    What nice slabs you have in Leicester, lol. Seriously, nice shot of Scotty. Seems to have had quite a following in Leicester as I've seen several up loads. 👍👍👍👍

      They are some nice slabs, there was a couple of people not as busy as other places along the line were and that was because you had to buy a ticket to get on the platform but was well worth it,
      Just annoying I had to move when he came through the siding and that was because I was told she was coming into th right platform.not the left but she came down the left side, but was a great to see, glad you enjoy the video

    It's a railway station. Not a train station.

      Sorry Derek, whats the difference?

    • @derektaylor2941
      @derektaylor2941 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Triumph_2000 I don't understand. What do you MEAN what is the difference? One is the correct English term for an English stopping point for trains and one is the American and Australian name for it. It would be equally wrong to call it 'le gare'.

    • @grahamwhitworth9454
      @grahamwhitworth9454 8 месяцев назад

      I prefer the term railway station but have to accept that it is illogical. Trains are stationed there just as buses are stationed at a bus station, which is not called a road station.

    • @derektaylor2941
      @derektaylor2941 8 месяцев назад

      @@grahamwhitworth9454that is an irrelevant and pointless argument. You could use the argument that because air doesn't move from airport to airport that we should call then planeports... The fact is that the grammatically correct term for the passenger terminals for trains is railway stations in the UK.

    • @grahamwhitworth9454
      @grahamwhitworth9454 8 месяцев назад

      @@derektaylor2941 I did say that I prefer the term railway station, which is correct in UK English. However, a port is not the same as a station. The former is defined by reference to the transport medium, but the latter is arguably defined by reference to the means of transport. US English may therefore be more logical in this instance.

    I feel like having the diesel engine at the back is cheating.

    • @chillingwolf
      @chillingwolf  8 месяцев назад

      Yep the diesel is just there as a back up incase of breakdown etc, it's a legal requirement so they can run on the mainline

    • @gamedeveloperstudio
      @gamedeveloperstudio 8 месяцев назад +1

      I never knew that! It's made me feel somewhat better, but it still feels like it detracts from the nostalgia of it a bit. Thanks for the info though, nice vid too! I saw this come through Derby to York a couple of years ago. @@chillingwolf

    There's a diesel pushing on the back?!! That feels a bit like cheating. If TFS needs breakdown cover at least let the diesel follow at a discreet distance!

    • @chillingwolf
      @chillingwolf  8 месяцев назад

      Yep sadly it's a requirement of network rail in order for her to run on the mainline, as if there's an issue then it can move it out of the way, but I do agree dose ruin it mind ya

    • @chillingwolf
      @chillingwolf  8 месяцев назад

      Yep a requirement for any steam locomotive on the mainline sadly

    • @martinchamberlain542
      @martinchamberlain542 8 месяцев назад

      This is a very unfortunate necessity today. As well as breakdown insurance, I think the diesel might provide train heating. We are, as a result, never sure whether or not the steam loco is getting a bit of a shove, but in some videos I have seen, it’s blindingly obvious that the diesel is doing a significant chunk of the work. ThIs all sadly detracts from the authenticity of the scene, which is a pity but I think we must be grateful that we have steam specials running on the modern railway at all. A couple of years ago I went over the S and C with Scots Guardsman with twelve coaches and no diesel, a magnificent, spirited run. I wish they were all like that!

      I spoke to the train crew of the Duchess of Sutherland on a Newcastle run and asked about the diesel.
      They said the diesel just uses enough power to pull its own weight, no more.
