I loved that you stuck the long screwdriver down on the parts. My father, who worked his entire life as a mechanic, did this. I had forgotten this, I am not a mechanic by trade/just barely a hobbyist. Your communication was excellent and the video was clear, concise and full of good advice. That alternator was wrecked! Thanks again

Sir, you are my hero! Thank you for being clear, concise and informative on the whys and why-nots. I also greatly appreciate that you were pointing out to us exactly what you were trying to illustrate as I'm not even close to a mechanic. I'm just trying to keep my 2005 Honda Accord on the road as long as I can. Cheers!

good info and camera angles. A quick A/B comparison of the sound at the end would have been helpful, too.

along with this, im experiencing a hard time starting my car (buzzing when i turn the key) and a variation of other things like sputtering if i accelerate too fast and difficulty with power steering in the mornings. could it all tie together possibly? or are they seperate issues

Good job! Had the bottom pivot bolt been left loose?

Thanks mate, no it was actually tight.
I did find out later however that this noise was present for over 6 months and another work shop fitted belts to try and help 😬
I don't know what to say about that but its true, this fitted belts and did not notice any damage on the alternator. 😕

Unusual damage to the body of the alternator. It may have locked up suddenly at speed and put pressure on the fasteners. Taking off the belt is handy as the engine itself is eliminated. Happy new year from the ould sod.

Hey brother, I have a noise rattle coming from my Subaru Legacy. I thought it was the timing chain tensioners but the sound is different than what they sound like. These sound more like a rattling like metal jiggling back and forth rather than the timing chain sliding on the plastic and it only happens in low RPMs around 1200 and only when I'm in Drive doesn't do it when I'm idling. I've changed both my idler pulleys and the and the serpentine belt tensioner pulley. None of which has fixed the problem. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what it is because I've yet to find a video that properly describes what's going on as far as the sound goes and what's actually wrong. Even a friend of mine that's a mechanic that lives a bit far away couldn't really diagnose it other than telling me it could possibly be the rattling of The idler pulleys. It's a 2013 Subaru Legacy 2.5 l FB25 boxer engine.. any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty useful when it comes to fixing things on my vehicles, but I'm struggling to diagnose what this is for the steps to take to fix it

May I make suggestion? Look into Crankshaft pulley( harmonic balancer) it is quite close or next to these parts ..
