Everything on this is amazing. I got the soundtrack on 12" records. The coolest thing? They look like 1930s 78rpm records, with the logos and all in the same vintage style

Im so hyped, this game is phenomenally beautiful. And the soundtrack is wonderful! I took a drawing challenge a week ago...30 drawings in a week. I was that committed to this game. Thank you to the MDHR for everything they did to make it possible. I thank them for every delay as well, because they wanted to make it better. Thank you, MDHR. For this game
More excited to hear animators who talk about games on youtube drool over the game, honestly. So looking forward to seeing analysis of the game from that angle.
This game was very well done, and honestly they should have charged more for it. The amount of work they put into making the game was ridiculous, but I appreciate every frame.
The title of this video makes it sound like a click-baity, long list of uninteresting and obvious facts, whereas this is a very interesting video about the game's development history! Thank you.
Cuphead is amazing. The art and animation left me in awe. I felt like I was controlling a Fleischer cartoon. The difficulty is brutal, but fair with pattern recognition.
1. The game is not easy. 2. The game is no simple 1000g. 3. The game is harder than granite. 4. The game is very easy if you play games like Touhou blindfolded on one life, while people spin you around in a office chair, while riding in a merry-go-round in high speed. 5. The game is hard. 6. The game is HARD. 7. Levels like Dr Kahl's Robot is Dark Souls on crack! CRACK!~
Yes, I have 135% in cuphead and nothing can get harder than the hardest gd levels. My hardest level is only nine circles yet it's harder than anything I've done in cuphead so far.
Master3530 you can’t really compare GD to Cuphead, it’s two completely different play styles. But yes, I would say SOME GD levels like bloodbath are much harder
Theodore Geary These games are not that different, it's learn, practice, and repeat for both. Also don't say *some gd levels* as most of demons are harder than hardest expert bosses.

I hated my Xbox One before I bought this game, and I still hate it. BUT... This game is amazing. Stop console exclusives. They're stupid. Every gamer with strong enough hardware should have access to any game. I don't understand why console players find pride in exclusives. I'm moving to PC soon, because they get all of Xbox's exclusives, and some of Playstation's as well. Exclusives aren't something to be praised. These companies have you prideful about something that is against your best interest as a consumer. EDIT: Yes I know it's on PC too. l'm just saying PS4 owners should be able to enjoy it as well.
Jahbari Akua man I never regret going ps4 to this day, I just wish I could play this and rare replay and Forza which I will get a Xbox some time or later right now isn't the the time but I def want this game I like how it's practically a cartoon you playing just like the new Dragonball game
Soul Savor96 I'm switching to PC. I hate how unstable and glitchy the family Xbox One is. I've worked hard enough to afford this killer 1.3k PC I'm looking at. It's also powerful enough to support my music production and video production hobby. I'm looking forward to playing more great indie games like this with no problems, as well as a few AAA titles in 1080p 60 fps on ultra! Glad you enjoy your PS4! What's Rare Replay? Also I've heard of the new Dragonball game but I can't find the name of it.
It's literally a marketing tool for people to buy their console. If everything was on one platform, nobody would buy anything else. Xbox has halo and ps4 has games like the last of us. Pc has loads of games but the triple A titles usually owned by Microsoft such as halo get saved for the express reason of selling the only platform that can play it. In other words, as long as companies value gaining money, there will never be a platform that can play every type of game.
As someone who used to be a console gamer, but switched to PC out of frustration, I can tell you this: It was the best gaming-related idea I ever had. It's the selection, you see. I was tired of just seeing the same boring AAA crap over and over, which I'd stopped being impressed by (there are exceptions though). So I switched, got into indie games instead, which meant PC since that's where 99% of them are. Went from buying games only very rarely, to buying very frequently. And getting better value. Which even after all this time seems odd to me... I could buy a $60 AAA game and get like, 8 hours out of it maybe, and a "meh" experience, or I could pay $10 or even less for something that I end up getting 500 hours out of. Kinda says that more than a few things are wrong with the AAA side of the industry. That's enough of me ranting about that though. Good luck with your new PC when you get it! And hey, one benefit of going from the XBone to that, you can easily use that controller on your PC without trouble. I use a PS4 controller myself, for the PC, and while it works wonderfully it can be a giant pain to set up with some games every now and then. Windows itself isnt too fond of it, naturally.
Misery I love indie games too. On PC it's pretty much all I play (I mostly gravitated to them because that's all my PC could run at the time, but now I rarely buy AAA titles and when I do I'm almost always disappointed.), but when I get this PC, I'll be playing everything from my lightest indie games (simple games like Devil Daggers and Dino Run) all the way to my heaviest indie games (Carmageddon: Max Damage or Space Engineers) on max with at least 100 fps. I will also be throwing my favorite AAA titles of the last few years in as well (RB6 Siege, BF1, maybe GTA 5 for singleplayer mods, and a couple others), and adding my favorite game I have on console to my PC as well: Rocket League. Btw I'm going with an i7-7700K & GTX 1070 8gb build with 16 GB RAM. Almost done saving.
QUICK QUESTION: Is this game owned by Microsoft? Will we EVER see it release on PS4 or Vita or Switch or 3DS? Indie games like Undertale and The Binding of Isaac released for multiple consoles after exclusively only available for a specific platform. Please let me know! Thank you!
Nick Hadlick if you have a working pc it will work any pc will do also no it won't come for 3ds and visa sense they are garbage on a technical standpoint I believe this is where it will stay as an exclusive but it may change after a month or two but don't get your hopes up
LifelessHawk Right on thank you! I will spread the word because I've heard so many PS and Switch owners cry out to own this game, when they could use their PC all along!Thank I've been informed that Cuphead is a "forever exclusive" because Microsoft funded the project immensely and turned a team of two brothers into an army. But..... never say never, this exact case HAS in fact(over a looong time)been proven to break the boundaries and be re-released years later for opposing consoles. This happens when the"mother", in this case being Microsoft, reaps the benefits until the exclusive game isn't pulling in much revenue anymore. Then, said"mother"company allows for the release of the game on the competition whilst receiving a percentage which boosts the income up past the dwindling sales the exclusive console owners now view as old news and an afterthought. Publishers LOVE to milk a development company's tits dry. Money has taken super successful exclusives to the gaming multiverse so many times, great example is Resident Evil 4. Thanks again sorry for the rant
I actually did comment how the co op would be perfectly suited for the switch, but since the project began before even the NX was announced there was no way.
Unoriginal Channel Name Very true! I guess Microsoft funded the project immensely and is the key factor in making the game as visionary sound as possible. Good call
Luhmero it’s not. cuphead is influenced by cartoons from the 20s,30s and even 80s. this is all simple stuff that requires no further explaining and frankly shouldn’t have in the first place.
Thanks for the tip about Swing You Sinners! I can't believe I hadn't watched that before. It's absolutely beautiful! Now I have to decide whether I unpause your video and finish watching it, or go back to that cartoon and hit the "replay" button.
I am so ecstatic you mentioned Contra: Hard Corps. That thing is so underrated and I was gagging when I saw the Blimp boss battle cuz Contra:Hard Corps had the exact 3 forms in the order of Taurus, Sagittarius and Gemini in the 2nd Stage of Junkyard boss. I am still re-playing and re-playing that game to this day so it's nice to see a kind of throwback.
i'll be getting this game for christmas and i'm in love with it i can't wait. I can just imagine me and my friends trying so hard to get through levels and just binging on it, Bring it on cuphead! I'm waiting ;)
What I'm appreciative of when it comes to the general gaming community (and to an extent the cartoon viewing community) is that we as consumers have become not only accepting of (now expected) game delays, but also appreciative of it. In the case of Cuphead, by waiting to perfect the animation, they've made the game beautiful and fun. I do hope they come out with a second Cuphead, which features even weirder/absurd bosses and fighting challenges, however if I hear they become sponsored by a Triple A production company, I'll cry in the second game's inevitable failure due to strict time schedules and intrusion (unless that company openly states "Dude we're staying out of this, and take as long as you need.").
2:19 Cuphead doesn't actually use "cel animation" since they didn't color the drawings on sheets of celluloid, they colored them digitally on a computer. So "cel animation" isn't the right term here.
Just got this a couple of days ago. Shaking off my 80's platformer rust. It's not really that hard. Everybody is claiming it's frustratingly hard or "rage quit" inducing, it really isn't. It's just challenging. You catch on to the patterns, it becomes easier. That's how games used to be.
God I'm crying. This game is so beautiful and it's giving me some nice memories when I was a kid. I want more developers to make video game based on old cartoons.. I really would like to play a popeye game made by these guys.
YES FINALLY A GAME THAT WAS MADE IN CANADA YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAA I live in Saskatoon so it is very nice to hear that this game was originally made in Saskatchewan
I hope it will release for the switch. It looks awsome and i think playing it as a portable title would make it even better. Plus there arent very many good platformers out for the switch. Shocking because its nintendo. But this looks so good. Hope i get to play it.
Fun fact:I’m a cuphead helper and I will tell you a fact about Cala Maria it is that Cala Maria got her name from fried calamari 😀 PS cool vid bro thx for playing well showing and maybe playing our game
Well I'm just curious on how many bosses there gonna be in total in the game as they did say that they want to beat the record for the most bosses in a run-n-gun game. But I'm also curious on how they came up with multiple phases where 2 frogs become a slot machine, a zepplin lady becoming a crescent moon, a giant slime dying and then it's tombstone coming after you, a dragon getting 3 heads out of nowhere, and etc.
before you play Cuphead, make sure you can hook up a controller to your computer. if you have the whole Xbox (has to be Xbox 1) then just buy it there. Cuphead is harder to play on a keyboard but its a bit easier on a controller. this is just from experience so choose wisely because i don't know how well you play with keyboards. but, this is just a little advice.
if only more triple A devs put as much love and care into the games they are as Cuphead's developer we wouldn't need to worry about buggy launches and game breaking bugs
I'm more than happy to buy this game at the first day it was release. 4 hours of excruciatingly in pain gameplay recorded, and i'm willingly to do it over and over again. I love this game. it only lacks coop matchmaking online, which is at some point is needed.
It's amazing that it was "hand drawn", even I, someone who has respect for all animation styles when effort is put in to it (despite what people say, there is effort in CGI and flash, and it shows when little effort has been done in those styles too) would never have the patience to do that. I do think we need to come up with a better term than "hand drawn" though, as what we always mean by this is "drawn on paper" not "drawn with hands" - flash animation is also hand drawn (or at least some of it is) as I have seen it being drawn, and they draw it on a kind of pad and use a pen like device (I don't know what their called) and they draw it with their hands, so it is "hand drawn". It is misleading to say they are not hand drawn, so something else needs to be said, or we need to be more clear what we mean.
Kazuhira Miller you poor soul you could have bought a good pc then the people who only care about money won't get it but you got a linear device that only plays games and only games not anything thing except for a thing or two and the thing can't even be upgraded (I think you can only change the hardrive) and as the time goes on you will be left with a machine that cost decays and the power that will only get worse and worse as they make more and more of the Xboxs that cost more to upgrade to a new one that to upgrade a pc
just because things are old doesn't mean there not good. hand drawn animation is old and considered out dated and yet they made this great game that is done so well that you realize that just because hand drawn animation is old doesn't mean that its out dated. it was used to make this incredible game. this game shows that things that are old haven't given us everything they can they still have more to give us, more potential than we think so may this game last a long time. :)
Cuphead is a passion project in every sense of the word. The root word of, "Passion," is Latin for, "Suffering," and just tell me MDHR didn't suffer, hand-drawing a freaking game.
Personally I prefer the local co-op cuz everything relies on online nowadays Xbox servers go down or switch servers eventually go down the games that require online are completely useless cuz there's no local co-op.
JESUS! No wonder this game has taken so long to release, so much love and care has gone into it, credit where credit is DEFINITLY due :D
please do not over expose this game
it took long to go bqck to the good ol' days
+*Sea_Dog* You know what's up.
I never heard this game until last week and I think I want to get it now, the design looks very good ;)
JPonyLoco well they hand drew everything
This game is my jam. The animation is fantastic. But that soundtrack just makes it for me
I see you in almost every video that has to do with Cuphead
Committed fan I see
Everything on this is amazing. I got the soundtrack on 12" records.

TonioDoesGames you can get it on pc too, but you wont have local co-op because pc games dont usually have local multiplayer like Forza, Gears and Halo
Just get it on your computer.
that's not true. Some games don't have local co op and some do on PC. This game specifcially does have local co op.

The creators are from Canada, so uhh... Yeah it is.
Jeff Kaplan its a game made by canadians with a 1930's animation style
This the best year in gaming ever. Period.
Toy Gains why?
Fun fact:I’m a cuphead helper and I will tell you a fact about Cala Maria it is that Cala Maria got her name from fried calamari 😀 PS cool vid bro thx for playing well showing and maybe playing our game
so glad i paid foe the game, this guys need recognition, fantastic work!
Bought Cuphead. Loving every second of it.
I love the beginning!
Also I love cuphead!
HAND DRAWING ALL THE ANIMATION FRAMES!!! GOODNESS THIS GAME NEEDS TO BE "GAME OF THE YEAR" FOR EFFORT!!
This is literally the only game I wish I had on my PS4
Him : Hey! I’m Brendon!
Me: YOU AREN’T BRENDON URIE!!
Best year of indie games ... BAH!! BEST YEAR OF EVERY TYPE OF GAME
Games can CERTAINLY be art!
I love the sunflower boss music
1: oh cool the creators are from Saskatchewan
2: oh wow the pronunciation of "Regina, Saskatchewan" was so bad I started laughing
I just pre-purchased it right now! I can't wait to play it!!!
I had no idea it was in development for this long, wow
this game is so special! glad something l ike this came out
before you play Cuphead, make sure you can hook up a controller to your computer. if you have the whole Xbox (has to be Xbox 1) then just buy it there. Cuphead is harder to play on a keyboard but its a bit easier on a controller. this is just from experience so choose wisely because i don't know how well you play with keyboards. but, this is just a little advice.
I'm happy to know people miss pronounce Regina. I loved that part of the video lol xD 10/10
the Cuphead footage in the video is giving me Journalist flashbacks.
I wanna see a sonic game with rubber hose animation.
I didnt even know what cuphead was untill it showed up in my discovery que the day it came out, and I found out how much of an amazing game it is.
OH MY GOD. SUPER MEAT BOY HAHAHAHAHA forgot about that one lol continue
if only more triple A devs put as much love and care into the games they are as Cuphead's developer we wouldn't need to worry about buggy launches and game breaking bugs
I'm more than happy to buy this game at the first day it was release. 4 hours of excruciatingly in pain gameplay recorded, and i'm willingly to do it over and over again. I love this game. it only lacks coop matchmaking online, which is at some point is needed.
1:46 DAAANNNNGGGGGGGG first game creator/designer I've seen that is THAT FIIIIIINNNEE XP
Now this is a game worth buying.
I bought an xbox one s for this game I can't wait to play it I love old school cartoons and this looks like a love note to them
Chris Griffin ehhhh it's a good system rare replay is awesome.
You have also Forza.
Tha Pume ehhh racing games don't interest me
Kazuhira Miller you poor soul you could have bought a good pc then the people who only care about money won't get it but you got a linear device that only plays games and only games not anything thing except for a thing or two and the thing can't even be upgraded (I think you can only change the hardrive) and as the time goes on you will be left with a machine that cost decays and the power that will only get worse and worse as they make more and more of the Xboxs that cost more to upgrade to a new one that to upgrade a pc
LifelessHawk hahahaha good joke.... i got bored and half read it. Thanks for the comment all the same. Let me guess #pcmasterrace. Have a great day.
This is the best-looking game I've ever seen.
They did them all animation with CELL?
I give them immense credit.
Considering how much effort went into this game I have no problem spending money on it
just because things are old doesn't mean there not good. hand drawn animation is old and considered out dated and yet they made this great game that is done so well that you realize that just because hand drawn animation is old doesn't mean that its out dated. it was used to make this incredible game. this game shows that things that are old haven't given us everything they can they still have more to give us, more potential than we think so may this game last a long time. :)
Cuphead and the cartoon graphics are so cute 😘🥰
Ok now we need an actual cartoon series of that
Cuphead is a passion project in every sense of the word. The root word of, "Passion," is Latin for, "Suffering," and just tell me MDHR didn't suffer, hand-drawing a freaking game.
Preordered on Steam weeks ago! Cant wait
Cuphead: Another reason why Regina rhymes with fun. It's as crazy as Wade W. Wilson himself.
I simply want to buy this game because of how much the devs have put time into it, it's so awesome.
Very cool to learn the creators are from Canada! Just FYI - Regina is pronounced RE-JUH-EYE-NA and not Regeeena - great video all the while!
That game looks awesome. I wish they have cuphead on PlayStation 3 and 4.
Personally I prefer the local co-op cuz everything relies on online nowadays Xbox servers go down or switch servers eventually go down the games that require online are completely useless cuz there's no local co-op.
There's no reason why you can't have both.
I’m excited because I complete the game a week after it came out!
Finally, some Sask. love in the gaming community!
