I love seeing the way she interacts with the musicians playing with. She has no facade. Complete authenticity. Usually when artists are asked to introduce their band, they'll just list them off by name. I love that she introduces them properly.
I saw her yesterday here on Mexico City, and I have to say she's so genuine, she tried to speak Spanish, she was lovely with the audience, they performed greatly, it was just a great night, she can really generate a warm ambient. She's just amazing (also, she is more pretty on person that I've would Imagine, Sharon is just gorgeous).
I am emotionally wrung out like a towel in every iteration she performs Tarifa like... her songwriting on this particular track is like sublime. The confidence in her ability to imprint something so emotionally strong with its open ended verses is like magic, utterly transfixing me. This entire KEXP performance is so, so GOOD!!!!
THANK YOU KEXP! Sharon Van Etten's new album, Are We There...WOW. Each song is greater than the last, and then the same thing played the other way. Epic greatness.
KEXP this is the 2nd studio performance of #KEXP i heard. The first one was Junip and i must say i was blown away with Karen. keep on bringing such amazing artists to your studios.
What a friggin cool band!! her voice and the way she utters the lyrics (there has to be a technical word for this.. if someone knows that.. please reply).
:-> Don't go there, sister! Musn't compare ourselves to those we admire; we always pale. Give some time for your own gifts to be recognized. Cheers, JH
I feel like Doug on guitar is in love with Van Etton. Look at all the dopey looks on his face, and how he smiles when she smiles at him at 8:22. Maybe they're just really good friends, but every time they play together he looks at her like he's totally moonstruck. I may be totally fucking wrong, but all the looks exchanged between Van Etten and her band members are so meaningful and interesting that I can't help formulating a narrative. I hope I'm right and that they get together and I get to read about it. Also i want to be in a band like this, they all seem super nice and real. van etton is something special.
On her last song she replaces "shit in your bathroom" with "spit in your bathroom". Do american media still have censorship regarding explicit lyrics as they used to have 50 years ago?
I'm 77 years old and just heard this artist. I love music. This young woman is amazing.
Richard, I'd love to hear your fave rate albums
jonnytacoma Richard Osgood ditto
I bet he's really a 12 year old girl. Just because it's the internet.
Look at his liked videos. He definitely is not a 12 year old girl lol.
Has doblado la servilleta?
Sharon and Heather are absolutely extraordinary together. Unbelievable sound!
She's so effortlessly and naturally beautiful. Talent is obviously very attractive as well.
I love seeing the way she interacts with the musicians playing with. She has no facade. Complete authenticity. Usually when artists are asked to introduce their band, they'll just list them off by name. I love that she introduces them properly.
She loves her bandmates

I adore this woman's music. Her voice takes me to a whole different realm. Something quite beautiful. ♡
So true - it's like she is channeling an angel realm....
props to the harmonies on Tarifa, subtle and then LOADS of grit near the end of the tune xxx
I saw SVE at Calvin College in 2011 and I was transported. So amazed how she has evolved yet remained herself. Tough to do I would imagine!
I just discovered her and of course Kexp discovered her 6 years ago. Great musician and great channel.
Those special strums on ETTSCU by the base. Perfection
I didn't know her since I start watching "the maid" tv series on Netflix, really impressed and start searching for her music. Wow!!!

Love Shazza’s New Jersey’s drawl I stumbled along while angels Olsen brought you to me yes you bloody Rock guitar 🎸
Perfect for waking up with a cup of coffee. Good shit, SVE!
several times per day, listening Break Me, loving Heater (at the keyboards) beautiful voice responses

THANK YOU KEXP! Sharon Van Etten's new album, Are We There...WOW. Each song is greater than the last, and then the same thing played the other way. Epic greatness.
Love her voice, so melancholic and sweet.
her voice has character and always full of emotions

Amazing !!!!!!
Great stuff!... Fantastic aural textures and lyrics.
"Tarifa" is such a great song. Also, love that Sharon is high as fuck.
…
i LOVE HER
Amazing.
so much suzuki ! amazing opener
damnnn, this is really good stuff, every Time The Sun Comes Up awesome song,
She is stoned. And i am in love.
How can you tell?
What
When you get high enough its easy to tell who else is stoned. its a subtle thing you get better at picking up on the more you toke.
If she were a kite, she'd be high, a candle, she'd be lit, and since he's SVE she's stoned. it's the way of things
fucking hell so beatiful
Hello, I am 28 and I also love this woman's music.
This is so amazing!
I really wish Heather had been touring with them when I saw SVE in Asheville in 2011. So great.
Wonderful x
just fell in love... nothing more to say...
Awesomeness
me gusta mucho esta artista
are there any plans for atoms for peace to play on kexp? that would be REALLY cool
There are plans for atoms that make up individual musicians to play at KEXP. I suppose this happens all the time. That was easy. Wish Granted!!!
Mulheres perfeitas vc encontra aqui
This reminds me of First Aid Kit or the other way round. Either way, all of them are great artists.
Haven't heard a song I didn't like from her yet!
What a friggin cool band!! her voice and the way she utters the lyrics (there has to be a technical word for this.. if someone knows that.. please reply).
fuck, I am in love with her.
I want a job at KEXP!!!!
que som doce..... massa
oh mah gawd
magikal
Anyone recognize the drummer? Darren Jessee from Ben Folds.
Ugh, Break Me, my god.
Great
Wow.
she's so good at everything it makes me feel like an unaccomplished loser
Same
I just revel in the emotional state her songs produce in me.
Scott Ross that's how she probably ended up performing- being in the music.
:-> Don't go there, sister! Musn't compare ourselves to those we admire; we always pale. Give some time for your own gifts to be recognized. Cheers, JH
@@jhhatcher Thanks for bringing the light!
breaks me,
I miss the drum sound on "Every Time the Sun Comes Up" badly.
I feel like Doug on guitar is in love with Van Etton. Look at all the dopey looks on his face, and how he smiles when she smiles at him at 8:22. +Skye Williams I think he is just enjoying himself...
I get the same vibe! Can you blame him? He's so cute- too bad he ended in the friend zone!
She hypotizes her band to join her
Sharon van Etten being Sharon van Etten
Nice to see someone using an Omnichord,.. Talented group.
+Grey Gardener oh please lol
+Joshua Mills oh please what?
idk im high as fuck
On her last song she replaces "shit in your bathroom" with "spit in your bathroom". Do american media still have censorship regarding explicit lyrics as they used to have 50 years ago?
Pretty much. Welcome to the Land of the Free.
sleslie23 on spotify, all the doors lyrics are censorship, is amazing that we still are in 1967
This is technically a radio station, and you can't swear on the radio.
I figured it was out of politeness towards KEXP, even if they could technically get away with it online.
She's in trouble
Does anyone know what effect Doug Keith uses on his guitar during "Tarifa?" It sounds like Robbie Robertson on "Tears of Rage".
I was looking for "Let Go" :(
Sheeeeeee
Omg
C'est tout doux... Sharon réhabilite le slow.:)
Today Richard should be 84 years young....
20:59 ⚡️
Bass tone ftw.
13 people don't know what good music is
