I already knew Kathrine was going to die. They kept talking about her not being baptized. Angela was put under protection and survived in her mother’s belly.
Leslie Odom Jr did a terrific job as Angela’s father. He truly carried the entire film, in my opinion. The moment at 5:20 always makes me so emotional 🥲
For some reason I kept getting the feeling that “Tony” was doing bad things . I got the impression that he was going to end up being a child molester or a cheater. I didn’t like him in the beginning nor did I like him in the end. I feel his weakness is what killed his daughter.
i felt the exact same way! he kept saying the sin in his family was the reason for this, when he touched Ann as she was praying and the crucifix got hot! and lastly him making the choice with the devil! i too believe that he was molesting his daughter and that was ultimately the reason the demon was able to attach itself to her.
I think the blessing Angela received when she was in womb is what saved her life. I hate that for Katherine tho. That was crazy! Didnt deserve that! Lol sheesh.
I actually think their presence in the African country (might be kenya where pazuzu's reign of terror begins) is where pazuzu marks angela and follows her home after causing the d*ath of her mother via earthquake.
@@fmadccs86 nothing refers to that in exorcist believer even brother demons have their own style and that wasn't the case he also recognized reagens mother and taunted her implying that they know each other very well.
The more I watch this film, the more I get disappointed in the potential it had. While I did think the final exorcism scene was done really well, there is very little emotion involved knowing Katherine ends up dying. It’s sad but you feel nothing watching any of it because we barely know her or her family as characters. They’re just sidelined in the background and we’re focused on Angela and her father. This movie, while not as bad as I thought it would be,still felt like such a mess. All these ideas go nowhere and you have no reason to call it a sequel when you’re returning co-Star is barely in the movie. I’m curious to see where they go from here, but it’s off to a very rough start.
I definitely feel the lost potential too. I cared about Chris and Regan’s fate and their relationship. I also cared about Father Karras’ and his arc (redeeming, though depressing). We didn’t know everything about all the characters, but it felt more real and less contrived, less ‘Lifetime movie’. There were a lot of interesting themes in ‘Believer’ that could have been better explored, the scares felt a bit cheap, and it just wasn’t as well written.
If I may ..the reason it was focused on the feeding family Angela and her Father is because of the Title of it for one..Exorcist Believer..the believer part was about him his faith..or lack there of because of his life..Angela's father Victor was the Damien Carrass of this movie..go back to original..Damien losses his mother...Victor loses his wife..regan was a tool used to torment carasses faith by sounding like his mother's voice..(Demmy why you do this to me Demmy)..in this movie same thing the Demon uses his Daughter to imitate the voice of doctors and him making the choice..remember like merrin told Damien don't listen..they told Victor same thing..don't listen..so I hope this helped you to understand..the believer was about Angela's dad not the girls.😊
The only thing i was really upset about this movie , was when Katherine didn’t say “ I don’t wanna go to hell” like she did in the pre views …. I was waiting for her to say it and she didn’t . But this was a great movie .
They use hell for the trailer because it is more impactful when you don't know the story. They use die for the movie, because we already knew these girls went to hell and came back, there is less meaning to that line afterwards. She isn't just going to hell, she's dying and never coming back.
@@hexes5122 I agree I actually like the use for just the trailer an then this line for the movie because it foreshadows what is going to happen in the trailer we didn't have a clue which is why hell is used much more mysterious.
I truely believe that Angela's father had so much strength and will power than those of katherines parents. It even showed in the girls sense of character and of course the demon chose the easy picking because at end of the day the demon is weak and no match for the will of Angela that her mother and father instilled in her
Like what were you all expecting? This movie was nonsense, it was son unrealistic. Father deserved that and even Chris McNeill (what a terrible way to bring her back)

Soooo this is sad ASF I will admit BUT let's remember, Catherine's baptism was delayed, the other girl was blessed from the womb. Had Catherine been baptized in his name and blood the demon could have never claimed her.. this is what made the exorcist fail. Had both been equally saved the priest and all present would've had more spiritual power to remove the demon. This wasn't a group of Holly people, it was almost like reigniting an old but still good battery. Great story, will watch again 😂
Yeah so true and i always said it seem like Katherine was more possessed than Angela like they both was possessed but i notice it was more powerful in Katherine
Got to say, completely off theologically. In the beginning, Angela wasn’t even saved through Christ, but a Voodoo protection spell. Not Christian whatsoever. And in Baptist theology, you have to first confess that Christ is Lord, Romans 10:9 before Baptism. She was saved, her baptism would have been a public declaration. This movie spat on the name of God. Completely off the mark theologically. If God alone isn’t enough to conquer this evil, than what is? That was the question I had when I left theater. Then again, wouldn’t expect Hollywood to know Christ at all.
This isn’t some playground ed and lorraine where one of the best exorcists out their they just made it LOOK easy stop making exorcists look like child’s play when they aren’t
It’s common knowledge that Ed and Lorraine Warren were con artists. Also, Ed had a strange sexual relationship with his house keeper that Lorraine was fully aware of. Neither of them were exorcists either.
As much as I wanted to love Believer, I felt very underwhelmed by it and its effort to scare people. It fell into a lot of conventional and overused tropes, the woman Ann was simply annoying, it felt like a Lifetime movie at times, and there isn’t that sense of dread and fear like the original has. What they did to Chris in this film is terrible. You’d think a 50 year legacy sequel would have much more quality and heart into it 😕 One thing I did love is the voice acting. The voiceover actor who talked like Burke Dennings was especially talented. Leslie Odom Jr also delivered a great performance
I completely agree with you about Chris MacNeil. My favorite part was when the family was in church, and the girl Katherine was acting all strange right before she became fully possessed.. Helen Leahey, who was the main voiceover, has videos on RUclips.
It felt like a standalone script that the execs or producers shoehorned into an Exorcist sequel. It's just lucky that they got such a good cast; the movie as a whole was "meh" for me but it was clear that everyone was giving their all in this scene
He was scared and being her dad he panicked he was scared and chose his daughter to live but the Devil will always lie! When they took Katherine to hell in the tunnel was scary and heartbreaking.
This Ending hits hard . Now I get how everyone in the comments is upset that Katherine died and was drag to hell. I’ll admit I was mad as hell too. But remember what the demon said . “Make a choice on who lives or both of them will died”. There’s wasn’t another option left since the demon killed the priest . What would u guys have done ? Side note. They guys did an amazing performance 💯💯
regardless of the fact that the demon lied, you wouldn't do anything yourself. you know from the first exorcist movie that the demon lies to achieve his goal. He claimed that if you didn't decide, both girls would die. in reality, nothing would have happened. he also lied when he gave the parents the choice of who should live. He said "choose to live" Katherine's father said he chose Katherine and instead of the demon letting her live (as agreed) he killed her. That means he lied to achieve his goal and in the end we have another bad ending like in the first Exorcist movie with Linda Blair.
I would chose no one. plus in real life I think a demon does not has the power to kill somebody then drag them to hell. I think she would be judged first.
In this film, there's a notable trend where Christian characters are portrayed in a negative light as well as any other movies out there. The priest, depicted as a coward, is killed while praying, while the pastor serves only as a peripheral character. Additionally, a church-going father makes a selfish decision, and his daughter, who is also portrayed as a devout Christian, meets a tragic end. This portrayal is consistent with a pattern observed in many Netflix series, where Christian figures are either depicted as weak or are prematurely removed from the storyline. Interestingly, the film also features a black female character practicing some voodoo like stuff who is portrayed positively and as a cool person, adding a contrasting depiction of religious practices. This choice, along with the incomplete prayer of another father who, despite not finishing his prayer, manages to save his daughter, underscores a recurring theme in the narrative's treatment of Christian characters. So this movie is telling you that it's not God who saves you, but yourself.
It’s strange , this movie is actually very good in paying homage to the original exorcist movie but does has some flaws that I would have wanted to be changed
It's bad. It didn't have the Christanity seen in the first film. Literally the Beginning has Paganism and Diviniation in it and It embraces it. The creator of the first film would be rolling in his grave
This is why you should never believe what a demon says. Cause they always lie, always.. never believe a demon, no matter how convincing they are, cause you never what you did..until it's too late
His acting was horrible to like when he finally came in i did my best not to laugh cause his acting was not convincing at all and i felt no type of emotion 😂
Revelation 12:7-9 “And WAR broke out in heaven Michael and his angels fought with a dragon; and dragon and his angels fought but they did not Prevail, Nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.” Revelation 12:7-9 “So the Great dragon was cast out, that Serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
I didn't like Katherine's ending. If her outcome was to go to hell, the script should have shown in the first act that she didn't seem like a good person (something similar to Macaulay Culkin's character in "The Good Son"). It would be shocking, but at the same time, somewhat satisfying.
Eeeeeexactly. I agree.. essentially we saw an innocent girl go to hell in this movie and I didn't like it. Especially if they wanted to stay true to the GOODNESS of God. Just have her physically pass away and that's it at the most
Exactly. I hate it when we get movies and TV shows in which innocent characters end up not going to Heaven when they die and instead go to either Hell or their souls are just destroyed. Like on the TV show "Once Upon a Time" in which Aunt Em was gonna go wake up Dorothy from the sleeping curse with a kiss, but then she is sent to a worse place for all eternity to prevent her from doing so. Or how Robin Hood's existence ended when he sacrificed himself to save Regina. Or like the film "Drag Me to Hell". It's so upsetting when good innocent characters certain movies and TV shows are sent to Hell for eternal damnation by villains. This means Katherine will never be reunited with her parents. Her parents will spend the rest of their lives and the rest of their existence in Heaven knowing that their daughter will have endless torture in Hell. Yes, if Katherine were more of a bad person, it would have been okay. Like in the film "GHOST" with Willie and Carl when they died and were being taken to Hell after what they did to Sam. If they made Katherine more like the character Angela from "Stranger Things 4", seeing her being dragged to Hell would have been more satisfying.
Idk watching this and after, it was alright. I can see why people are upset about it but it is what it is. Nothing can be done about it now. Love it or hate it, it was alright
this ending could have been way better. don’t know why they didn’t pay any tribute to katherine at the end. the only thing shown of her was her empty seat, whereas we see the dad at his wife’s grave who died a decade ago…
Nope. The new testament tricked christians: The “Shades” (Heb. Refáim, the flaccid) are the departed persons, whose place of concourse is Sheol. Comp. Isaiah 14:9, where “the dead” are the shades, so Isaiah 26:14 (the deceased). This abode of deceased persons lies deep down under the waters of the sea and all the inhabitants of these waters, for the sea belongs to the upper world.
I don’t think it’s hell. I think she’s near the house but got put somewhere else. I think the reason the demons grab her is to pull her down into hell.
I cannot believe they made another sequel to this horror franchise. The first one gave me nightmares I can’t forget about now I’m regretting watching this scene. There’s no way I’m watching this movie the Exorcist and the IT movie is not for me. I can handle some horror films but I can watch the ones I brought up. However it did not freak me out as much when Regan had her second episode then landed in her mom’s bed. That was minor for me I know it’s not real I can watch that over and not get too scared that sits well for me but overall the franchise is far from terrifying I don’t see this being appropriate for adults in their 60s. It’s that bad I’m not overreacting and this stuff is addictive it’s disgusting
But then there’s the other catch. I don’t think the other father was technically choosing his daughter , rather he was just trying to help her resist. So if nobody made a choice then both girls would’ve ended up being taken either way, idk.
Leslie Odom's lead performance is disgusting, his face seems to have no emotion in moments of impact, absolutely not a hint of talent. He doesn't compare to Ellen Burstyn in the first movie AT ALL. The demon's voice is ok, but nothing special, flat, just a digital effect and that's it, they're not the same demons but it doesn't do justice to the incredible natural voice talent of Mercedes Mccambridge. The demonic makeup seems to be better achieved due to today's technology, but it does not attract attention, especially in the final exorcism, the lighting and scenery is poor, quite insipid, look how this was in The Exorcist of 1973, these elements They were key at the end, a dark bluish room with only a couple of lamps to give contrast light, very dramatic and terrifying. The Exorcist (1973) not only generates perfect terror, but is also a worthy example of how to make good cinema. R.I.P Friedkin and Blatty
You can’t just murder a man of god! And a child of God does not get dragged to hell even if she wasn’t baptized she is too young to make that call! People need to learn how to make movies
I don’t think that was his look. I think it was a look of conformation that Katherine was dead. He knew when Angela took that breath that Katherine’s father condemned her to hell by giving in to what the demon wanted. If you listen closely he’s the first one to figure out that the demon was playing a trick on the parents, he also says it.

Leslie Odom Jr did a terrific job as Angela’s father. He truly carried the entire film, in my opinion. The moment at 5:20 always makes me so emotional 🥲
Totally agree. I loved him this.
Yea most definitely. His performance was great 💯
Agree 100%, he was the best aspect of this movie and I hope he will be the primary protagonist for the sequels.
For some reason I kept getting the feeling that “Tony” was doing bad things . I got the impression that he was going to end up being a child molester or a cheater. I didn’t like him in the beginning nor did I like him in the end. I feel his weakness is what killed his daughter.
Jesus Christ 😂😂😂😂😂
i felt the exact same way! he kept saying the sin in his family was the reason for this, when he touched Ann as she was praying and the crucifix got hot! and lastly him making the choice with the devil! i too believe that he was molesting his daughter and that was ultimately the reason the demon was able to attach itself to her.
Damn 😂😂😂
Sick mentality in what resides in people's minds
I think the blessing Angela received when she was in womb is what saved her life. I hate that for Katherine tho. That was crazy! Didnt deserve that! Lol sheesh.

“I don’t wanna die” is so chilling
Had they kept the quote from the commercial spots where she said “I don’t wanna go to hell!” That would’ve been terrifying.
Well they supposed to making another sequel so hopefully we get that “IT” factor that was missing in this one
👏👏👏
That's exactly how he tricked the dad. Weakness and selfishness, all things of the devil and NOT of God. Literally played your own faith against you.
The demon would probably see that weakness and know he would be the first to break.
I thought both of them would survive tbh. Didn’t expect Kathrine to die. That was sad.
she is in heaven
@@lonewolf8446I don’t think to bro😂
The only thing i was really upset about this movie , was when Katherine didn’t say “ I don’t wanna go to hell” like she did in the pre views …. I was waiting for her to say it and she didn’t . But this was a great movie .
Yeah...I was hoping for a last words from her or the devil "Your daughter will burn in hell for all eternity...thanks to you daddy"
Right! It would of been more chilling to hear her say “I don’t wanna go to hell” like in the trailer 😊
She was probably just as confused. She has no idea what happen.
The “god played a trick on you” gave me chills! Good movie!!! 🎥
I truely believe that Angela's father had so much strength and will power than those of katherines parents. It even showed in the girls sense of character and of course the demon chose the easy picking because at end of the day the demon is weak and no match for the will of Angela that her mother and father instilled in her
Poor Katherine, that scene was so sad! I wished both girls could have made it out alive. The whole time, it was a trick
The dad dumb
The minute that guy laid his hands on the girls foreheads, i knew he was screwed. Still, seeing him die was just uncomfortable to watch

@@Ba1056-d4v I had the same feeling too. Great movie
Didn’t like the movie. The ending 😢. Ed and Lorraine would have won. They would have send that demon to hell. “The power of god always wins”
but in reality, it wasnt like that at all
Fortunately enough we are in reality and not some playground and God is gracious and kind
They both can live if the father never chooses. The devil is tricking them.
1:30 when the priest yells “deceiver”
Interesting I think the next film is called that
@Zaara-qh2rp Because of this film failing, they canceled the sequels they were going to make. Now they're going to make a new reboot.
Poor Katherine. Both deserved to live
Could have saved both girls if Katherine’s dad kept his mouth shut
As much as I wanted to love Believer, I felt very underwhelmed by it and its effort to scare people. It fell into a lot of conventional and overused tropes, the woman Ann was simply annoying, it felt like a Lifetime movie at times, and there isn’t that sense of dread and fear like the original has. What they did to Chris in this film is terrible. You’d think a 50 year legacy sequel would have much more quality and heart into it 😕
One thing I did love is the voice acting.
9:35 dude. that hit.
I chose you Katherine.
Yeah you got tricked, that poor girl.
The father showed a sign of weakness the demon took advantage of
He was scared and being her dad he panicked he was scared and chose his daughter to live but the Devil will always lie! When they took Katherine to hell in the tunnel was scary and heartbreaking.
He was weak.
@@lcicadahe was weak mentally
The demons were tricksters. They would have taken even just one of they couldn't have both. Never make deals with beings who never respected life.
I would chose no one. plus in real life I think a demon does not has the power to kill somebody then drag them to hell. I think she would be judged first.

The moment i saw the priest put his hand on them my first reactions and thought was " oh fk. He ded. "
It also tries to depict God is not there with you which is false Hebrews 13:5 Never will I leave you nor forsake you
Exactly and that's the whole problem
It’s strange , this movie is actually very good in paying homage to the original exorcist movie but does has some flaws that I would have wanted to be changed

that would be cool. then the movie would simply have to tie in directly with this movie.
It got cancelled
As a life-long Exorcist fan this film really impressed me. They somehow managed to make a film WORSE than ‘The Heretic.’
Katherine is a innocent girl. The devil shouldn’t drag her to hell

I haven't seen the movie but why is hell represented as water or something? I would imagine there would be fire
Well that conception you have of hell comes from Alighieri's depiction in his Divine Comedy, also it's not a real place, not to mention it's not Satan
Water represents drowning in sorrows
Nope. The new testament tricked christians:
The “Shades” (Heb.
Shades are real. I've seen them.
I haven't had a scare that sits well with me in a very long time.... And that since I became an adult
If i was Katherines father i would’ve kept my mouth shut. Katherine was being tortured by the demon and being dragged to the flames of hell

Anybody notice the look the preacher gave Victor as if he was upset Angela was the one who survived
