    It's kind of amazing to me how many creation stories share the same very specific details .. even when the disparate cultures never had any contact when those stories were laid down.

    I'm still studying everything I can about chinese mythology, but I still don't know much about it, so the first time i've heard of Nüwa was from watching Lego Monkie Kid.

    Nüwa seems like a wonderful diety. It's always nice to see when a creator actually cares about the things she has created. She seems to be very powerful as well.
    Let's not forget the turtle sacrificing his legs to help hold up the world.(I cant spell his name) I wonder if he flies around Gamera style. 🤔

    • @MystOfMythology
      @MystOfMythology  7 месяцев назад +3

      She really is, and does so much to protect her creations. The version where she gives her life to complete the sky is so powerful.
      I have no idea why, but when I read Gamera style, I read it like you would read gangnam style (op op op oppan gangnam style)

    • @nemesisofeden

      @@MystOfMythology I would agree that her sacrifice to fix the sky was beautiful. Showing a mothers strength to ensure her children are safe and looked after. Even at the cost of her own life.
      Hahahaha, well I can totally see you reading that as Gangnam style 🤣

    This is interesting if you compare it with the Norse mythology story. In their version the gods from the heavens were defeated during Ragnorok, when the people from the Underworld, Hel's army attacked the heavens, knocking down the kingdom and the 'pillars' that held up the sky. Four dwarfs, Nordri, Sudri, Austri, and Vestri (the four points of the compass), and became the "dome of the heavens". You might consider a dome looking like a giant turtle.
    The Norse mythological sites were linked to archaeological sites around Anatolia Turkey which sat at the center of the known worlds. At this time there were a few races of humans: Jotun (frost giants / celts who were warriors and fishermen), Light Elves (northern european blondes / healers and priests), Dark Elves (africans / metal workers and miners), the Vanir (Sumerian, middle easterners, artists, merchants and scholars) and Dwarves who very likely could have been early Asians who served as their craftsmen.
    Perhaps all our mythologies are all telling different parts or perspectives of the same story. That after Ragnarok / the defeat of the Anatolian mountain lords, this group of peoples moved to Asia and started anew following the cults original ways there. They found 'new pillars' who were 'legs of Ao' (apprentices / slaves or children of a famous person?) maybe Austri) to take on the roles of their previous master craftsmen. Perhaps Nuwa / the lead fertility goddess likely, couldn't find a diplomatic solution between the old gods and the earth children who fought in the wars.
    This Sun/Moon or Sol/Mani as creators are even referenced in the Greek/Egyptian Emerald Tablet where they talk about the coming of age rights to send their 'ruling caste' children down into the world to learn. That they would 'return to the heavens' to be reborn at the end of their life with tales of their deeds and what they learned to earn the right to their next lives (having a child with a fertility goddess on a mountain outpost).
    In the Norse version, there was a 'symbolic' brother and sister as the All-Father and All-Mother. They weren't always brother and sister. Just the leaders 'responsible' for the children produced by the community....by the fertility goddesses, and the men they reproduced with to reward them by 'renewing their skillset'. They believed your child would replace your role because they'd have the same potential and skillsets as the father. They believe the child WAS you reborn again because the child looked similar to the parents. It sounded like they were 'associating' their appearances with psychological traits and assigning them community roles based on it. Perhaps they all descended from one common mutation / ancestor....who did that task.
    I'm still looking into the mythology surrounding the Eye of Richat in the Saharan desert. I'm convinced this was a huge mining city...to explain why the Africans living at the center of the world were assigned responsibility for the metal working in this region....still looking for mythological stories linking this. Let me know if you find any.

    • @MystOfMythology
      @MystOfMythology  7 месяцев назад +1

      Wow that’s some fascinating comparison. Personally, I think the Eye of Richat is just a geological formation, a formation that fits a description by Plato, but I’ll be interested to see if you hear anything otherwise.

    • @keikairin2038

      @@MystOfMythology
      Well the Eye of Richat is thought to be a 'geological dome'. A dome might be related to a 'turtle'.
      There is another creation myth about a sea turtle offering its back to hold up the earth. Its in Native American Iroquois mythology. People were fighting each other for migratory lands when the great floods came. Only a survivor and a bunch of animals survived. The smallest of them devised a way to bring up earth from under the water. A giant sea turtle offered its back. The wind blew from 4 directions. The earth grew until it formed an island. It held up the whole world.
      They think this island was North America....but what if it wasn't. What if this story comes from before the ice age. We know the native peoples in the Americas migrated from Africa / Europe / Asia thousands of years ago it is possible they carried this story from their origin. We know the Eye of Richat is about 400 feet above sea level. That the winds keep the area clear of sand...so winds do travel and whip around the area.
      In Norse mythology there are '4 pillars' that hold up the world. They are also associated with compass directions. They were said to be represented by the dwarves / master craftsmen, leaders of trades and industry at the time. Austri / (Ao?) was the direction East. In Chinese mythology there are 5 mythological creatures associated with compass directions as well. The Azure (Blue) Dragon: East, the Vermilion (Red) Bird: South, the White Tiger: West, and the Black Tortoise: North and the Yellow or Golden Kilin at the center.
      Its not clear what's more important here. The animal or the color.
      The first blue dyes were thought to be from Indigos made in Asia and Africa. They think it originated in Asia in the Indus Valley. The first red dyes were thought to be red ochre. They thought Neadrathals painted their skin and clothing with it. Its found all across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Russia and Australia. Its even found in Alaska where the Native folks were known to cross into the Americas. They think some of the earliest cave paintings were in South Africa. The first white paints were thought to be lime, calcite or gypsum. There are neolithic cave paintings from France done in this paint. The first black paints were thought to be made of ash/charcoal and bones. Again we see neolithic cave paintings in France done in this paint color. The first 'gold' paints was yellow ochre. Its found used in Anatolia Turkey in ancient Catalhoyuk. This is near where we place the 'Norse' mythological origin (after the blonde light elves carried their stories further north).
      Dragons we see found in a few mythologies. Norse folks boats generally use a 'dragon' symbol and they glide along the water carried by the winds like many other mythological dragon creatures. Celtic folks often painted their faces blue in war paint colors. The bird is often associated with the Thunderbird motif and totem poles we find in North and South America. Feathers are often used in Native headdresses in all Indigenous cultures. Tigers or the largest Cats are thought to originate from Asia. People can't seem to agree on where turtles originated from. But we do see symbology of a shell like shield in African native culture that looks very turtle like when they display it with spears. The Gold Kilin at the center looks like a prehistoric horse. The chariots and horses were found in the middle east and just slightly north of there in Indo-Europe.
      The animal motif gives us a skewed idea of direction. If we consider Turkey the center (gold): the Natives of the Americas went NE (red) , Africans stayed in the SW (black), Asians went SE (white). Europeans went NW (blue). Notice if we walk around the compass this matches the cardinal directions...just tilted.
      What if these folks were 5 tribes? That met on some new island during crazy flooding? And ancient peoples remembered their 'directions' based on where these peoples travelled.
