I had a test ride today, I thought it was a stunning bike. Very fast, handling was great - loved chucking it into corners. The brakes were amazing, even the back brake had noticeable power. Quick shifter work perfectly & was really good even at 30-40 passing through villages. No wind on the helmet even though my head was above the screen. I didn't notice much difference between Road & Sport. At 5'11" I thought there was plenty of room to move about. I have a 2019 1050 RS & after riding a 1200RS last year I preferred mine but the 1200RR feels much different in a good way. I really loved it & would have one even at 55 years old. Great channel Chops, looking forward to the long term review.
I'm a bit of a Triumph fan, but when I saw this at the bike show my jaw dropped... what a stunning bike! And agreed, that red paint in the flesh is luscious!
Brought mine this August at a very good price and god I love it..the induction roar is sooooo addictive. I love the fact you don't see many of them about really superb motorcycle that makes me smile every time I go out..my s1000rr was just too much for the road and was always cooking me in town etc....
"They are not sure of this look?" That bike looks drop dead beauuuutiful. Its an absolute work of art. Its definatly up there, with the likes of MV Agusta, way above any bike in the market.
I like the cafe racer as a bike concept, regardless of brand. I find the style ideal for the country lanes in the UK; not as uncomfortable as a sportsbike but more business like and 'serious' than a sit up n beg ADV or naked, where you invite the wind blast right in your chest and face instead of down your head and shoulders. The slightly body forward position, more weight over the front wheel, with quasi clip ons makes sweeping and swooping through the twistys more engaging and fun, I think. I'm not one for touring, building a nice layer of flies on my visor on a great big tractor of an ADV or barge like tourer, squirming around after hours in the saddle. I can do all that in my car!
No Chopsy ! You've got me longing for this RR, I thought it might be a bit of me.......and this confirms it ! It's like a modern version of the more comfortable sports bikes of a few years ago, they were very acceptable road bikes 👍🙂
I love the look of these. I currently have a Daytona 675r and love it. Had a sit on a Speed triple RR at the dealer the other day. I like how slim these Triumphs are around the engine, even this size engine compared to 4 cylinders. Im only a little bloke so it means a lot to me.
owned for 7 weeks now, was set for the red until i saw the white in flesh. What a machine, dripping of quality & those looks! I have a readers review in the latest MCN even though i live in Australia!
It's so nice to see a bike styled so cleanly these days. Fabulous! I liked the way you broke it down as well, showed it was definitely worth a look at.
Ooooow I think this could be the next bike for me. Triumph are knocking out of the park at the moment, for 50 yo ex sportsbike rider like me who isn't ready for the Tiger 1200 yet but can't face a modern hardcore sportsbike and doesn't do trackdays anymore, this might be the perfect bike.
I am as well a 50 yo. Ex WERA, and AMA racer that last time on a bike was a race in 96. I am seriously looking at the tiger 900, rally pro. Though I have been fighting the kid in me of wanting this speed triple, or a more moderate Thruxton rs and go retro and act my age with atleast some feel of a sportbike. I am just affraid with either of the latter two the first clover leaf I hit my old demons will come out and end up hurting myself, but atleast I'll have a huge smile on my face.
Honestly looks great best looking bike to come out in awile , love all the details like carbon, too much plastic in so called premium bikes these days , numbers seem good i bet its fast as hell, cool bike
I have one, I changed the exhaust on it, the same screen as yours (powerbronze) but i also put all the aluminium color part in black. The bike is stunning now.
the suspension set globally kinda makes sense if its same rider.....and you can always alter it individually by setting up global setting stiffer or softer....it is an extra step and bit more work makes sense that whatever the rider is setting the bike up too in one mode it would transfer through the other modes....once its your bike youll figure out where you like it best but definetly more time and setup
When I first saw this I couldn't get past the looks. Kept thinking old school Yam Diversion. But now, I have to admit, it's growing on me. One thing is certain, triumph know how to make that triple sound absolutely gorgeous 👌
It's awesome have a tall bloke do reviews. I'm slightly taller and slightly heavier than Chopsy, so having thr big fella ride all these bikes has opened my eyes to new possibilities outside the adventure market.
Yes, agreed. I've noticed pretty much every other RUclips reviews seem to have tiny fellas or ladies on them, and you get no sense of how the bike will suit you. I'm 6', but getting on a bit in years, shall we say, and most young lads I see out and about, day to day, in towns and shops are a good 3 to 6 inches taller than me, so these tiny riders are not the norm, these days.
@@tonebonetones absolutely. And it's nice to see that brands like Triumph and Suzuki are starting to make their sports and naked bikes more comfortable for taller people.
There's a couple RR riders on the forum now, but it's pretty quiet, I think it's going to be a select owner's club. What nobody ever mentions is "rain mode" ... it turns the bike into a stress free 100hp ride, which is nice sometimes when you want to take a break from having to baby the throttle. It turns into a slightly less peak power Street Triple but with more torque, which actually isn't a bad configuration ...
great video chopsy i love the triumph triples great sound and torquey engine i have had a few myself as you said best of both worlds with the triple engine .
She is a beauty. BMW got me with their cafe racer and long nose fairing and round headlight. This Triumph is even more pretty and looks like it was hand built. What a beauty. Probably a tad too sporty of a riding position for my old arse.
Stunning looking bike, no power rangers sticker to spoil beautiful paintwork and carbon, would get the heat gun out and remove the owners manual stickers on top of tank, I stopped counting at 4, and speed triple sticker on side stuck on beautiful carbon ,that makes it look chavey. First Truimph that ticks all the boxes for me. PERFECT 🥰
Thanks for the review. I’ve been waiting to see you hop on one of these. I used to have an ‘06 Daytona 955i and wonder if you ever thought of doing a comparison of new vs old since this seems to be as close as we’ll get to a modern liter bike version of the Daytona.
That is a proper nice bike! I'm not a huge sporty fan but even i would have one. That sound is addictive and I don't think I've heard you love a bike as much on a review!
💯 spot on with the criticism of triumph electronics. It is not acceptable for a 2022 model bike to not have independent wheelie control and not to have fully customizable mode settings! Understand triumph that you do not know better then me how I want my bike setup !!
Lovely looking bike beautiful colour I couldn't ride with drop bars and the electronics way above my interests I'm not that bothered with overly complicated technology few options that's enough, I'd be paying for stuff I would never use,
That suspension must be more configerable than that? Even my bog standard Tiger 1200 with WP suspension has 9 levels of damping directly available in every rider mode. Further, you can disassociate damping from rider modes and have the damping level wherever you like and change it directly in the information tray without going through any menus. Lucky man to get on a demo, it is an absolutely drool bike. I sat on one at the Birmingham show, it was a less extreme riding position than my Daytona 1200, very nice.
Not struck on the looks, love it’s soundtrack👌🏽 As for the suspension, this is why I didn’t have the + version of the H2SXSE… Bit of patience and a twiddle here n there and for me, manually adjusted suspension is still the best way👍🏽…
I totally love the looks of the bike, I have sat on one at the MCN bike show unfortunately I am too tall at 6'5"! Brilliant as always keep up the good work! 👍 🏍💨💨
Chopsy. Are you saying there is not much difference in suspension stiffness between sport and road mode. If so what's the point of the electronic Ohlins?
Good morning Chopsey. She almost has a retro vibe with that rounded front end. Good to see proper brakes alongside that singing triple. Tasty bit of kit sir. Oh and 177bhp is a sweet number for a roadbike I agree. 200bhp isn't needed for road use. Most riders can't get every bhp out of a 200bhp plus bike on the road anyway. Lovely bike and comfy too. Whats not to like?
I’d be curious to see how this beauty stacks up against the Tuono. I’ve got an ‘18 Tuono and this really caught my eye. Not ready to give up that V4 though;)
Would be interested on your thoughts on this bike at the price dealers are advertising them new at the moment, circa £14k….. I won’t say what I paid but I’m picking one up on Saturday. Is it very very good value at that price?
My 2016 Triumph Thruxton R was originally a demo bike for Destination Triumph - wonder did you ever ride it chops - silver metallic. UK reg was LF16 UFD. I imported it to Ireland so its on Irish reg plates now. I recently bought a new Ducati V2 Troy Bayliss edition but it was between that bike and the Speed Triple RR. In the end the Ducati felt way more special whereas the Triumph felt like it was just a speed triple RS with a cafe racer fairing stuck on for an extra €5,000. I traded in my 2017 Triumph T120 as that bike was just too similar to the Thruxton. Still was hard to part with it though as it was so beautiful.
I’m looking at left overs on this bike at a a savings, but sitting on it for any extended period of time , in NJ traffic, May be torturous on my knees and neck, Perhaps the RS would be a more prudent way to go,?🤔
Loved that review! I also love this bike, I think it’s superb to look at. Shame about the price which is what ultimately will decide it’s fate amongst day to day riders but nevertheless I think Triumph should marvel in another superb feat of engineering. Well done and look forward to your in depth reviews in the summer. 👍🎥
" we're fully soft now lets accept that " haha! Dont worry Chopsy happens to the best of us
😂😂
This is one of the best looking bikes to come out in a while.
Looking forward to the in-depth review.
Reminds me of the Cafe Racing scene in Japan ... they retro fit out the styling

Easily one of the best looking bikes on the market at the moment, especially in that red.
💩
Morning coffee and a chopsie video !
Have to say… triumph are really upping their game now. It’s quite a range of bikes they’re putting out. Great stuff.. 👍👍👍👍
I just love the fact triumph finally made a bold colored Speed Triple again! Now make more!!

That windscreen and fairing shape as you're riding really reminds me of the Daytona.
bring back the daytona please.

Beautiful machine retro faring and all , well done Triumph .
Looks so much better in the flesh than in the pics. 👌👌👍👍👍
Oh yea Scott 🔥
How can people not like the way this thing looks? It is just AMAZING. WAY better looking the the RS.

It’s beautiful man. I hope it’s reliable 😊
I was in Woburn Triumph on Friday getting a service and in the flesh it is absolutely beautiful.
Triumph really need to offer the RS in this colour, it is simply drop-dead gorgeous 😍
Fantastic looking bike, would buy it purely on the looks

I've the rs version love it, feel ridiculously fast to me , I've seen the rr at triumph & it's bloody lovely 😍
Love a triple engine and think she's a stunning looking bike, and 177bhp more than enough for me. Cheers Choppsy

I bought the same color 1200 RR today, and it is definitely less stiff in sport mode than my 1200 RS. I think they are both pretty good
Jeff how are you enjoying the bike?
The styling with that round headlight in the cockpit fairing reminds me of Ducati sports bikes from years ago. Beautiful.
What a stunning looking bike. Excellent video as well!
Nice bike Chops not a Triumph fan usually but this one ok Thanks for sharing great watch as normal
One fellah's recently taken that bike round the N'ring in 7.23 in traffic. The bike looks, sounds and goes absolutely fantastic!
19:35 Filtrage!
Similar vibe to the MV Super Veloce I reckon. Just more of everything 😎
Great Friday Night Views! Thanks Chopsy!!
Nice one choppie!, love this bike, was considering it but got the 21 Aprilia tuono factory instead.
Lovely looking bike. That red is really impressive.
