The record holder is the 275 Trophy-R, not a "regular" Trophy like this one ofc. Btw, it's pretty obvious that Renault Sport was already developing the 275s way before the 280 Cupra lapped the Ring.
Thank you, at least there is someone that understand that the Trophy R was in conception way before the Cupra record..
But, as you said, the R is not a regular car.
I can forget the fact that it came out in 2008 because it looks fucking awesome, but the Leon just seems more practical and in the sweet spot of fun-mature to me.

I still wish we could get these in the USA... The Renault-Nissan partnership could be used to facilitate this, though sadly I suspect it will not happen in the near future, if ever.

Buy one in Mexico, bring it to the US (do not iimport it, just cross it over)
+ZhbvenkhoReload, I have heard of people doing this with Canadian cars. Most of the Mexican cars I saw around AZ still had Mexican plates, usually Chihuahua. Not sure how that would work when you went to register the car with US plates...

They just don't do it. Most of the time US police don't check on the cars.
Renaults are bad quality cars. French cars in general are horrible. They had to exit the US market and never have been able to come back.

@@Carfection absolutely brilliant. Does everything I want. take it easy its a great car to drive then absolutely brill when you want to go on the b roads or a fun drive. Not had it on track yet. I purchased a set of ohlins for it in November so going to put them on next month to see the difference.
Brought my 265 cup last weekend, the car itself is very capable definitely need to get it on a track this year

We don't know what time did Megane RS 275 Trophy on the Ring. I think it could have beatten Seat but the difference was to small so they needed something extra like R version to set a bigger gap in between.
Only wish Renault was sold in the US.
Please add more inserts like off the screen saying Race Mode and for the Race button for that matter.

Renault was already testing the Trophy R even before the SEAT broke the record.

So many words about the exhaust and sound yet not a single decent record of it. Typical XCAR...
Seems to me Renault are just fettling with what was already a great car. I think overall your really better off buying the older Megane RS250 and sticking a remap on it which will take power to around 295... Saves you a massive wedge of money and will beat the 275 trophy anyway.

an advice...those RS button you have to press it and hold it for about 2-3 sec...then you will enjoy..(race mode)...
I'm looking at buying one but what should i look out for in these RS 250 and 265 and 275's? the ripped bucket seats? if its been tracked? serviced on time etc? and is the 275 much better than the other 250's and 265's much better aside from a bit more power?

derbigpr500 You know what, you're right. I was just pointing out that the description in this video made the feature sound utterly mundane while holding it as some sort of awesome feature. Made it feel like advertorial.

The basic principle of ESP is braking wheels (+reducing overall motor power), so the way it was written/said - without any further explanation - just sounds odd. If it's such a great and interesting feature, then it should be presented appropriately!
This is no doubt a great car. But... it needs a replacement. It's just too old right now. I think that's the only downside.

Anyone gone from a Fiesta ST to this as an upgrade?
Not referring to power specifically, but driver feel, handling and how engaging of a drive it is.
I haven't driven a car that's as precise and on point as the ST, but I think the Megane might just be if not just as good, a lot better..
I have.
Megane is a more capable car but at lower speeds in the street, Fiesta is better and more willing to wag it's tail.
Megane has much higher limits and the diff is magic.

Has anyone had experience driving a sunroof equipped RS Megane? Is there any perceptible difference in the way it drives with a sunroof?
A journalist might bang on about it putting more weight in the roof where you don’t want it - but in the real world you won’t notice. They’re beyond brilliant to drive - one of the great hot hatches…..

I love the RS500 but it is nowhere near as lithe around track as any elite Megane.
Old Megane was 20 seconds per lap faster than RS500 at Nurb.

I sold my mint 06 rev up 350z last year and just put down a deposit for a 2013 megane rs 265 cup... believe it or not the megane is slightly quicker than the 350z and more comfy. It revs way faster than the 350z and throttle is more sensitive in sport mode. I cant wait to get my car next week!!

Presumably the next-gen Renaultsport Megane will have flappy paddles?
Otherwise it doesn't make sense to me why the Clio has them and the Megane does not.

Steven Brooks If you watched the video completely and if you read the title properly, then you'd know that this isn't the Trophy-R, this is the normal Trophy.
It's not 5.8. The trophy r a faster car could only go 6.5 on average by f1 drivers

I wasn't aware a brand as lame as Seat has so many fanboys to make fun of Megane after it "lost" the record. Who cares. It's still a better drivers car in every way. Lap time is not everything, even though Leon cheated as well, you can't actually buy the car in the spec that it was used in...while...you CAN buy the Megane 275 R version. Everything that made the Seat fast was made by VW anyway, Seat get's little credit for it. Megane is also an old car...it's 7-8 years old pretty much with some tweaks. Seat is brand new in every way.
Don't worry....next Megane will be a hybrid, it will have a petrol + electric engine, and it will probably have 4 wheel steering like the Laguna GT has...then it will take another 6-7 years for others to catch up. That's just a fact.
derbigpr500 I completely agree with you, mister. Renault truly invest in inovation, thats why their creations sometimes look old - because they was almost all the time the firsts when something truly new emerged on the market.
Obviously not the hot hatch king because 1. Seat has the ring record with a production car 2. Renault had to effectively build a race car to beat the Leon 3. Have you seen the price of the Trophy R, stupid and cant see anyone buying it. 4. If SEAT removed back seats, got a custom exhaust, race suspension, roll cage, stripped out sound deadening who knows how much faster it would be.
