  • In the market and wanna know what's the best zero turn mower? We got you. In this video, we've got two top of the line models in this head-to-head comparison, in the 42" EGO E-Steer (ZT4205S) and the 42" Ryobi Electric Lawn Mower with I-Drive (RYRM8021).
    We cover the nitty-gritty of the cutting efficiency, speed and performance, and the grass clippings management, but we wanted to put a heavy focus on what makes these mowers special: their drive system. Don't get us wrong though, all of these mower aspects play a huge part in crowning a model as the best zero turn lawn mower.
    In our comparison, we test the maneuverability and comfortability of the Ryobi joystick and the EGO Formula One style wheel, in hopes that we can help you decide which lawn mower is best for you.

    I have a 2017 ego push mower model. I guess I will stick with it $6000 is outrageous but it looks like a sweet ride! I have two big lawns to cut here but summers the lawns die. $6000 riding mower will just be sitting for months. Right now in the winter I could use it. Grass is thick. For $6000 I better be using it all year long.

    The biggest difference between these two is the Ego is IP4 waterproof and the Ryobi is only IP1 - NOT waterproof AT ALL!
    The Ego also has a water port on the top of the deck so you can flush the blades to clean them.

      @jimbeam4111 IP4 means it is splash proof. So if you leave the Ego out in the rain it should be fine. The Ryobi will be fried! It's not waterproof at all.

    How in the world did you figure the watt hours on the Ryobis? While the numbers for the EGO are spot on the Ryobis are off with over ten percent.
    And how did you calculate the horsepower equivalent?

    • @james2042

      The hp equivalent is provided by manufacturer. Their wh calculations are spot on. The 40v batteries are actually 36 and the 80v are actually 72.

I noticed you did mention Ryobi’s 54” price even though you weren’t comparing that model physically either. Way to drop the ball . If you fully load out the batteries in the E-Steer, it has more watt hours than the fully loaded out 42” Ryobi. That ball is just rolling away.

    The absolute worst, worst, liver-worst way to cut grass is with a rotary mower, regardless of itz turning radius. ANYBODY who cares a whit for their lawn will use a reel mower -- never a "chopper" like this one!

    • @scubatrucker6806
      @scubatrucker6806 Год назад +1

    • @ahastar1141

      Also important to consider height of cut. At a taller height reel mowers don’t always perform their best and rotary’s shine.

    Sorry but the HP equivalence is total B.S.!! The Ryobi 42 has a 100A-70volt main fuse - If all 100 amps were used (main fuses are sized for 80% load) and we use max voltage of 80, 100x80=8,000. Now 746 watts is equal to 1 hp, so - 8,000/746 = 10.724 horse power! That is NOT REAL WORLD CONDITIONS - that is giving the MAXIMUM values in Ryobi's favor, real world would be around 8.5 horsepower - FAR CRY FROM 31 HP you are advertising. FACTS MATTER.

    • @bent1208
      @bent1208 2 месяца назад

      Sorry, but wattage output for a gas lawn mower with a hydraulic pump system or a geared transmission with belt driven blades comes no where near the efficiency of a direct drive electric motor with independent motors on the deck.
      An apples to apples comparison is only possible with measuring hp at the wheels and blade deck with a gas mower.

      Just FYI, joysticks are used in a lot of heavy equipment such as dozers, graders, wheel loaders, and skid steers. When designed properly, they are very nice. However, this does not look like it was implemented properly. It needs to be mounted to the armrest and have a rather short throw to be comfortable and precise.
