    I think the third dimension 8:30 comes from the concept of 3 dimentional forms being projected into 2d planes, let's say you have a sphere that is cross by a plane, the figure projected on the plane would be a circle and its size will depend on the sphere position. Changing the Z in this case i believe would change the position of the 3d noise and what we see is the projection into a 2d plane (the screen)

    Thank you for this great and fun tutorial. I will watch it again, as i missed a couple of things towards the end. I've not watched your videos pre the help one though. so i might just need to go back. I'm really excited by this software and all it can do, and wish i'd found it sooner, but am so psyched I've found it now.

    Don't know if this is helpful, but the Z for noise has always been explained to me as like you're moving through the noise, as opposed to parallel to it. Maybe this will help others!

      Along the same lines, on the TD youtube channel they used the analogy of a block of marble. Travelling through the Z direction would be like slowly slicing through different cross-sections of the marble block

    Great tutorial thanks a lot, Had a slight issue on the way. at 13:53 when I do this I am getting circle outlines more than a god ray effect like as shown in your video. It appears to show as bigger circles instead of a beam of light. Any tips ?

      Did you make sure your circle's radius is set to 0.1? greater values will cause the circle outlines effect

      Hey! I don’t know if it’s still relevant to you or not, but I found a solution to the problem !!! In general, the whole point is in the Comp element, there you must select the add mode and you will succeed! Thanks to the author for the video

    This tutorial is great and so much fun to try completely different ideas with the same steps. I had a question that when I go to perform it is just a black screen...is this normal because there is another step before the animation is complete?

    you can imagine changing Z on a 2d noise like this: you're just seeing a "slice" of the noise in Z dimension. so it's like going through the slices in Z.

    can I input a noise file into video files to create a feedback loop?

    • @maxsoar8882
      @maxsoar8882 3 года назад +3

      yes, instead of putting a simple noise you could add a comp that combines your video file (movieFileIn TOP) and the noise TOP and then make a feedback loop that acts on your comp!
