The customer is probably a stroke survivor, Not Drunk, Slur is common, sometimes side of mouth droops and the giveaway is his right arm use is very limited. Please don't judge.
Yeah, what made me think that he's not a drunk, is that he seems far too functional, and has nicer things than someone who'd be drunk in the middle of the day would have. I'd never jump to the conclusion that someone is a drunk just based on slurred sppech alone.
I guiltily admit I first thought drunk until I paid closer attention but that doesn’t seem to be the case. He moved around and spoke like someone with stroke scenario going on.
True…..my wife had a brain bleed a year ago . It’s so much work and progress is soooooo slow. They are horrible on the victim and the caregivers. Take care of yourselves as much as possible and see your cardiologist like clockwork.
Jim or Tim seems to have had a past stroke stroke. Note his right arm and the backwards handshake. Its unfortunate but he seems to being doing his best. It can be frustrating no to be able to get your words out.
One thing that never gets mentioned is how great you have it being able to talk to customers first hand. Being in the auto industry and having to rely on a service advisor SUCKS. Keep up the awesome work Parker!
Seems like it would suck always getting second-hand information that lacks the finer details in the customer's explanation. Being able to communicate with them directly about the problem can be super helpful, I'm sure.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell at first glance. Goes with the judging a book by its cover mentality. But I agree. It looks like stroke damage or some other neurological condition
The guy is NOT drunk. He is standing steady. He is not walking all over the place. I do agree with other comments; a stoke can make a person speech impaired. The outcome of a stroke is very unpredictable; it is why doctors will perform a few test after post stroke diagnosis.
Reading these comments it’s alarming how little the average person knows how to recognize symptoms associated with a past stroke when so many are glaringly obvious here.
It’s good to see videos of people being genuinely good to others and understanding of the situation that is handled to them. This whole video is absolutely great. I didn’t even realize that the old guy had a stroke until it’s mentioned in the comments. It warms my heart to see this video
The gentleman has had a stroke. Very cool how well the mechanic understood him well. Good man and prayers to the gentleman with the stroke. I have a member of the family with the same condition. Very cool guy..very cool both of them
I had a similar experience with a no crank situation, after going over bumps. Had it towed in to a couple shops. First shop hooked it up to a scanner and fixed one issue. It still wouldn't start. For some reason it started and it was working fine. Then one day it did the same thing. Towed it to a different shop, and it started right up for him. He believed me, and told me to let him have it for a few days to check a few things. He drove it around on bumpy roads, then brought it back to his shop. Turned it off then tried turning it back on, and it happened to him. It happened to be a wire from the starter to the engine. He fixed it and made me a very happy customer.
The guy definitely had a stroke, if he was drunk and slurring that much, his eyes would be barely opened and he'd be fighting to stand up. But all the signs point to stroke, look how he describes stuff and his left are is moving but his right isn't moving at all, thats why he reached out and did the backward handshake, cause he cant use the right.
9:11 - I worked on a 3.6L with a bad Bosch ECM a couple of weeks ago. I also ordered the VIN programmed replacement from Ares and the vehicle is back up and running. After taking the old ECM apart I found out that a capacitor on the back side of the board leaked and failed. It's a common failure for the late 2000's early 2010's GM direct injection 3.6L with the Bosch engine management system.
Not just the 3.6 platforms. My V8 STS had plenty of modules shot through with corrosion that needed replacing. In my case their two part ABS modulator had the joining gasket fail and moisture intruded. Had to redo the climate control module for a bad dial. The RCDLR gets moody in the cold/damp. The electronics don't age well but have to say for the most part no issues. Just a handful of REALLY annoying ones.
Scanner Danner is the Rockstar! Nice shout out to the master. Sad that there was a lack of communication about the previous mechanic on the ECM spray cleaner incident of 2024? 😂
the battery, starter, and alternator usually are in the same circuit. so without the alternator plugged in for this case, that eliminated the starters ground. no starter ground means an uncomplete starter circuit
Matt thanx for ur patience with people....this man seams as though he's dealing with a stroke aftermath or something.....gods watching brother n he's smiling at you ❤️🇺🇲
My brother used to say " the cheapest thing first " It's not always cheap but sometimes it's simple. Cleaning and or adding an additional ground helps with the diagnostic fun. I almost always think the worst in the beginning. I appreciate your integrity and experience for solving problems.
My brother had a stroke and he had to learn how to talk and walk in fact he went for a walk and someone call the police on him lucky my brother say my name he knew my brother was so darn mad that someone thought he was drunk 😢😢
I stopped this at 4:00 because my spidy sense is screamin Alternator. We just had a similar issue with our GMC. Also the bad Alternator was draining the new battery. The owner has all the signs of a stroke, weak arm & tough to talk. Matt keep up the great work!
Previous mechanic went for the ECU and ruined it? Not surprising. When mechanics don't know what is wrong, and have limited diagnostic skills they always guess the computer.
Yes-I can relate. I pray for outcomes like this - despite all it takes to get there. It kind of makes up for all the crap you sometimes have to go thru to get it figured out.
That man survived what my grandma did not may god bless his soul and his family I know it hasn’t been easy so glad most of this comment section is so observant
I literally had something just like this happen to me. I have a 13 Chevy Sonic and it started ticking loudly. I had two different mechanics look at cause I couldn’t figure it out. They both said I needed an engine. I was like no way I am meticulous with my cars. Kept searching RUclips finally found a video where a guy had the same exact issues and it’s from the upper timing chain guide bolts backing out. Sure enough that was my issue. Literally a free fix. Best believe I put some lock tight on them bolts.
Yeah. I worked in a test lab and when the equipment didn't work or didn't pass a verification/calibration, I always had to pull the information out of the technician how it happened. I learned not to trust their opinion but to form my own opinion
Hey my man can you fix the video format when you watch you videos on the tv it is reduced to fit the screen from it being filmed vertically instead of horizontal
You probably won't see this but I have Grand Cherokee that loses its gusto when I accelerate while still in motion, like making a turn. Any ideas? It accelerates just fine from a stop.
I was wondering why was the alternator unplugged? Inspection person strikes again? People you really need to find a reputable place to take your vehicle to be inspected, oil changed, routine maintenance, any of that! Other wise a lot of these guys, a lot, will take advantge of you, or at least try to take advantage of you!🙆♂️🙋♂️

Yeah I agree if you look at the right side of his body he's unable to use it fully

It is really nice to eliminate the middleman, plus the customers trust you when you go through the diagnostic processes.

crazy that people can't differentiate between a sick man and a drunk one

What makes you think he is sick?
@@stanleyhape8427hes a stroke survivor. look at his right arm. he shakes hands backwards. droopy lip. the signs are there.

I could tell by the way his right arm seemed to have limited movement as well as the way he was walking. The backwards handshake was the first clue.

Being a mechanic isn’t just about fixing cars. It’s about making a friend too. Ask me how I know
How do you know
How do you know
Not by peeing in pools . No one wants to be your friend.
