is such a beauty. Even though we have had to pause on the build this year, I can't tell you how much I love just seeing the bus in the yard. It is hidden by the tall bamboo from the road, but it is visible from the kitchen window. And we bought a portable electric pressure washer to keep her clean, but it would be really handy to use a washer at the gas station!
Aaron is brave haha
Nimbette2 He totally is! My hero. 😍
Great Advice !!! Let those other folks be in a hurry !!! I drive a bus for a Living as well as Music !!!
@Chris Rose Yes! The gentleman we bought it from was WONDERFUL! Full of great advice!
Nice coach for the price !!! Eagles are gritty coaches !!! Buy the way a school but is a bus a Eagle is a COACH !!! I had a Prevost Marathon we all most had a Eagle but it got sold on us.
@dale haggart Thank you! We are looking forward to calling this 'home' in the future...
Actually, it's not really a coach until it has been converted. This one as the they brought it home is a bus but will be a coach once they finish the conversion, not that it really matters except to the youtube police
Congratulations on what surely has the potential to be the last motor home you will ever need! Being a veteran of several bus conversions, including our own Eagle (1980)in 1988-90, I have a myriad of tales to share! I actually took a job in the shop of a bus company (as electrical and HVAC specialist) to learn more about buses from their expert mechanics! What engine and transmission is in your unit? In my opinion the hot setup is the 6V92TA engine with the Allison HT740 transmission. If it came with this from the factory, your rear axle will be a 3.31:1 ratio, and you can expect 7 to 10 MPG in typical motorhome use Best part about driving or riding in Eagles is the torsion bar suspension system. Smooth and stable. They also came with a 300- amp alternator, rated for 100% duty cycle, which is good, and use three group 31 batteries, which is also good. Send email address if you would like some in depth info, or specific answers. Although I'm in my late 70s now and retired, I still have a good bit of info. Eagle electrical systems are very well designed, little understood by most mechanics, but very dependable. The bus A/C is also pretty straight forward, and very easy to convert to the R134a freon.
+Electrical Engineering You are awesome!! We really appreciate your knowledge, and there are many, many things that we want to learn about our bus. My husband's email is aaronomics101@hotmail.com. We would love to have you as a resource throughout this process. :)
I just want a seated 40 ft Eagle 10 or 15. No conversion, no raised roof, just standard intercity configuration. One day!
#diegoaccord That sounds awesome! 🙂
Really enjoyed the videos of the bus redo,but was just wondering what happened ,was yall able to finish it havent seen anymore of the videos?
@Richard Patterson We appreciate you asking. We began this conversion project on my mom's property. She became sick. We cared for her here at the house, putting the bus on hold. And she passed away. Now, we are moving. Our closing date on a 7 acre piece of land is scheduled for this Thursday. My mom's estate is in flux, this home (and the property here) is not something we are able to keep. The bus will come with us to the new land. I can't say exactly when the work will resume...we are living in an RV now that will be our home for the time being. We update our life on the channel...just not in the bus playlist directly. You are always welcome to ask how things are going, of course. 🔧🚍
The numbers over the door (892), does denote that it’s motor is an “Detroit diesel 8v92”?
@dukebass4564 😎👍
Hello, this is Dwayne Williams. I have purchased my bus but the problem is that I talked to a company about insure it and I was told that I have to have CDL License to be insured. I have Progressive Insurance and I'm going to give them a call to see if I can get it insured thru them.
@Dwayne Williams I hope you have the same experience we did with Progressive...they were the only company we found who offered to insure the bus. And we weren't required to have a CDL license. 🤞🍀
@@BeingBarton l check with Progressive and they refer me to 3 other Insurance companies. I called the 1st company and they said that they will get back with me. Waiting for them to call me but in the meantime l got 2 other companies to contact. Thanks for your help.
Good News, the bus is officially insured thru Progressive as of today. Thanks alot Barton Family
@@dwaynewilliams6334 Yay!! Oh, that is wonderful news!! 🙌
Eagle Model 15.
Hello, this Dwayne Williams again. I have a question. When you guys got your bus, did you had to have CDL License to drive back to your house?
@Dwayne Williams We did not have to have a CDL license to drive the bus home. 🙂
@@BeingBarton Thanks. I really do appreciate it.
Hello. I'm going to purchase a Sliver Eagle Bus in the near future. Could you please tell me what insurance company you used to get your bus insured when you picked up your bus and drove it to your home? I live in Texas and the bus that I'm going to purchase is in North Carolina. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
@Dwayne Williams Very exciting!! :) We went with Progressive Insurance and did a video called 'Candid Cap: Insuring our Bus!" That you can skip to here: ruclips.net/video/RBGV-pPzhxE/видео.html
Thanks for the info. I'm insured with Progressive and I'll check the link that you sent me regarding the video "Candid Cap". Once again, thanks for sharing the info. I'm sorry that you guys had to put your renovation on hold regarding your bus but I pray that you'll be to finish it. God Bless.
@@dwaynewilliams6334 Thank you! 🙏❤
You're welcome,@@BeingBarton
Hi I found a bus like this for 2k. Please tell me you know where to find a starter & batteries. Also new tires lol. I really want to buy it
@Vanity.Luxe What a cool find! 😃 I don't have any advice on where to get a starter or batteries...or tires. But! If you call a local repair shop (that handles big rigs), they might be able to point you in the right direction. Before buying our bus, we called around the area near our home to make sure we had a place to tow it in case of a problem. We haven't had any issues requiring mechanical work, though. And the bus we bought came with good tires. When we need help, I will reach out to a local shop. That's the plan, anyway. 🤞
@@BeingBarton I'm going to call 1st thing in the morning lol I know it's going to be expensive but I just pray it's not too expensive because I fell in love with the way this bust looked at the minute I saw it
@@VanityLuxe I totally understand! We wish you the best. 🤞💙
Did you need CDL to bring it home ?
@Eric Gray We did not need a CDL license. Because it was privately owned. :)
No I couldn't enjoy it because for so long I wanted one these buses and I always see one when the money's on the short side but I ain't made at you I just wish it would change for me for once in this dam life!!
@James Lawhorn I get it. Some days it feels like things are aiming down and won't turn right side up for anything. Our bus project has been on hold for some time. I start to do work, and then a major life event happens. I hope that you get a bus one of these days. I hope we get our bus conversion done. Maybe we'll pass one another on the road someday!
Oh no
@Skylar Weatherford Hi. 🙂
He hit the mailbox😓
@Skylar Weatherford That mailbox is still wobbly, and the mark it left on the bus...sigh. We will be widening the driveway before moving the bus again!
Being Barton if you have any questions about the engine or the bus my dad has a Facebook group called vintage bus machanics if your every on FB he specializes in eagles and outher busses
@@skylarweatherford2007 Oh! That is so cool. 🙂 Thank you for letting us know. We killed the battery what felt like moments after we parked her in the driveway we made. We have to use a special battery charger now to start the bus. 🤦♀️ Our lack of knowledge is a hurdle we hope to overcome.
It's fuel not gas.
@Paul Johansson Oh, my! I'm a bit concerned that I have never stopped to consider the difference...ha!
Who the hell takes a bus on a wet lawn ? If you slowed down five or so mph you might see more of the countryside and most definitely see your fuel consumption go down meaning more mpg. Simple math my dear Watson ! Cheers
1armedguy Parking on a wet lawn wasn't our first choice...but! We hadn't put the driveway in yet. Thank God our poor planning didn't cause any long term harm. I appreciate the advice on how to get the most out of our fuel. When we hit the road again, it will surely be for a more scenic venture. :)
You're not going to get great mileage with an 8v92 no matter what speed you operate it at.
Music junked another video 👎🏻💩
@Dale olson Yes 🤦 It took me a couple of years to improve the music aspect of our videos. Some we removed...but others are still uploaded and shared. We appreciate your comment. 🌼
