It works perfectly with all accepted euro coins. (eventhough it says currency USD on the side). I use it to count 0.5 - 0.10 - 0.20 - 0.50 - 1.00 - 2.00 coins. Converted the values in the coin accptor to 01 for 5 cents, 02 for 10 cents, 04 for 20 cents, 10 for 50 cents, 20 for 1 euro and 40 for 2 euro. The value from the serial is calculated as: value*5 = cents. to euro i did cents/100 = Euro val.
When putting the coins through for ID, it would be probably better if you sit the device on the counter, so it wont be susceptible to minor movements and accelerations that would modify the interpretation of the coin.
The coin acceptor sends an extra even-parity bit. Instead of the more common 9600 8N1, you have to configure it to 9600 8E1 and gone are the mysterious 2nd bytes :)
great video. exactly what I was looking for... have you by any chance made a video on how to use the parameters displayed on on your computer to control specific aspects of your computer such as running a program or macros
Hello I have programmed the 3 coin acceptor to recognize 50 pence in uk. I have programmed it to output 1 pulse. In arduino I am using the pulsein example on pin 7 nothing works also where am I suppose to connect the counter pin? Any arduino example code for the coin accept-or please post.
To wire for a zero delay joystick controller some sites will tell you to cut off the Grey wires.. DO NOT .. wire both grey wires to a 12 VDC relay power side of the relay. the white wire to ground and then connect your Joy button wires to the switch side of the relay. I have found the speed of the pulses are way to fast for some encoders. I have a 6 coin programmable and it the easiest way to slowdown the pulses because of the relay EMF collapse is slower then the pulses just enough for the Joy controller to pick up the coin drop. I hope this helps someone else..
Hey man does 100 mean 1 play? I have this coin reader on my game machine. And it's R20 per play.. so I want people to insert 4 R5 coins.. does that mean I must set the coin to 25 denomination?
Sir I'm woking on a project that uses solar power to charge laptops for students so I've decided to get an Arduino micro-controller + coin acceptor + a board of 8 relays, so I want to make sure that when a student insert a coin to the coin acceptor, the coin acceptor will send a pulse to the Arduino and the Arduino will active the relay for a certain period in order to allow the student to charge his/her laptop for that period. So how can I link/connect the coin acceptor to the Arduino such that the relay activates when someone insert a coin to the coin acceptor? Please help me, if possible give me the codes for this operation.

Hi, I guess this is too late, but you need a device like a Makey Makey or a Player X PCB. If you get a Player X PCB, you can plug the signal output into the "coin" slot on the pcb and it works fine.
hello! can the 6 coin acceptor be programmed to reject the accepted coins? i do not have space for coin pocket and i would like to have the accepted coin returned in the "rejected pocket". is it possible?
Hello i know this video is old but i have problem i buy this coin acceptor and plis tell me how to connect the pc + minipac cable are strict. This is my 1 coin acceptor 4 my arcade cab ;)
As for the 6 coin type Acceptor DG 600 F when it does not accept a coin it just eats it annyways and drops it out the back like the rest, is there a way you can make it reject coins it does not accept?
+Sohave You can reject coins it does not accept, using the dip-switch (read the manuals on the sparkfun website). I'm talking about the 6-coin acceptor dg 600 F

I can't get the parallel port to work properly, it's supposed to send you a low pulse for about 100ms when it detect's a coin (on it's respective coin group pin), but the voltage of those pins ranges from 0.9v to 1.7v, and really noise on that, does anyone know how to properly use the parallel port on this coin validator?
+pacsmile There should be an electrical circuit explained in one of the documentations. It's required for your purpose. I recommend a cheap arduino on the machine, with serial. Then use the arduino to forward the values any way you want. You can even let the arduino calculate total (daily etc).
I'm using it by the Serial Port. The 6-coin thing sends serial out to my raspberry pi. I can read it. But the pulse stuff is just too low control. Parallel is not what i've tested or used.
Would be nice to have a video on setting how much time the coins are buying. I have this on a clothes dryer and need to set it for 45mins for $4.00 NZD. Anyone help?
Hi. The computer interprets what to do with each coin. There are some coin mechanisms that can be used to provide power for a certain amount of time, or you could use a device like an arduino or another computer in order to control what to do when 4 dollars is put into the mechanism. Good luck
Using a makey makey or other device, and using pulse mode, you can get each coin to act as a number of button presses. 1 dollar = 1 button press, for example.
+KrissiBT Sure dude i got it working ... what you wanna know? i have the 6-coin acceptor dg600F - add power 12vdc to the coin acceptor - add ground to the coin acceptor, and the same ground (3 way gnd -called common- to the raspberry pi gnd pin). So you have gnd like this [PI] - [CoinAcceptor] - [MainGND] - add the signal (mine is white line) to raspberry pi RXD gpio pin (P15) Put the 3th dip-switch pin to above (ON) position. Make sure your RPI is NOT printing serial to console. Now you can use Python, Xojo or another language to read serial from your PI. (baud rate default 4800 i believe mine is set to 9600)

I love how you have a laptop which is not a Mac on display next to you. Kudos.
Safety bolt, or locking pin for mounting would be a good way to not have it stolen, like a internal bracket or a masterlock/bolt/thingie.

The one with 6 coins. DG600F how do you connect this to a USB control board for MAME? I can not find info anywhere thanks.
I really hope I could come up with a reason to get one. They are awesome!

Do you can configure the output for pulses? for example coin 1 = 2 pulses, coin 2 = 5 pulses
Did you manage to get an answer to that?
I would also like to know the answer of this. If it can I will buy 2000pcs

Hello thanks for you video, how could i use it with raspberry pi ?? any video or info ??
Can we use it for Indian coins. How to programme it from computer?
how can i set this up on a raspberry pi 3 please make a video on the wiring to it i wanna use this for my arcade cabinet that ises a raspberry pi 3

Strangely in the datasheet it actually says it can go up to 8 but makes no mention of how.
Awesome sauce!
Better yet, feed the serial into an arduino that controls solenoids on the output to direct different kinds of coins into different bins.
Bonjour est-il possible de trouver une vidéo comme celle ci en français svp?
There are six LED'S on 3 coin module , what does that mean for ? can you please explain ?

So if it can only be done with 1-100 will it not work for Canadian 2$ coins?
can i get some help with the 3 coin exeptor and an arduino?

The 6 coin acceptor, can it accept coins with a hole in the center? some machines wont accept those.

It's been a long time time sisnce i asked this already, i opted to go for coin acceptors based on the MDB protocol, rather than this pulse based.

thanks
The bad thing about them is that no one has used coins for like 4-5 years now. Everything is just cards everywhere and ppl even rejecting money
What's the name of the black coin collector
Right, didn't think of that :)
hi how can I wire the coin aceptor to ipac2 controller ?
Just assign each coin type a consecutive number and interpret it in the software.
can it be programed for dollar coins?
+Rosco Pico It's made for USD currency, and works with euros too.
as long as the coin fits the slot
