The round thing on the fuse box that has to slits needs a flasher relay in it. It has two flasher relays for that car. 1 for your flasher switch and 1 for your blinkers.
dont know if you ever got it fixed but, mine was doing the same thing. i got the flasher relay cuz it didnt look like mine was there. well come to find out there is no wires going to the fuse box where the relay LOOKS like it goes. so what i did was turned on the hazards and fallowed the blinking noise. above the brake release there is 2 relays the top one is for the blinkers the bottom is the hazards replace the top one and they should work. i just did mine.
Thanks for leaving this comment! Had the same issue. My dad's been a mechanic since the 80s and even he didn't know about these relays so we both learned something. Fixed my problem!❤
That year MC doesn't have the relay flasher in space #19. It's a bad bulb... Like the guy said, has to be a two way bulb... 2057, NOT a LED. The LED Will cause the same problem. Easy fix!
Say, does anyone know why my brake lights on my 79 MC aren’t working? I’m literally changing out my turning signal switch right now and I kind of want to knock that brake light issue out asap.
im having problen where the turn signal will do the blinker indicating right turn, though it wont stay on the running light. i switch the pigtail to and it started acting up on my driver side but my passanger side markers works
Even though you didn't get your problem fixed I'm pretty sure this video will help me my switch is broke & needs replaced.
You’re missing the flasher relay in the fuse panel
There's a two or three - pronged flasher by the e-brake release handle, if I'm not mistaken. It may be yellow.

I'm sure you figured it out by now that your flasher is missing out of the fuse Box.
I’m sure you fix it by now, but I would of start by checking the blinker relay. The mc ss carry 2.. 1 for the hazard lights the other for the blinkers
You are totally missing it it goes in the round part on the fuse box it is a flasher relay
It was the bulbs on my 86 Buick Regal limited
Flasher is bad. It's close to the brake release handle.
Looks like 2 bulbs out in the back, and they might be the wrong ones in there on driver side
Looks like you are missing your flasher that plugs in your fuse box in the space where the circle is

One of the bulbs may be bad, two ways bulbs.
Exactly! They may have had a LED bulb in one, instead of the 2057 regular bulb!
If it's not that 2 pin relay that your missing check those 5 wires that run down the driver side door
Missing the flasher relay or bad bulbs
