Man it is FREEZING here in Obscurity, USA but this video is heartwarming and the Model:Samples is HOT! Really great to hear all the functionality straight from the creator and also see the obvious friendship between you. I know I'm kinda late to the Elektron party but I am joining it when I order this on Thursday. Can't wait. So psyched to pair this with my outboard rhythm/drum/groove/sampling section outside my modular. This will be my new centerpiece to go with my Volca Sample, Volca Drum, Microgranny, Kastle, Kastle Drum etc. I've always been warned away from Elektron gear because of the complexity, menu diving and steep learning curve but, after researching this and wanting it from afar for 2 years, that is not going to stop me any longer. This machine is a revelation as far as it's adaptability to whatever situation and how conducive it is to quickly create inspiring patterns. And, of course, THE SEQUENCER! Is there another like it out there?! I know I don't have it in my rig til I get this! Thanks to both of you for confirming my decision to order my first Elektron machine!
It does. Hey Jakob or Robert, I’m is torn between model samples and Digitakt. Do either of you know if Digitakt and overbridge work with iOS as easily as Samples does in this video?
Holy crap, riffing Chance against All totally gave it a human feel, just like you said, like the band was winding down a song. Brilliant! I have one of these in the mail. Wonderful review, head and shoulders above most. Keep up the great work guys and thanks!
You guys are having so much fun. Loved watching and learning with a smile on my face. Love my model cycles and I’m gonna ask Santa for a model samples. 🙏🏾❤️
I do own all Elektrons and I was going to pass on the Sample because I thought ,I do not need a Digitakt Light. Damn! That global chance is a good selling point! Of course Cenk makes it magical. SAMPLE LOCKING was MANDATORY! Also I want a sample of Cenk saying: "Mooolti-pass"!
Good video, but it glossed-over the USB functionality *and the manual doesn't really help). BIG QUESTIIN: what can users do with the audio that is sent to the devuce via USB? Can the incoming USB audio be sampled internalky into the Model:Samples? And how many channels of USB audio output arw thete? Just the stereo output or separate audii channels for each track?
The manual doesn't mention these things because they aren't possible with the Samples. Do you expect a manual to mention every function that isn't available in a box? That's going to result in very long manuals. The Samples does not record samples, it plays them back. And it's a stereo out only via USB, no multi track audio. For these functions there is the Digitakt
This MIGHT be exactly the sampler/drum machine I've been looking for. The Digitakt hasn't looked like an option to me with all the extra functionality and therefore higher price point, I just need a machine that plays back drum samples from old drum machines with some limited editing possibilities. This seems much better suited to that.
Jami Salama you can pick these up now for a great price. I think it was a touch expensive at launch but now, especially since it has been updated. represents excellent value for money. The sound quality is excellent!
Would anyone have recommendations for a portable sampler, similar to this, but one that lets you sample quite fast / real time? I can't think of anything outside of the Boss SP404 / 303, or the Kaoss Pad(s)...
I like how everyone on youtube that gets a free model:samples to test seems to be mandated by the deal to "personalize" it with the stickers. They also did it, but only enough to fit the bill.
Moist Peanut its such a different box from the Octatrack and can’t really compete in that sense however the immediacy and hands on nature of the Model:Samples takes it in a different direction that I know Cenk really enjoys. I’m curious to see where this path takes Elektron as I assume there will be more things coming from them like this.
@@GazWilliams I agree completely and its marketed to a very different group than the Octatrack. I just feel that they should have hired someone else to showcase this new line. Cenk is amazing, that is why its hard for me to believe his enthusiasm towards the M:S
Is "One" Gb any good to day of sampling? I get scared when they talk about just one,i want 8Gb or more and the Elektron must be in stero all the way through. And the price is just squeeze the money out of the poor mans hand.It should cost about 400 pounds!Get Real.
K O regarding this type of device, 1gig of memory can go a very long way. It’s best to think of this as a drum machine mostly using samples for hits rather than breaks as there is no time stretch. I’ve seen it around for £270 - £300 now which feels the right price.
Well you can pan the sounds and then automate each sound within a stereo image plus the effects add more stereo dimension too so this unit can sound extremely stereo even if made out of mono samples
Thanks Gaz,and that is just great, but i still thinks it's way too expensive for a 700 pound piece in norway today ,and for that price you can get a good synth and drum machines for that price together.
Truly one of the scariest thumbnails I have ever seen.
Very disturbing
Two guys who make music fun. Great video!
I didn't learn anything I didn't already know but I stuck around because the joy in these two people was infectious

I waited years for it.
I wanted contemporary Yamaha rs7000.
Groovebox with human approach.
Thanks,Elektron.
Thats it.
would you like to buy my rs?
Also sounds like a motorcycle so double yamaha competition 08:45
Learning mine now. Nice unit, and the massive storage for samples makes it a very customizable device.
Great video guys! Loverly seeing this thing hook up to iOS. 👊🏼
Definitely makes a load more sense when used in combination with an iPad.
It does. Hey Jakob or Robert, I’m is torn between model samples and Digitakt. Do either of you know if Digitakt and overbridge work with iOS as easily as Samples does in this video?
Loved the thumbnail. Great presence as well - as usual.
"I really believe there's something happening in our brain when you're actually hearing a sound and some graphics is changing in front of you.
Cenk, give him an Elektron box and magic flows. He has this amazing bond with these machines the way they respond to his touch.
Loved the video (and the thumbnail), Gaz! :-D I need to get one of those

@@GazWilliams great to hear that!
@@GazWilliams Hi! Can you have a separate output for each track via USB? And is it possible to mute/solo individual tracks?
Is there a way to stop the pads triggering sound when you want to just select a sound and tweak a sound for live performance?
Yes
The best pair :)
Great video!!
nice guys!
I've seen Bo in this interior with Elektron Digitakt tutorial for beginners. Am I mistaken?
This was filmed at Thomann HQ in Treppendorff for Synth Reactor that Bo was also at. Many videos were filmed in this room by loads of you tubers

doctorlilt digitakt
A used MPC live or opz
1010 Music Blackbox - More expensive but incredibly versatile
Looks amazing. Would love the iOS audio with digitakt also.
YES! Please put the same iOS support to the digitakt.
WattSekunde is it there yet?

Great review! ! Does anyone know if you can record in a sequence from a daw?
I think Ess said something here about recording two sequences in a DAW to simulate polyphony.

Maybe Thomann should pimp their warehouse with some trees?
16:50ish Cenk drops an Easter egg none of us noticed?
It's nice but for the same price I want a good basic hardware sampler with time stretch etc and a huge memory
like...? (which one)

Still waiting to hear what offers all these functions for the price of a Model Samples
but how do you back up your projects on the model samples?
444 Levels good question! Probably with the C6 utility for patterns and projects I’m assuming? Anyone else know?
So stoned
is going to be midi 2 compatible?
Which benefits would you anticipate with MIDI 2.0 compliance?

thought he said model cycles lol

This super disturbing thumbnail keeps popping up, so figured I'd better bite the bullet and actually watch the video. :)

are you two stoned !
are you sober?
Yes, a natural high, because music is their drug

Make a Octatrack 2. and not an MK3
