    Looks fantastic! You may have convinced me to give this a shot on my Tundra. Ive never wrapped anything before but it looks like slow, steady, pertinence are key. Thanks for sharing!

      Sounds like a plan! Everything needs to me clean and dust free and always give yourself enough material to grab onto. This way the oils from you fingers don’t need to touch to adhesive where it makes contact with the taillights.

    These look really good, from my experience I would have started laying in the film from the front of the tail light first rather from the side so it’s easier to stretch across the light. Great work though!!!

    Thanks for the how to vid. This looks great on your truck. Looking back on this do you think it would have been easier to remove the tail light and then wrap it? Or do you need it anchored down to stretch the wrap?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  3 года назад +3

      Thanks for watching, both ways have their benefits. When working solo, anchored is nice, but if you have help, and people to hold the vinyl like help run a heat gun, you can make it work really well removed. I removed my BMW M4 to do do them in an older video and it turned out just as good, but took longer.

    Any tips on how to wrap a large, smooth, round corner light? Specifically, the outer part of the rear lights on a 2012 Genesis Sedan. I seem to end up with folds at some point, not sure if I should be starting at a the top or back then heat + stretch in 3 directions to avoid that...

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  3 года назад +1

      Looking at them I would heat and stretch from the center outwards and pull in a triangle shape. The triangle stretch technique is used quite often. It might even be better to start at a narrow end and stretch across the middle and then heat the film so it shrinks back to normal size and pull it over the last end.

    Luks great and a fine job of the fit. . just one ?, why not just take the light fixture out a cover it for a form fit without out the additional taping?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 года назад

      Both can work, I was showing one way. My BMW I took them out and wrapped. When you are alone doing installs like this, sometimes leaving then connected to the body is way easier.

    Great video man! Love your channel. How does it affect the reverse lights? I recently put in some lasfits on my trail boss and man did that make a huge difference lighting up when in reverse. I don’t want to affect the brightness, was thinking of cutting out the small square spot for the reverse light. Not sure how it will look. Similar to your third brake light video.

    Remember how the rear tail lights looked like diamonds when the lights were on from the 1986 Pontiac trans am?
    Is there a film that can duplicate that style for the GMC?

    Man I tried this tonight, you make it look a LOT easier than it is, mine turned out like shit…it is like 30 degrees Fahrenheit out though and mine is too tall to fit in my garage, I’m wondering if that cold temp makes the vinyl a lot harder to work with?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 года назад +1

      You’ll want it to be over 70 degrees for sure. If you have someone to hold a heat gun when you need to do some stretching is very helpful too. I have been wrapping for years too. My first bumper wrap was awful

    Did you use 80% on the taillights? What percentage did you use for the headlight’s as well?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 года назад +1

      I used ‘light smoke’ by VVIVID. My guess would be about 35%. Just a guess. I used the same on the headlight reflectors and chrome but changed it to Dark smoke after a couple months. Guess maybe 15%
