  • I picked this transceiver up at Winterfest for one dollar. 40 meters. Superhet receiver with 455 kc ceramic filter and 2 NE602s. Crystal controlled one watt transmitter on 7039.5 kc. I emailed Jeff KA2BKG and asked him to slide up a bit to my freq. I am glad he did. Thanks Jeff.

Well, it's a nice rig. Definitely worth more than a dollar, but the intrinsic value is much more important. Someone put a lot of effort into it and it works perfectly. Simple and minimalist. Bill, you have to give the amateur radio gods a gift.

Music to my ears! CW has a great blather filter: no "uh," no "hmmm," and no politics, complaints about the XYL, or medical-history content. Just the facts, along with abbreviated pleasantries. My kind of QSO.

You said it! I’ve always said that on phone, particularly my local Houston 2 Meter FM repeater, that you don’t know if it’s the ham operator talking or the bourbon.

Ahh I really need some free time to learn the code as well. I am dying to make QSO in CW and use all the simple stuff I built so far. Nice QSO. Love the little TRX. 73, YO6DXE.

How fast are you going there? (Wpm)

About 13 wpm That's my estimate. Reverse Beacon Network says the speed of my CQs is 15 wpm.

Bill, I’d go with the beacon. It does sound closer to 15 WPM.
