- Chris asked for a Speed Triple RS with clip-ons and a bikini fairing, looked what Triumph had planned for 2022, the Speed triple RR.
We headed to Spain for our first ride of the new Triumph, stunning roads and the private Ascari circuit gave us a chance to really put the bike through its paces.
#triumph #speedrr #triplerr
Chris's reviews are still the best. I just wish the suspension on the RR was also on the RS and that Triumph had given us an affordable R base version of the Speed Triple.
I bet you could special order it on the RS but the price might make you think twice lol
Good point, I bet that may be in the cue for 2023
can't go back watching chaseonwheels type of review after watching Chris lol
@@bella_testastretta those aren’t reviews - Chase just rides a bike down a straight bit of road and brags about the handling of the bike…
BMW gives you it on the s1000R. I agree, triumph needs to do better on this.
Hi Chris, as an ex Australian Superbike racer, I absolutely love listening to your no nonsense, humble reviews and honest impressions. Simply Awesome! Keep up the great work you do. 👍😎🇦🇺
Agreed. He’s a real rider giving honest feedback. I’m currently tossing up between a Speed Triple RR and a Tuono Factory.
I’m really enjoying Chris’ reviews at the moment, he strikes that wonderful balance of clearly being a master of his craft with appropriate knowledge of the bikes you would expect of somebody who’s talking about something they are passionate about, and a big kid that makes him relatable. Great job sir and the rest of the team. An enjoyable 12 mins of my life.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 Master of his craft??!!
I love 44teeth more than most, but, talking shit about motorbikes , does not translate to being a Master of a craft.
@@clashcityrocker2051 have you seen the other videos he is in? To me his a pretty exceptional rider, off road riding trainer at the bmw off road skills place, ex racer, stunt rider…. Not saying he is the best of the best but from my layman’s view, he is wicked!
@@tomg8636 😂😂 I owe you and Chris an apology… you might well be right … wrong Chris.!! That’s why I name checked 44teeth… I thought this was a reply to Chris on 44teeth!!!! I have been watching a few of there vlogs today, must be getting tired!😂
@@clashcityrocker2051 yes 44theeth Chris seems like a funny guy and no doubt a better rider than me, not sure he is in the same league as this Chris though. Still it’s not a competition however you put it, I think we are spoilt with such great free content on you tube these days. Hope you are well take care and ride safe
@@tomg8636 your right he’s not in this Chris’s league… this Chris is a proper professional motorcycle journalist , “a la Neavsey” who is the daddy!!!!!
44teeth Chris is a charismatic, funny fucker that can ride a bike!
Really like Chris' reviewing style -- nice mix of the specs and the subjective. Very sensible, with no cliches or silly hype. Clearly an excellent rider too.
Chris always give a honest review on his tests. It’s makes an entertaining review to watch, there are other platforms vlogs that do reviews but they struggle to match this level. Good up the amazing work guys 👏.
Stunning! Triumph is chaining in a series of great looking bikes. I'll want a used one in 10 years, when this nomoney period hopefully has passed? Perhaps? Gotta believe in it. Yes?
Nobody will buy this bike at 21 k
And this nomoney time won't end. Face the reality, pal.
@@GeeNee25 Well... it can get worse.
@@GeeNee25 two years and this Bike is garbage .. no money time 👍🥳💵😘
Great review 👍🏻👍🏻 Although this would not be a bike I’d buy for £17k+ I’m sure it’s a great bike but there are so many great choices in that price bracket.
yep Triumph have workers who are paid with bowls of rice and then they charge the earth... rather have a Panigale V2 at 2k cheaper and much better looking........ Neavsy at MCN says the engine on this lacks character and the brake feel is shit.....oh well they'll probably paint it in special colours and charge 20K........hope quality control is good - lots of people swearing off Triumphs due to issues and poor customer after care.
@@soaruk3697 for 20k they would drop a lot of stickers on it too ;) I agree triumph was great with competitive prices. For this money I’d get something more special.
Mv agusta brutale !
I agree. 17k defo buy the cheaper V2. Strangely in 2022 with inflation / I assume lack of sales . I've just ordered a Speed RR as it's waaaaay cheaper than the V2. £14k brand-new.
I'm autistic and only watch motorcycle reviews on YT... Chris is absolutely the GOAT bike reviewer. I went out and bought the speed triple 1200 RS after watching y'alls video on it about a hundred times.
Cheers, we'll let Triumph know we sold a bike for them. 😂
That's gorgeous 😍 Just bought a new Speed Twin - if I was younger I'd have bought this instead, but after 10 years on a Thruxton my bones needed more comfort 😅
This will sell like hot cakes, not too expensive, good performance and looks the business !!
Love this, really good review thank you 👍👍
Such a great speaker, love listening to your insights. Keep up the great work
I don’t even see myself owning one of these, even if I had the money 😅 (the RS is still tasty though) but I watched it because I really enjoy knowing your thoughts on bikes. Pure class, Chris 👌
It has a very "modern-retro" look about the front fairing. I love it.
The bikini fairing kind of reminds me of the Ducati 900ss cr, I really dig it!
Delighted to have watched this video! Thanks for quality reviews, guys!!!
Thanks!
A joy to watch this guy. Nuff said
As always, I really enjoy Chris’s ability to clearly and concisely communicate his analysis of a new bike, in a way that both helps potential customers decide where the bike fits into their list of bikes to consider and also speaks directly to more experienced riders who are mentally comparing its characteristics to bikes they are familiar with. I think one type of customer for this bike would be someone who owns full-on sports bikes and loves riding them on track and who is looking for something similar with tamed down ergonomics and performance around town and on the road. I think the styling looks great, evidenced by some of the footage of the biked leaned away from the camera on track. Another thing: You always notice, hanging out trackside between sessions, that Triumph triples with good exhaust systems have a unique, fantastic sound, just as you can tell when an RSV4 or R1, or a Ducati L-Twin or V4, fly by.
Cheers Ben!
I just bought the bike in April 2024, new with 0 km on it and love it! Had the SFV4 before as well as the Panigale V2 before it and must say it trumps them both in fun, suspension and motor as well as looks. What a bike! Next stop, Sepang! ❤
Great review, thanks 👍🏻 and I must say, far more in depth than the other channels for what is really a new model.
Chris you are my favorite bike reviewer out there!
Man this bike looks so perfect for me but here in the states it starts at over $20k!
With the amount of work I've already done to my MT-10 to be a better track bike I just cannot justify spending that much money on a new bike :(
I've an MT10 and not sure I would change for this bike. Maybe the new MT10???
Love your reviews, simple and straight
Cheers
Great description and review, been teetering on buying one and I think you just sold one. Thank you Chris.
Finally been waiting over a decade
Aaron you getting one?
I like it. With things like the busa out there, having a touch of 'beast mode' in a lineup is a good idea - hope they sell well. Seems to me the 1100/1200 area works well for those who want decent power but probably don't find the track. This one should be a great canyon carver. Good move by Triumph to skip past the one liter mark.
Chris mate. Another clear, concise, pragmatic review.
Excellent, mature review. Biking needs more journalism like this. I'll be pulling the trigger on an RS in spring, but wish Triumph would announce they are fitting electronic suspension to RS in the meantime.
I have the RS, it’s an absolute blast. The mechanical suspension is very very very good. It’s actually one of my most fun track bikes! I’m not sure I’d get the RS for road though, I’d go with the Tuono or Duke in that case.
@@vtranmoto Cool. I've tried the Tuono, and it was quick, but I preferred the RS, and I'm not confident in the Aprilia build quality, and it's a quite ugly and garish - I was offered a great deal though. I've not tried the Duke, but suspect the same ;-)
@@nigelpstreet totally fair, I’ve also had the Tuono Factory. Didn’t have any quality issues with it though the new RS660 seems to be plagued with issues. Good luck on your next bike! The RS is wicked fun :)
@@vtranmoto I'm looking forward to it. I had. a Street Triple 675 for 5+ years it was so good, and just wanted same bike with more go, this will be it! Thanks for your thoughts.
Great review I just had my Tiggr8 out last night. But PLEASE let's hear more of the BIKE.
thank you! great review, great comments ,greats vid and pics like always, seems like a wonderful machine to go have fun with on the twisties, take care! Greetings from Still Bay, South Africa
Thanks!
Great job as always. I never knew that our favorite bike Journalist at MCN was so fast on track. He looked really comfortable following you there on track, and we all know you are no slouch when it comes to track riding.
That wasn't Neevsey, it was one of the Triumph test riders...
Ahhhhh. Makes sense now. Beautiful bike. Love your review style. Thanks for your fun down to earth feedback
I thought initially it was neevsey as he has a similar helmet.
I think every one would love to see you and neevsey ( the worlds 2 best bike journos) battling on track… gotta be pretty close I’d say.
Only one thing for it … fight, fight fight!!😂
The more knowledge i receive on all bikes after riding alot of different types is the appreciation for an all around great machine when it comes to anything off of the track iv figured out u can be fast on almost anything im able to run away from 80% of the sport bikes i ride with on my gf's rebel 500 on tight twisty's and flat disappear on my concourse 14 across the board and i have to put forth some effort on my 636 to stay with my buddy on his tuned Indian Scout dragging the kick stand its unbelievable what a motorcycle cycle is capable of with a good rider but love these vids and bikes and Chris ur simply a badass on everything 2 wheeled much respect and i need to see u with the @44Teeth boys more often Cheers.
I sat on one of these in earlier this year in France. I has a 2006 Daytona 675 and I loved that bike. If may get this 1200 one day. Triple
Great review. On twisty road the 200hp sportsbikes are like having a 2 foot willy, you can kid yourself, but you're only using a bit of it....can I say that ?!
Maybe you just cant handle that much so only speak for yourself.
That’s what everyone who can’t ride says
@@dbtrackz33 how often are you doing 150-160 mph on twisty roads?
@@mortaljorma69 so you can take a two foot willy?!?
Excellent review, content, perspective
Cheers!
That's a very cool package - well done, Triumph!
For me it’s looks useful on the road and on the track for who is going to , and it’s also looks really nice , well done
It reminds me of a time, where half faired sport nakeds was a thing. It's like good old Suzuki SV1000 S or Honda VTR 1000F (I have one at home). It's acceptable for longer rides (I rode a 500km day and got a bit sore wrists and knees, but nothing catastrophical) and much more at home while thrashing it. A really like the concept.
Good comparison….💪
The Aprilia Falco too! Had one, was a fantastic bike!
Well done triumph. Keep at it Norton you’ll get there too
Chris , thank you for another balanced and pretty comprehensive review. Good mix of emotions and practical facts. Best Wishes from Moscow, Russia. We will have that model available for purchase next spring too.
Beautiful! Wish I could afford one.
I think this is going to be an absolute belter. My biggest complaint of superbikes over the last 20 years is how track focussed they have become. They make massive compromises on the road for a tenth here and there on track in stock trim but if you're doing regular track days or racing it you're goign to change a lot of the bits that make it extreme anyway.
Remember the early Fireblade? It was pretty much as fast as anything on a track but it still had a boot, a comfy seat and riding position and was tractable, geared properly and made a brilliant fast road bike.
I also seem to remember it being the best selling bike for a while.
This makes me think of those. A nice, large, mostly flat torque curve from a relatively oversized engine in a chassis thats track able but road focussed.
I'm even ok with the price. Yes its high but its also got some quality kit on it to justify that price and compared to some its knocking on £5k cheaper. So you could get this and a cheap track bike with the savings.
I would like to see a slightly more stripped down version without the electronics and other bits it really doesn't need at a lower price but for now this is fine.
Gorgeous bike! Great riding.
Awesome vid, guys! Loved it.
Its alright being a skilled rider like Chris but the real talent is being able to communicate his opinions to us mere mortals who arnt track experts etc. & just enjoy the whole experience of owing & riding in all weathers & conditions in the real world. TOP MAN TOP REVIEW
Best motorcycle reviewer on youtube!
Great review! I reckon Triumph is onto a winner here - I'd have one!
There are so many awesome bikes out there today and this is definitely one of them. It truly is a golden age of motorcycling. BTW Chris, I would love to see you review the new Kawasaki KLX300SM.
What a machine!
What a price
Truly a "gentlemans sportbike", I'd love to own one.
So would i englishsteel2347 its an amazing looking bike 👍🏼
In the flesh it is one beautiful machine.
Sounds like it’s the perfect “sport” bike. They killed it with the scrambler 1200xe. Triumph makes super unique bikes that are exactly what we want.
You've really got to see this bike in person to appreciate the new look.
Papa Legba I agree 🔥
The bike design giving me mv agusta vibes. An absolute beauty none the less
I love the look of this bike, the spec is near perfect, but the price is $1,500 higher than a Tuono V4 Factory in the US. I could not resist the Italian.
Such a brilliant review...as always!
Great review! I’m an R1 guy since early 2000’s, now, with 50 years on my butt, she seems to be the perfect match. Nice approach from Triumph.
@@aethelwulfwarlord1475 thanks mate!
This is definitely in my top picks for a 2022 bike - it's just going to be down to seat time for me. I had a 2007 675 as my track bike and it was simply the best thing I've ever ridden - even after trying other purpose built track bikes. I've never had a Triumph as a "daily rider" and I don't have any experience with the dealer network or warranty claims, so it's something to consider.
If you are in cen cal or socal go to socal motorcycle they are the number 1 triumph dealer in country and my experience there has really shown why. They have taken care of me on my new speed triple 1200 RS and I payed 15 out the door no haggle
This my dreams motorcyler! 🤲🤲🤲
Mohamad Zuki you'll get it one day!
not a first ride, but its the first comment. still a win😊
Been waiting for Chris's review!
Another awesome BW review - keep it going guys and gals.
Cracking review as always
As always, a great review. 👍
Thanks Graham
What a tester love him
fantastic review chris! love the fairness as some other slam it for all the things it’s saying it isn’t supposed to be.
Gorgeous bike. The styling appeals to me more than any other Hinckley to date.
If the advertised weight is accurate -- and the tested curb weights I've seen for the RS suggest marketing honesty on that count -- it's impressive that the fairing and electronic suspension only add 1lb.
MV style Triumph, love those standard engine sound
Great video! Nice looking bike for sure!
Nice, honest review as always. BTW who is the guy behind you at the track footage? He is so relaxed at that speed...
Looks stunning!!
Chris i just hoped that ypu will introduce us all the eicma motocycle whereas now i realize you are not belong to fair we like you to ride crazy bikes on crazy roads and track. Hope you will make more review, we missed your reviews…
Greetings from turkey
Insane riding 👏👏
Want to see some insane riding, look at what we've just loaded: ruclips.net/video/ppwqwXn3k6M/видео.html
Awesome review man. That bike seems equally excellent. I think striking the perfect balance is a master-stroke from Triumph. 😊
I'm not a fan of super-nakeds and at over 50 getting a bit over superbikes. This is definitely an answer.
15.5K vs 17K - is it worth the extra money though?
The EC2 suspension on its own would make it seem so, but 17K puts you in the realms of of the new Tuono which IMO is a more interesting looking bike and definitely beats the 1200RR in terms of look and dynamics.
Always nice to have the choice. I do like the Turono and Aprilia make the best sounding engines on the market but for personal taste it take the Triumph. I just prefer the clean lines slightly retro look.
Thank you for this review. Very helpful.
Carl are you getting one?
@@jesseonamotorcycle Hahaha, no, not yet. Have a great day.
I think Triumph have got a winner, here.
Hey Bike world, Can Chris do the review of the speed twin 2021? I bet it will be much fun.
Great review Chris! Would love to hear your opinion on the norden 901!
Fantastic review as always but who is the guy riding behind you, he makes it look easy.
What a review!
Have had the last gen speed triple rs which was too stiff for anything but smooth roads it would make more sense to me to fit semi active suspension to the new RS and standard on this.
I feel like this fits Triumph more than a full on SS would overall and will probably sell better for them as well. I like the looks and riding position of it over the RS.
I bought one recently and I love scaring the shirt out of myself. A happy Texan
Thanks for the review- on point as always! This vs BMW S1000RR vs new Busa - which one is your pick for a do-it-all road bike?
Busa is still very comfortable, took a test ride a few months ago, but so are Triumphs with the optional gel seat. The Busa price is less intense as well since you can opt out of the (pointless?) gadgets, and if you really want to do it all on road the Buse has more luggage room.
Personally I'd also look at the Triumph Thruxton R if you don't want or need the gadgets, the top end speed, or as much room as the Busa has and an even more appealing price...
Sorry for adding to the complexity, just a Thruxton fan :)
@@rsajay6256 thanks for your input Jay! However I’m not too keen on the Thruxton styling - I prefer a Sportsbike DNA with more polished road manners. Hence the 3 choices above :)
Im looking at same but add in the GSXS-1000 GT. I think the Suzi Gixxus will be the one for me.
Looks great!
Would be cool to see also a Trident 660 with similiar styling for those of us who live across the pond in Tax Hell (35k GBP equiv. for the 1200 RR).
BroqHans the Trident 660 is a nice looking bike!
I havent seen it in the flesh but I think it looks stunning. I think I prefer the white though.
Good review 👍
Apache Rider are you getting one?
They really need to make a new proper +1000cc Daytona IMHO! If they do I'll buy one!
There seems to be so much competition for 2022. Doubt it will make it
Great review!
We need more bikes with this riding position. Comfortable sports bikes. I can't get on with sit up and beg nakeds, but full on sports bikes are getting a bit too uncomfortable the older I get.
No options out there >100hp.
Does the fairing do anything? Does it provide any meaningful wind protection?
I like the reviewer, I subscribed
Best Truimph since the 675. 👌
Nicely done!
Maybe should have called it Daytona 1200rr? Great review 👍Skids and wheelies he he😊
Some guy's ripped up the N'ring with one of these machines. It goes as good as it looks.
Cris and fagan best bike reviewers out there
Nice one as usual Christopher! Gotta ask, who was the guy following you on track? He seemed pretty familiar with the bike and track 😉
After now riding the RS and RR would you advise a potential RS buyer to wait for an RS with the new electronic suspension. (Road use only)
This or V2 Panigale? Leaning towards V2.
