    I can’t express how proud I am to see this company who so many have counted out rise to the occasion. I always knew Cadillac would be back on their way of becoming the standard of luxury but i can honestly say I was caught by surprise at the reveal of the new Escalade. It was amazing to see Lincoln rise from near irrelevance to a strong competitor amongst the luxury market back in 2018, but it’s truly remarkable to see Cadillac outdo themselves and leap-frog everyone in the industry on the level they just have. The technology, the level of refinement, the drive to improve reliability within the brand, and the caliber of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Keeping the tried and true naturally aspirated 8 cylinder powertrains and adding another tried and true Durumax diesel makes bringing this home feel like you’ve made the right decision regardless of which powertrain you choose. This will once again be the vehicle to beat in the segment. It’s been improved in nearly every way that it could be improved. Great job, Cadillac. Fantastic job, General Motors! This is true American luxury.

      mybro727 I did track down that video and that black grill is beautiful. I don’t know if you also noticed the wheels, which are also stunning. Prior to my Escalade I had a 2001 Yukon Denali, followed by a 2009 Yukon Denali, both great trucks, great quality and great looks. No complaints what so ever on my 2018 Escalade , but I agree with you GM really put some thought and effort into this Escalade and I personally think it blows everything else out there out of the water. The Navigator is nice, but this Escalade is just plain and simple above all, inside and out!

    • @mybro727

      Cocora22 I couldn’t agree more. The blacked out Sport trim with the black mesh grille on this scale of a vehicle actually looks really good. I have to admit I wasn’t very sure how a Escalade Sport would turn out but it’s very sinister and just as attractive as the Premium Luxury. It’s like a completely different novel but the same story... opulent, bold American beauty. I love the rims on the Sport a lot too. They’re much more masculine this time around. The high level of detail and quality shows in all trims.

      All they did was take a Tahoe, slap on a different grill and headlights and put a nicer interior. Not worth 100k in my opinion. Same with the navigator. I just can't justify paying 100k for a vehicle that from the side, looks the same as the vehicle it's based on. I'll give it to them as far as the interior, but they still need to at least do something to the side. Do that and I might look at one. Otherwise I'll stay with Mercedes-Benz.

    • @JohnDoe-ju9dq

      rochab77 definitely not nice as the new GLS, but with these big suvs they are meant to be used and I really baby my german cars. But with an Escalade I wouldn’t be scared to have kids spill stuff in it or get scratches in the paint, because in the end it’s still a GM product and can be fixed for cheap...

      You got that part right, but the outside looks identical to the Tahoe/suburban/yukon except for the front grill and headlights. For 100k you'd think they'd at least make it look unique instead of just taking a Tahoe and putting a different front clip on it. They nailed it on the interior but looks like they got lazy on the exterior.

    *Cadillac owns the vertical lighting.* Amen! General Motors has literally been doing the vertical lighting elements for DECADES. Now you see a little bit of everyone doing this especially for the North American market. Volvo, Hyundai, Kia, Honda, etc. GM is a leader in design amongst other things. You _know_ when you’re witnessing a modern day Cadillac approach or depart especially at night.

    • @andrewc1036
      @andrewc1036 4 года назад

      Then why did they scrap the vertical headlights?

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 4 года назад

      a c Cadillac’s *signature* vertical DRLs and taillights are what they’ve owned for decades and that has absolutely very little to do with the actual headlight modules. Name 1 Cadillac currently with a vertical headlight module. You can’t. *That’s* not exactly their signature.
      Even during Cadillac’s _Art & Science_ era, there were only two Cadillac products that actually featured vertical headlight housings which were the 2014-2020 Escalade, and 2014 ELR. The ELR was discontinued which left the Escalade as the only one left with that headlight design. The 2021 redesigned Escalade, like most of their CUV/SUV lineup, has now also adapted their new _Escala_ era design language.
      The Escalade features a much more modern, technologically advanced, and sophisticated headlight and high beam and now it’s accompanied by their new signature vertical DRLs which look much more premium. This is cohesive and compliments the rest of the new lineup. Although they’ve never actually owned vertical headlights, they still own the vertical DRL lighting.

    • @andrewc1036
      @andrewc1036 4 года назад

      @@mybro727 so are the 2019 escalade headlights considered vertical or not?
      Because the new Escalade's headlight look more like a suburban. The GMCs look better. Does any of the fancy design mumbo jumbo matter if your luxury vehicle looks like the base platform?

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 4 года назад

      a c I literally just finished explaining that. Yes, the headlights on the current Escalade are considered vertically integrated LEDs, one of very few Cadillac’s that feature this design. In fact, the current Escalade is the *only* Cadillac that features vertically integrated headlights which is why _it_ particularly is not the reason people who are familiar with the brand says “Cadillac owns the verticals”. That statement has absolutely nothing to do with their headlights as you can clearly see from the video above.💡
      This the entire point, their luxury vehicle looks nothing like the base platform interior nor exterior wise. The Escalade’s lights look nothing like the Suburban’s. I’m not sure what you’re looking at. The only similarities they share are the fact they’re both full LED setups and are horizontally designed. That’s literally it. All of the attention to details and the higher level of craftsmanship featured on the Cadillac’s exterior definitely matter when you’re paying a premium for it over the Chevrolet and GMC.

    • @andrewc1036
      @andrewc1036 4 года назад

      @@mybro727 I appreciate the very very long responses but the headlights lack character. Missed opportunity to capitalize on the signature look the escalade has become known for. They are boring and too small compared to the aggressive grill. Step backwards imo.

    Always loved the Escalade with the signature tall linear taillights. This SUV’s competition includes the Range Rover. That vehicle has a supercharger and available diesel. The ‘Sclade deserves its own SC’d 6.2L - Brembos and a diesel option as well. It should be all-out on its design and class leading. Was taken back by the huge grill and hoped it was going to be more muted but this video helps to see it less of a gang-banger’s ride and more of an element of evolutionary design. I like it. Interior is beautiful & hopefully real wood or quality materials. Good Nav and cameras and compact console shifter is perfect. Incredible vehicle.

      Cocora22 Yes, although I’m more interested in the CT5 I’ll be doing the same thing once the Escalade arrives. I must check this gorgeous machine out in person. That’s the downside of trading in, you lose money. If you can afford to wait awhile, which it sounds like you can, then see if you can get into one in a couple years off lease. You should be closer to payoff on your current Escalade then you are now and it will be a bit more affordable than it‘s MSRP at the dealership brand new. Perhaps then it’ll be a more realistic possibility.

      Wil Verk Agreed. The headlights on the current generation actually look more modern than the new Escalades headlights. Don’t know what the hell they were also thinking with that side orange reflector light. It looks horrible. The current generations orange led light pipe looks miles better than that slapped on mess. This new Escalade is the very first generation that shares the orange reflector light with the Yukon and Tahoe as well as the same headlight lighting technology. The Escalade had always had the better headlight lighting technology.
      The current generation has all LED headlights while the Yukon and Tahoe has HID headlights. The previous generation before that one had HID headlights while the Yukon and Tahoe had halogen headlights. With this new generation they all have LED headlights. I was hoping the new Escalade would had moved up to laser headlights like BMW. It seems they put no effort into the exterior this generation sadly. Guess they didn’t learn from the disastrous mistake they made with the 2019 Camaros exterior that was immediately redesigned the very next year following negative feedback.
      I would had also been fine with the new headlights had the DRLs extended to the headlights. The reason I bought my 2016 Escalade was because of the unique all vertical exterior lighting.

    I have a 2017 Escalade and my question to the exterior design guy is why you change the headlights from up and down to left right this design remember me on my first look to the Escalade is a Jeep Grand Cherokee I love the design I have on my Escalade the ice cube lights this car is almost the same as a s6 Cadillac everything else is perfect but the front lights is not a WAAAOOO to me

  • @DavidJ245
    @DavidJ245 4 года назад +25

    They should had made the DRLs extend all the way to the headlights. That would had made it stand out as much as the current Escalade. Hopefully it will look better in person. I love the front end of my 2016 Escalade more than this one. The headlights on mine make these look extremely bland. Glad they kept the long vertical tail lights so that’s a plus.
    Edit: I saw how the Cadillac designers mentioned that they asked current Escalade owners what they wanted for this new generation in terms of design. They must had ignored every ones input because I have yet to come across a current Escalade owner that loves the exterior, specifically the front end.

      David Juarez Y’all haven’t truly experienced the beauty of the new Escalade’s exterior design. These horizontal headlights look much sleeker and the attention to detail of these lights are worlds of a difference compared to the outgoing model. If these headlights are “bland” then what does that make to geico looking headlight module found on the new Lincoln Navigator?? The entire front end of this is so much more subtle and opulent. I love what they’ve done with the exterior.

      @mybro727 4 года назад +4

      Jim Gayqueer Lol. Look at the butt-hurt ass GM hater trolling away per usual. There’s nothing “experimental” about OLED technology. It’s the farthest thing from being in its “initial stages”. This technology has literally been a thing for YEARS and has substantially progressed and improved throughout that time. But you go ahead and continue spreading the bullshit fake news that somehow makes you feel better about GM leaving their competition in the dust. Lol. You’re pathetic and you’re pressed. Your comments show that.

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 4 года назад +1

      Omar I highly doubt it. Unlike Ford, GM doesn’t rush new designs to production without undergoing an extensive trial run of scenarios and screenings. What type of technical problems would this OLED screen cause that a LCD screen would be exempt from? I don’t know of any.

    • @S590573
      @S590573 4 года назад +2

      So, I work at a Cadillac dealership and I can actually give you some working info about the OLED and technology on this vehicle rather than speculation: the 2021 Escalade has a terabyte of MEMORY (partially to support super cruise) and over 70 ECU's. This vehicle has an entire electronic "nervous system" it can monitor and diagnose itself. It's been in development for over seven years.
      I haven't used it myself, but I can speak to the changes in the automotive industry. GM and Cadillac are light-years ahead of the other luxury manufacturers when it comes to the infotainment system. They learned a ton from their early failures with CUE and automakers like TESLA. Model year 20 vehicles all have OTA updates for the touchscreen and all the electronic systems of the car.

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 4 года назад +1

      Matthew Silkwood Not only that, but the Cadillac Escalade’s operating system has built in “intelligent algorithms” and temperature monitoring functionality to help negate burn-in but the system can go even further to diminish the affects of burn-in. “Display Optimization Calibration” process may be presented to the driver from time to time, which can shift the layout of the screen by a few pixels to keep the same ones from displaying similar colors for too long. There’s so much that this system can do it’s truly amazing. We’ll get a better glimpse of the new 2021 Escalade and the ESV in April.
