So excited for this appointment, genuinely think we should have pushed way harder to get him in the summer, but we got him now and all I can be is hopeful
I genuinely hope he’ll be a success at West Ham, I’m a United supporter but the way people have been slandering Potter’s name is crazy. He did struggle at Chelsea but he’s a quality coach and I think West Ham will be a much better fit.
Soucek negotiated with Potter`s Brighton days before joining WHU that January 2020 so we can be sure Potter knows where Soucek should play. Besides BHA and WHU there were Atalanta and Inter interested. Soucek chose WHU because of EPL and London...
GK - Areola LCB - Kilman CCB - Todibo RCB - Mavarpanos LM - Emerson CM - Paqueta CDM - Soucek CM - Guido RM - AWB CF - Bowen CF - Kudus lots of depth and rotation on the bench for tactical changes, think summerville fulkrug soler will all come on in when needed, Alvarez as well i could see playing in a back three, mavrapanos is ideal RB/CB, Emerson and Soucek seem like potter players if ever i’ve seen em, they’ll be west ham’s Solly march and Gros, defo think he should go back to the back 5, keeper needs cover and they need security now this season over anything, maybe make some tweaks after the summer
When Bowen comes back I’d love to see kudus play that “10” role or you said shadow striker. Did it at Ajax. Us as west ham fans have crying out for him to play central. Like what David Moyes use to do drift more centrally because he was good on both feet
Completely agree with what you are saying about Aaron Wan-Bissaka, i think he has continued to shown a lot of potential and just needs a good system to work well in!
He went unbeaten in the Champions League proving himself against the best (players wanted to perform in the champions league). He was dominant in the Prem with plenty of chances created. He was sacked by the fans, is what it is. That's Football. Time was the perfect healer, everyone's realised he should of been given the time. Aging squad at West Ham hopefully he gets time to rebuild, they paid 27 mil for a 34 year old lolll
As a United fan I was always intrigued to see him play in a back 3 with his limitations going forward but then became aware of how poor he can be positionally, regularly performing last ditch challenges (successfully) but how many times can it happen before they concede. Tracking the back post could also be an issue. But still very interested to see how he would fare
Wan Bissaka as CB? Summerville as LWB? that team would loose every game with a score of 4-5. what i would do is 442/433, the only change in the XI is Emerson over Summerville, the biggest difference is to defend in 442, with soler in that wing position that he used to play in Valencia, and with the ball the team would attack in 433 with Soler adding himself to the middle and Bowen starting as RW (Bowen in defensive actions would be that attacking player that has a bit more of freedom on who to press and how far he could go)
I’m a huge fan of Potter & what he did at Brighton, so Im very excited to see what he can do with this West Ham side. The Chelsea appointment that he gets so much flack from was a shit show from the beginning. People dont seem to consider that they ruined the relationship with Tuchel of all people. That caliber of manager saw what was happening & he said he wouldn’t do it, what makes you think someone like Potter would be able to handle a 40+ player dressing room lol anyway, the one thing I would disagree with here is Summerville at LWB, maybe against the smaller opposition but I think Emerson gets that position with how he can offer on both ends of the game.
I truly hope it works. I thought we made some very good signings in the summer and were adding to some talented players in the squad, Lopetegui was not getting the best out of any of our players and we truly suffered defensively from his tactics. A lot will be made of Potter’s tactics in possession but even if he just fixed our Out of possession tactics we’d improve a lot
But because the team will be higher up and trying to dominate possession, I'd rather him risk a mistake further up the pitch in order for him to create a world-class chance being the world-class player that he can be and has been in the two seasons except this one... He'll have the space and the right system to pump more of them through balls and break the lines imo.
Anything with Rodriguez in the team is a mistake. Having watched every game all season, he’s an absolute liability both in possession and transition. Replace him with Alvarez 100%.
please not Rodriguez. been awful so far. he doesn't want to be at the club and Alvarez is much better. Paqueta also has been awful. Soler could be the key in this midfield - has shown real quality at points
how come we are still talking abt potters tenure at brighton as reference as if football tactics havent evolved since the arrival of de zerbi a hundred folds. Potter will suffer if his team is passive and conservative in attack. Thats potters biggest downfall too conservative attacking wise. His teams hardly are xG or shot frequency monsters. imagine he has kudus + Bowen yet his teams will average a few shots per 90.
Potter’s record really isn’t that great. He’ll do okay, but West Ham will be fed up with him in 18months as West Ham will be doing West Ham things bobbling around 10th and 16th.
Im interested to see how this goes, West Ham have some decent level players that are constantly linked with moves up the table even when they were in Europe, but I've personally never really rated Potter even at Brighton. People will say all he needed to do at Brighton was stay up but we've seen recently they obviously wanted more than that, so to see him spend 3.5 years there with Premier league money and status to invest in the squad but basically just sit on 9 wins, around 40 points each season, when you had Championship clubs like Sheffield United and Leeds come up and outperform him in single seasons (although they both went back down) just makes me curious to see what he can do with a club thats seen as more his level but has potential to push up too.
except when he got brighton from relegation candidates to competing for Europe and generating hundreds of millions of pounds in players sales while keeping an incredible youth system by bringing young players in for cheap and selling them for big big money because potter knows his players and knows how to fix it all together. also. cmon mate. hes obviously better than sloppytegui
@@brunoz6728 I never said he was bad or he'll be better/worse than lopetegui, he's generally a good manager and a West Ham in 14th or Crystal Palace in 15th currently is where I'd put him to see how he goes and where his true level is...However as I put, he had 3.5 years of stable prem football and prem prize money to build a squad with, let alone the constant high sales funds to reinvest, and other than 8 games he was "competing for Europe" (very disingenuous claim to make) he finished every season there with 9 wins and around 40 points. Yet you had clubs like Leeds, Sheffield United come up with Championship squads, Championship money, Championship appeal...and finish higher than him, which would suggest levels of concern as to how good he really is when people we're touting him as the next big thing for just keeping Brighton in the league but generally going nowhere mostly until he left. As I said im interested to see where this goes when I don't rate him as highly as everyone else and he's got a squad that could go into that competing for Europe spots in the future.

That flav at fleet services line was delivered to perfection ! Elite !

really? didn´t know that.. Thought only west ham had the interest
Thanks for this one Jim, appreciate you covering this
GK - Areola
LCB - Kilman
CCB - Todibo
RCB - Mavarpanos
LM - Emerson
CM - Paqueta
CDM - Soucek
CM - Guido

CF - Bowen
CF - Kudus

Hes 31
No they didn't
As a slug, the "give it a chance" at the end of the pod plug made me crease 😂
Think we could see emerson playing that full back in the back 3 role as well offers more on the ball then AWB
Been waiting for this video as a West Ham fan I am buzzing with this appointment 😆
Same
Don't know if Potter has ever used 12 players at the same time though.😂

I would switch todibo and kilman, as todibo can cover for the other two with his pace
Also possibly Edson in the dm role
9 minutes for glorious Potter-ball to take effect

Paqueta makes to many mistakes to have him play without a double pivot to shield the defence

3:50😂😂
Summerville at LWB, what have you been smoking?
A pod joke in a normal video 👀😂 love it
I think Todibo plays better in the centre with a back three.
Wait so you expect him to introduce a striker partnership that you wouldn’t expect? I like it.
Potter build something big in Brighton, the so-called »de-ZerBall» was implemented by him...
Guido absolutely should not be playing, dude is an abysmal player.
No he isn’t
@@maxbullman5925 he is awful
@@maxbullman5925 He can't run,has no pace..torn to shreds from turnovers.
I think Edson Alvarez will benefit massively from potters arrival
You absolutely overlooked what the defensive shape would have to be. The setup you proposed makes no sense in this regard.
People talk about Potter the way they should be talking about Southgate
Anything with Rodriguez in the team is a mistake. Having watched every game all season, he’s an absolute liability both in possession and transition. Replace him with Alvarez 100%.
you got it right mate
Think this is very optimistic and overlooks how horrific our defending has been. 2 CBs and AWB out of position with 6 attackers is quite insane.
Why do u hate Edson lol he’s better then rodriguez Ik potter will play Alvarez so he can be as good as he was when he first came
With great difficulty…..
please not Rodriguez. been awful so far. he doesn't want to be at the club and Alvarez is much better. Paqueta also has been awful. Soler could be the key in this midfield - has shown real quality at points
Rodriguez playing? Yh you know nothing. Left the video.

ANDY IRVING OVER GUIDO TRUST ME
Potter likes a double pivot, so can see both Rodriguez and Soler playing there
Potter’s record really isn’t that great.

James ur talking a lot of sense. My one issue is we're shit and most of the things ur saying goes against what all West Ham have said all season

Guido cannot play. He’s shyte
Potter has not shown enough to guarantee success for West Ham , it is a gamble unless he can motivate his strikers !
never any guarantees of anything.
West Ham get battered everywhere they go!
Keep us up next season jose to win
