You're awesome Ralfy. I have watched your videos for over a year and have learned a lot about single malts. My family is from Batopilas in the high sierra in Chihuahua. Even among Mexicans Sotol is not very known. I also like that your credited the Tarahumaras the native Mexicans. Keep up the excellent work maestro Ralfy.
Dear Ralfy, I have followed many fine RUclipsrs over the years, but you are by far the easiest listening and most knowledgeable. Keep up the good work!
Love sotol! Here in the states, most Mexicans have never even heard of it. Also here in the US, we can get HdC Rustico, bottled at 45%. I intend to track down a bottle.
I appreciate an honest review of Sotol by a Scott. Having tasted the spirit myself I agree with the review and appreciate the subtle deconstruction of the spirit. I feel enlightened and educated.
My father used to bring bootleg bottles of Sotol from up in the mountains, way before it became a commercially available product, and I remember it tasted great! It left a kind of "vapor" in your mouth once you tasted it, much more subtle than tequila... Anyway, I'm glad you got your hands on it, Ralfy! Awesome video! Keep those reviews coming!
Bought this sotol a few days ago and tried it at a family dinner. My sister had a taste and looked into the glass, then went; 'Hm, it's soft yet intense' For a moment there I thought it was a Ralfy-fan who had infiltrated the family ranks.
Liked your review Ralfy, impressive that you found, knew and decided to make a review of this fantastic spirit. I have loved Sotol for lots of years. Everything around Sotol its incredible, its history, tradition, mystery and great flavours. Top work
I think a few notes were overlooked like tobacco, leather, light wood, grass and its all around smoothness and minimal alcohol burn. The Sotol pina is harvested in the winter months when the plants are under the least amount of stress from heat. For reasons still not completely understood, this is the only time of the year successful formation can take place. What are your three favorite whiskeys? What is your recommendation for a very smooth and flavorful, yet affordable whiskey?
I have a bottle of the Hacienda Platinum and I can taste the champagne yeast that's used for fermentation, I also have the Gaia Sotol and it taste similar but without the champagne flavor.
My favorite episode thus far, glad I subscribed a month or so ago. I don't base this on the spirit exactly; it is more on how I appreciate your view of spirits and the importance of expanding on new ones. Educating yourself is always fun, especially of its alcohol in a bottle!
Well, hello, you malti-faceted, malti-dimensional malti-matician. And a big thank you for introducing me to sotol! I purchased the Hacienda de Chihuahua Plata, and it is delicious! Perfect for sipping in the shade on a hot summer day. One observation: I find the sotol "buzz" to be very different from a Scotch whisky "buzz" or a mezcal "buzz." I know alcohol is alcohol, but do you also find the inebriating effects from various spirits to differ? A new category, perhaps: nose, taste, finish, buzz.
The intense subtlety perfectly describes a number a outstanding Mexican spirits. It's like mild camembert that does not lack complexity just because it is mild.
Very interesting spirit. I have never heard of the type. Not sure if anyone has told you but the 'h' in Spanish words are silent... Hence, Chihuahua is pronounced chiwawa. Thanks for the great videos like always
Thanks Ralfy, I do enjoy these trips outside the whisky world. Do you plan to venture into gin, rum, wine etc? Whilst I'm here might I float a suggestion for a new series? How about peated whiskies from distilleries not ordinarily associated with that feature? Thanks once again, keep up the good work!!
Hello, Ralfy. Could you help me with translation? I found a bottle of Dramguish single malt whisky and decided to read about the distillery. Scotchwhiskynet said - "The new distillery was built by "dry stane dyking", a centuries old method which was practised by a small number of craftsmen." Could You explain what means "the stane dyking"?
Hello Masterpfmalt has one ANEJO (AGED IN FRENCH OAK BUT SIP LENT ABOUT TIME)...ANOTHER ORO PURO ANEJO(AGED FOR 2 YEARS BUT SILENT ABOUT OAK) CAN U PLZ TELL WHICH 1 DID U REVIEW???

here is my 2 cents. i tried the silver it was the smoothest spirit I've tried so far extremely smooth and the smell was like flowers, good stuff.
thanks ralfy! im enjoying the various spirits reviews, well done!
Thank you very much. That's a realy interesting technology of building. Eco-friendly materials, even through the centuries must be more appreciated.
No Bacanora reviews? Sounds kinda interesting with the wild yeast fermentation and all.

Awesome as always, thanks for the vids! I'd love to see a quick run of a few introductory Brandy's.

Interesting.... different type of buzz
We love you, Ralfy. Greetings from México!

The H is silent, Hacienda is pronounced ah-see-end-aa

Wow Ralfy, this was so full of information, you should have been a professor. This should be voted best site of the year on RUclips.

Great video, do you plan on doing any gin reviews anytime in the future?
