If you're on pc, this game already has a fairly decent modding community that might have some of what you want.
Honestly at this rate, I’m waiting for your overall review of SZ given that you’ve had the impressions that we all feel that to an extent. This game does go the 7 yards making the Budokai Tenkaichi series feel revived but that last 2 yard stretch isn’t completed yet in how many jarring omissions there are. As an Ultimate Gohan main, my textbook example as how impact and dynamic rush cinematic styles have withered since even Raging Blast 2 is his rush super changed from Super Explosive Wave and ultimate attack comparisons. While the rush actually does come in hand as a Singles Ranked player (easy way to even the odd against a 4 bar HP high tier character) it is a go-to goofy looking attack because of that animated stock spin graphic into a ki blast volley. It’s emblematic to how SZ tried to implement a DBS moves but it simply has no sauce outside of the Saiyans’ and Fusions’ new Super variants, give or take. As for the ult, every punch had a pause, a weight to its impact, even if still snappy and frantic through the constant camera cuts per hit. It was extended too in comparison to SZ and the Kamehameha into the ground where the enemy barely stood as the finale was a chef’s kiss to heighten the destruction of the attack. Meanwhile Gohan does like, three nimble strikes into charging a general Kamehameha firing to complete it. Nowhere near hits the same, and that’s most characters on this roster sadly.
Honestly, my biggest issue with this game is the lack of good sound effects. Why do the punches feel so weak during ultimates. There’s nothing wrong with ultimate Gohan ultimate it seems like they prioritized faster and less looking spectacles for quicker ones because of online play. Which if that’s what they’re going for fine but as someone who primarily plays the game off-line, it just sucks the fun out of it. I wanna kick someone’s face in future Gohan not feel like I’m doing barely any damage. Raging blast to definitely did cinematics better.
Frost’s rush not doing chip damage to someone’s health or adding a debuff in defense is just so odd. I feel like poison effects is gaming 101. Ngl tho I feel like there are a lot of characters who could have been given unique quirks or gameplay elements (like UI dodge) that were just not given to characters. It ends up homogenizing the cast in general. In this case, I don’t know why anyone would ever pick Frost over the Frieza’s we have available from a gameplay stance, a meta stance, or from a character stance
Kind of disappointed we didn't get his first and second forms in the game, but oh well. Also I feel like he should have his buff form since Frieza taught him how to do it in the TOP, but then again he literally did 0 fighting in that form aside from getting blasted by Frieza, so I get it. 🤷
It's a good thing Frost as a character is so lackluster that no one is really bummed how dirty the game did him skill-set wise. They had such a cool opportunity to give characters poison debuff, it's not even unprecedented because ki sickness was a universal concept in the og Tenkaichi games, just have poison do -200hp/s on top of that. It's also disappointing he just has death beam and death ball, but i guess they didnt have much to work with. Arguably the most pointless character in all of dragon ball aside from Monaka.
Xenoverse Secret Poison was an Ult, and I'm pretty sure did proc some kind of debuff. Granted, Xenoverse's Vanish System worked like Storm's Substitution System, except with WAY more changes to sub out of attacks. So it was, at least in theory, harder to land Ults in that game. With it being a regular old Rush in this and an actual Skill-based Vanish System like BT games, putting a debuff, being it lowered stats or progressive health loss, MIGHT be broken. Of course, that's somewhat fixable if you just swap it and Chaos Ball, making that a Super while Secret Poison, the defining ability of the character, an Ult. Otherwise, he's just Freiza At Home.
Yeah, it's so strange there aren't any debuffs in DB Arena Fighters. At BEST you get Drain Characters like Cell or Gero, who Drain Health and Ki. No way to drain SkillPoints, no way to inflict debuffs. The only other move like this is Solar Flare, which is tied to Turtle School Characters and Cell. Why? It's not gonna be game breaking, there is not that many characters who could inflict Debuffs, anyways. In any case, Frost is probably the least used character in SZ. I'm pretty sure he is Bottom 1 usage wise, too.
Huh, I was expecting Hercule after Buu. Oh well, least we get Frieza 2. And I'm not talking about Cooler. From what I've read, this character could've been interesting, but they threw it all away. Much like a lot of Super.
Based on your implied reaction to Frost as a character in the lore, I would love to hear your thoughts on the newer parts of the series itself some day since I associate you a lot with the classic era of the series, so it's cool to see what some of the oldheads think. Frost always felt like wasted potential where he would've actually been more interesting as a benevolent Frieza like he pretended to be, and it sounds like you at least have similar ideas about the wasted potential part.
I honestly am really disappointed with Frost in this game. While I get it's easy to slap him with the "discount Freeza" moniker, I think the moveset could've been more. He had attacks from the series as well as other games that could've been used and with his rush having no debuff that's especially a problem. Also... where are his other forms? Better yet, if you're not gonna give him his other forms, why not give him some of those attacks to make a better moveset?
The only thing Frost does that could've been cool is maybe his ki smokescreen and uh him impaling and blasting Piccolo I guess? He himself legit doesn't really do anything new beyond poison, even all his "chaos" named moves are just renamed frieza ones
@@MrElite354he could call magetta like in his fight against master roshi, there's some other attacks they could have picked from that fight, and there is nothing impeding them from giving him original moves.
@@genericogeronimo2163 they could, but this of all characters is one that should have similar moves, that’s like taking the Vegeta like moves from Cabba, and even then for original moves(which he does have animations wise) I’d imagine frost is very low priority, I get you guys want everyone unique but this cannot happen with 100+ characters on a fresh game
@MrElite354 so just don't put him in the game they already cut the saga he appears, im not asking for every character to have a unique moveset but since they picked him instead of the other participants with full moveset like basil or movie characters like pikkon they should at least try to give him something interesting, and since they were gonna make him this dirty they could have at least cut how much dp he costs.
@@genericogeronimo2163 This. Really I think we're quickly seeing with Sparking Zero that this idea of making a roster that matches the size of BT3 was just insane and not one they should've gone for. They should've considered a still sizable but smaller roster with more fleshed out movesets. Then once they started putting out DLC, people could at least see that this isn't a case of hacking out content to sell later but rather you're getting more bang for your buck.
That's why I have no respect for Super... it just reheats Dragon Ball's most popular moments and characters for the most part... Frost is not even filling some kind of Freeza hole some people are having because Freeza returns in Super anyway...

@@genericogeronimo2163 Xenoverse 2’s frost is nearly the same deal except he has an actual dot and his chaos shot is the spammy version that plays out worse than Frieza, other than that he apes moves from Mira and has full power energy wave as his other ultimate, he’s one of the worst dlc characters in Xenoverse. No matter what game you bring up his moveset will suck and players of the game won’t care unless he’s dlc like XV2
@MrElite354 xeno2 at least made his beam attacks look different and actually gave him a poison mechanic, SZ not only gave him the same moves as frezza but as bonus made them worse.
@@genericogeronimo2163 You have it the other way around, in SZ Frost is actually a good character for his DP cost, in Xenoverse 2 chaos shot is pretty awful and for the longest time(perhaps still now) his poison broke raids(in a bad way, it made the boss harder) so you couldn't use it for content poison is good for, nobody uses Frost in XV2
@MrElite354 but there is no point in using him when z frezza costs the same, and just because the poison mechanic was broken in xeno2 it shouldn't be removed from all the other games, and SZ has fixed the tracking of a brunch of scatter shot moves they could simply do the same to his chaos beams.
@ SZ doesn’t have poison not because of Xenoverse 2 but because it doesn’t have any player caused debuffs and never really did, I do agree that should change going forward As for playing Frost if you like his skillset that’s enough reason to play him over Z Frieza, at least if you actually like Frost he’s actually decent as a playable character for once, I simply think it just isn’t comparable, they tried to make him slightly different in Xenoverse because he was new and they wanted to charge you for him(similar to Champa) but you can tell he didn’t get anywhere near the effort of Vados who actually has a original moveset with unique mechanics and they just made a character who frankly was considered pretty bad with moves that barely did damage In SZ other than not actually having a poison effect he just does a bunch of moves he actually did in the anime, I wouldn’t say he’s better or worse off than most
Goddamn Greg sounds so much like Chris, he has the perfect voice for slimy, underhanded villains. Sucks he's mainly cast as comedy characters and nerds. Oh, and Frost is there, too.
Sad thing is his typecasting has kinda left him with same voice syndrome in every role. It's refreshing to see him actually show range for once with Frost.

@@MrElite354 hmm OK that makes sense, I was more thinking of forms like base armor trunks or the weird in-between form of baby Vegeta with the giant shoulder fins. Personally I use these games as what-if simulators so I'd also love to see stuff like buff buu and other heroes shenanigans. If you're on pc, this game already has a fairly decent modding community that might have some of what you want.
Frost’s counter should’ve been debuffing the enemy with poison.
I deadass forgot bro was in the game
If they were afraid of the poison DoT being too much, make it slow ki or something.
Anything to make the poison needle more interesting lol
He’s favorite food is a frosty 😂
I love Frost. Lol
This is saaaaaaad for frosty the snowflake
Did he even use a Death Ball in the anime/manga?
Should've made him go 100% and fire a beam or something imo
what is it with U6 characters and stealing Z Broly's line
Too lazy to think of any other lines I guess
@redrain860
As apparently, the only one who likes Frost as a character, I'm definitely bummed.
Secret Poison did, in fact, poison you. I also think is slowed you down and slowed ki charge skills for a bit
I feel the poison should do very small chip damage for like 10 secs
Im sad the ginyu force doesn't have unique dialog with saiyman gohan anymore
Name of the bgm that plays?
Chaos Beam? Chaos Ball? Is the word "Chaos" supposed to replace "Death" to prove the fact that he's Frieza's alternate?
Yeah, it's so strange there aren't any debuffs in DB Arena Fighters. At BEST you get Drain Characters like Cell or Gero, who Drain Health and Ki. No way to drain SkillPoints, no way to inflict debuffs. The only other move like this is Solar Flare, which is tied to Turtle School Characters and Cell. Why? It's not gonna be game breaking, there is not that many characters who could inflict Debuffs, anyways.
In any case, Frost is probably the least used character in SZ. I'm pretty sure he is Bottom 1 usage wise, too.
Am I dissapointed that we didn't get his other forms?
No?
Huh, I was expecting Hercule after Buu. Oh well, least we get Frieza 2. And I'm not talking about Cooler. From what I've read, this character could've been interesting, but they threw it all away.
Much like a lot of Super.
So you’re telling me he never thought to train yet is smart enough to act like a good guy???!?&!’vvn
Im curious what you have to say about Frost as character. He wasn't very interesting & didn't add anything to the plot
When xenoverse 2 has done a better job with a character you know how lazy sparking zero devs are, i actually prefer evil frost but they only gave him a single interesting gimmick at the end of the series, and did him dirtier with the whole partnership with freeza.
@ SZ doesn’t have poison not because of Xenoverse 2 but because it doesn’t have any player caused debuffs and never really did, I do agree that should change going forward
As for playing Frost if you like his skillset that’s enough reason to play him over Z Frieza, at least if you actually like Frost he’s actually decent as a playable character for once, I simply think it just isn’t comparable, they tried to make him slightly different in Xenoverse because he was new and they wanted to charge you for him(similar to Champa) but you can tell he didn’t get anywhere near the effort of Vados who actually has a original moveset with unique mechanics and they just made a character who frankly was considered pretty bad with moves that barely did damage
In SZ other than not actually having a poison effect he just does a bunch of moves he actually did in the anime, I wouldn’t say he’s better or worse off than most
Goddamn Greg sounds so much like Chris, he has the perfect voice for slimy, underhanded villains. Sucks he's mainly cast as comedy characters and nerds.
Oh, and Frost is there, too.
Sad thing is his typecasting has kinda left him with same voice syndrome in every role. It's refreshing to see him actually show range for once with Frost.
@@redrain860 The sad thing is, I can count the roles of his I actually LIKE on one hand.
As someone who plays PVP, stuff like debuffs and cool RPG effects would be overshadowed like everything else by the unyielding strength that is SSJ4 Gogeta hitting you with one full combo into ultimate.
