Tell her it's to please her, to be more physically attractive to her, on top of being healthier, and thus, raising the whole family's quality of life (as emotions tend to always spread to close relatives given enough time or intensity).

Involve your wife in what you're doing. Get her on the 8 hour eating window with you, then try to prepare your meals and eat your meals TOGETHER. Even share in the grocery shopping and choosing the foods you'll buy for the meals. Then most importantly, be affectionate to her. Hug on her, smooches on the lips, holding her hand or putting your arm around her sometimes. I hope you get the picture. It sounds like she's just not feeling special to you as you become more attractive with your life style change... and you might not realize just how much love she has in her heart for you. I think she's just feeling left out or not inclusive in your new life style. Keep talking to her. I'm praying that things will work out for you. When most of what you see everywhere is divorce OR wild out of control singles in many short relationships, and plenty of hurting children being brought into the world then they grow up in the ugliness that's the result of the brokenness of relationships... (you see what I'm saying), it makes me want to pray for marriages... even when I don't know the people.😊 TRUE LOVE AND COMMITMENT has just fallen by the wayside SO it's not enough to just "tell her" you're not cheating... show her too. I said all of that to say... I'm praying for you and hope things work out with your wife.
FYI... since this was not a marriage counseling video😂😂, I just want to throw in that Dr Berg always post some pretty good information in these videos.😂😂

Dr Berg, I have gone through an amazing journey over the past few years.
I'm an ex rugby player, 196 cm tall and I weighed 108kg.
    Since 2008, I've had:
    Knee operation
    Shoulder operation
    Appendix removed
    Compartment syndrome operations, TWICE
Popliteal artery entrapment syndrome operation, crazy recovery period!
I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, ontop of having 2 discs completely crushed over the years of different sports, which lead to a back fusion I had a year and a half ago.
I couldn't exercise for years leading up to my back fusion, and I had chronic pain in my back. I weighed 103kg, with lost muscle and more fat.
Just before my back fusion I started doing fasting and low carb.
Fast forward to now, my gut bacteria completely fixed and my spondylitis symptoms are completely gone! My back fusion is a massive success and I feel great weighing 95kg with a 6 pack and great body composition.
I would thank you and Thomas de Lauer for my success.
I haven't posted anything like this before, sharing my story.

@TheENofficial In an 8-week trial, researchers split 34 men who were experienced in weight training into two groups and both groups were assigned the same amount of calories and protein per day. The groups only differed in the meal timing. One group performed intermittent fasting with an 8-hrs eating window, while the second group followed a normal diet with breakfast, lunch and dinner.
By the end of the study, neither group had lost lean mass or strength. However, the time-restricted group lost on average 1.6 kg of fat, while there was no significant fat loss in the normal diet group.
-> more fat loss without extra loss in lean muscle mass.

To get sore is not the stimulus for muscle growth. If you get sore, you have to have repair before growth. Maximum Mechanical load for a certain time for the high twich muscle fibers is the stimulus.
The calories 3000 per day and Protein 400-500 grams are way to high. You can only add some grams of muscle protein per day, so the rest is meabolized to glucose. So you can just skip the carbs on high protein meals.

From personal experience (been lifting weights in the strength category for 14 years now), if you do a long fast (72 hrs.) you probably can perform normally in the strength category (6 reps or less at 85-100% of your 1 rep max) on your first workout within 24 hrs. After 24 hrs., your strength will likely go down quite a bit and sure the resistance training will help produce growth hormone to prevent muscle loss and I was taking a multivitamin and getting plenty of sleep, but you will most likely not perform normally in the strength category after your first workout. Intermittent fasting, as least for me, works fine to still build strength as long as I have a meal to refuel.

Thank Dr. Berg for this video. The problem with much of the advise concerning muscle and strength gains is that it comes from the professional bodybuilding community. While there maybe a kernel of truth to much of the nutritional advise that they dispense, it really only applies to their community and not to the general public. I could be wrong about this, but this is where the notion of carb loading for muscle hypertrophy comes from. Given the high volume of exercise that the professional bodybuilding requires, along with the copious amount of performance enhancing drugs they incorporate, that extreme lifestyle necessitates high carb intake so as to elevate insulin levels to maximize muscle protein synthesis. That is partly why, for decades, people have been duped by this notion that they must eat 6 times a day, and specifically time carb intake around workouts. While this works for a bodybuilder doing grueling workouts that most people won't do, and such a dietary pattern is required for THEM to maximize the benefit of performance enhancing drugs, such advise, when extrapolated to the general population, only serves to make us insulin resistant and fat. It would be like saying that because jet fuel works well to propel a fighter jet to Mach 2, therefore, if you put jet fuel in your Honda Civic it too can reach Mach 2.

My clothes fit how they used to and now I'm back to my slim self again and my aunts aren't commenting on my weight anymore at family functions lol. Anyways now I want to step it up and start gaining muscle and look more toned and less soft/skinny-fat so I will follow this as well. 💪Hopefully it will help me again. I definitely need to better my sleep schedule since it's all out of whack and adjust some stuff here and there so thank you for this video! Now I can be more efficient 😁. And yes there are times when you fall off and get off track I've been there but NEVER GIVE UP and don't let that discourage you from your goal. You have to dust yourself off and pick up where you left off as if it never happened and you WILL see the results. It's not always going to be a straight line to the goal but that's with anything. What matters is your patience to get to the end goal and you'll get there before you know it. Just keep your eyes on the ball! 😁 Thank you so much for everything. I was on a plateau for the longest time and I never believed I could get back to my high school weight again but I saw that I can and now I bet I can gain muscle and get into even better shape than before! If i go for Intermittent Fasting and Keto and i want to gain muscle mass (like you describe in this video), but i should only consume 50-70g of carbs per day. How do i get 1500kcal per Meal? 70g carbs * 6kcal = 420kcal. So there are about 1080kcal per meal, which i have to cover with protein and fat. How is this possible?
I would really appreciate it very much, if you or other people here in the community can give me some advice :)
    Many greetings from Germany,
    Lorenz

Eating a banana or other sugary food during or immediately after a workout is the perfect time to eat it because your body is in a glycemic depleted state, therefore it actually utilises those sugars effectively rather than the carbs going through glyconeogenesis and turning into stored-fat to use when you’re in a sedentary state.
Short answer: yes, eat the banana.

    Hello Dr. Berg,
I found out very contradictory informations in your videos.
In some videos you were talking about 40g proteins per meal 3 times per day for athletes and that general requirements(300g per day) are not correct, that is too much
In this video you were saying about consumption of proteins between 6oz(170g) - 9oz(255g) per meal 2times per day which give us together 340g - 510g protein per day.
Simplified said, in some videos you would recommend to eat 120g protein per day, in this video you recommend 340 g - 510g proteins per day for athletes/muscle-builders.
    It is very contradictory.
Could you please explain me this?

    Wait, I dont understand.
You say, I need 200gramm of protein per meal, what would make 400g protein?
You say, I need 1500 calories per meal, what would make 3000 calories per day, when I make interm.fasting and training for muscle gains?
I grow in muscles and lose fat, now with on average 120g per day and around 2000 calories eaten.
The numbers seem to be a bit to high from the video, or shall I increase?
    Beeing confused now...

6-8oz of protein source, not protein. For example: 6-8 oz of red meat. No reason at all to be taking in over 100g of protein a day, that just spikes insulin even more than necessary

I'm 53 years old and have been doing OMAD for the past few months and basically eating pizza, cheesesteaks, Jersey Mike Subs, Chinese Takeout and anything I want but I've still lost weight and I'm down to my college graduation weight which is 181 lbs. at 6 ft. tall. I am also becoming more muscular and getting stronger every month - not because I am eating a lot of protein or "healthy foods" but I believe because I am getting sufficient sleep and rest between workouts. Our bodies heal themselves (and we grow stronger) when we sleep so I think that is #1. #2 is I don't work out to max effort on any set - I usually only do 80% max effort per set - this enables me to do more volume with better form... and recover quicker, IMO. It has been a very eye-opening experience for me as I always thought "max effort" and lots of protein were key to building muscle and strength.

Can anyone explain to me what dr Berg means by 6-8 ounces of protein? Because that translates to 170 to 226 grams of protein per meal. If I eat 2 meals do i multiply it by 2? That seems like an enormous amounts of protein (2-3g of protein per pound of mass in my case)
