@@nuclearllama7239 i think D standard still has plenty punch and power, but that's the lowest i'd say you can go and still retain enough attack for it to work proper.
Connor Hill in my opinion using double action pedals or just using two pedals is an easy way out for double kicking. I'm not trying to say that everyone that uses those two alternatives are bad but I use a single peddle and can still double kick at a really solid pace.
Connor Hill I was never saying that rick Allen was bad at all and he is extremely good at drumming for having one arm and you brought him up for no reason but I am saying in my previous comment that it took me a couple of weeks to learn how to double kick on one single peddle and it allows me to do more complicated kick and high hat patterns. I tried the double peddle and all it did was restrict me to using less complicated high hat patterns especially if I wanted to double kick while playing a complicated high hat pattern.

+Creme De La Creme In the far future, we will learn to tune so low that it will be inaudible to the human ear. It will be called "Drop _" since there is no audible pitch.
Just because Djent has simple breakdowns doesn't mean that the guitarist can't play. Djent actually has some great and complicated riffs while Classic Metal bands like Judas priest and other bands have literally the simplest of riffs (Not all Classic bands mind you). The guitarists from Meshuggah are the most skilled when it comes to advanced Polyrythms. Plus a lot of people think that Djent is another sub-genre of Progressive Metal and if you've never heard Animals as leaders, you can't tell them that their bad.
Actually the reverse may be true. Many early video game composers were inspired by modern music of their time! They just were limited by what consoles could do then.
I really prefer what comes before that, actually. The one you pointed out just sounds really slippy and muddy, it all blends together far too much for my tastes.
So basically, classic metal sounds killer because it still has it's rock roots and focuses on on the structure of the song while modern metal just sounds like they disregard their roots in order to sound as "brutal" as possible.
Screaming is a technique that was set in classic metal. All the thrash bands, especially Slayer and bands that were inspired by Slayer so for example Death, which is already death metal. Voivod with Rrröööaaarrr also comes to mind. But I get what you're saying. Nowadays screaming is completely warped and has nothing to do with old school slightly guttural screaming that still had a lot of natural voice involved. Today it's more like failed growl, very unpleasant to listen to.
Remember kids: Old does not mean dead, new does not mean best. No hard feelings, I'm tired about being right about everything I say. If you know you are a fellow gigachad
I find a lot of modern metal mostly just sounds like the same super-low growling muddy guitar with over-drummed backing. Infact, I feel sorry for bass players these days... what purpose do they even serve? Next to none. They're completely lost in a thick, muddy soup of Dropped tuning chug and double kick drums. Yes, dropped tuning sounds aggressive and heavy but you can't hear the individual parts that well... they're all so low pitched that they blend together (and not in a good way).
Honestly, I think the muddiness just kills how heavy a song feels. Stuff like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest still feels a lot heavier than most modern metal for that very reason.
It'll be like Miles Davis's "Bitches Brew" to his classic "Kind of Blue"... and that'll just about kill off the last shred of popular appeal the genre had. After that, it'll be nothing but rehashes of classic Black Sabbath/Iron Maiden/Metallica style stuff for an increasingly aging, shrinking, and out of touch audience...
I grew up on 80s and early 90s glam rock and some grunge. I prefer melodic rock with understandable vocals. I stopped listening to metal in the early 2000s. I can't listen to metal with lots of distortion, hyper drumming, screechy or growly vocals either. My ears just reject it. I guess that means I'm into classic metal?
Your situation is quite similar to me....In fact, I stopped much sooner at early 1990's when I was at college. Love something similar to Iron Maiden's the Trooper. Heck, I even like FireHouse's Overnight Sensation than any modern metal song today.
Try Dissection. Maybe late Death (Sound of Perseverance). If you say you're classical, Running Wild could be worth a listen. Or Motörhead. Or Iron Maiden. Or Saxon. Don't let anyone decide over your music taste just by saying it's an "extreme" genre.

+LordB0ner It's just a matter of time until someone makes drop dead z
+manuel flores So deeply tuned, it rises the dead? :D
I prefer classic metal, I just can't really get into the modern metal.
Same
same
I like both, but you can't simply say Hail to the King is better than Hallowed be Thy Name, or that In Due Time is better than War Pigs.... No way
I can't really get into metalcore aside from a few bands.
+FernTheRUclipsr pro tip: metalcore does not equal all new metal
i love classic metal!UP THE IRONS!

Oldschool Metal for the win.
1:08 was Sick though!
I won't take a side here. I like both. They both sounded better to me than the other about half of the time.
The guy explained why I hate modern metal! :)
Exactly and double-bass drums to go along with it
Just because Djent has simple breakdowns doesn't mean that the guitarist can't play.
Yes, really complicated random shredding loud low pitched cats-being-stretched-screaming guitar solo and double bass-drums repetitive thumping bursts.
Same
Animals as Leaders are fucking killer. I'm not much of a Djent fan, but these guys are fucking good.
I swear to God that first riff sounds like something out of a Mega Man game.
travistotle yeah, a lot of these classic metal riffs did really remind me of metal covers of NES games.
I thought it was straight from a Touhou game for a moment. It's extremely similar to one of the character themes.
Actually the reverse may be true. Many early video game composers were inspired by modern music of their time! They just were limited by what consoles could do then.
travistotle it really made me think of one of the sonic games
1:22 gives me some in flames vibes love it
No matter what side you chose, at least we can all agree that modern Pop music sucks.
True that.
AMEN!
darcys model trains Fuck mainstream pop garbage
darcys model trains yep
Vulfpeck?
1:09 sounds sooo cool xD
No matter what style of metal he's playing, this guy is a fucking madman on the guitar damn
So, when are we seeing Metallica vs Avenged Sevenfold video
Oh wait.....
Wtf Metallica and A7x don't sound like this
not even close
He means metallica and avenged sevenfold pretty much sound the same. Hello, Sad but True and This Means War
@@ahacks7692 lol is look like not the sound, just like Led Zeppelin and gretta van halen the same genre but modern
@@gamertrash14 lol
Nice fingerwork. Your girlfriend is a happy woman.
Hamarbi Ljungskile -spits out drink-
HOT DAMN THAT WAS UNEXPECTED! I'M DYING
I can confirm that's the way that works. Especially since you gotta keep your nails short anyways
Hamarbi Ljungskile HOT FUCKING, I DIDN'T EXPECT TO SEE THIS, I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF AT A SERIOUS MOMENT
ha
that mix at the end sounded amazing!
Classic metal is best!
+MarkHawk All metal is best.
+Sub4NoReason true
+Sub4NoReason seems like you don't understand the idea behind "the best"
Tell me why i don't understant the idea behind ''the best'' since i already gave my opinion about metal all metal that i like is the best.
m guna agrey wit sub cuz al metal is betr den evrtin elz
Damn am I the only one who actually enjoys modern metal? Classic is awesome but the distortion of the guitar riff on modern metal is just heavenly!
I prefer modern.
I like both personally
I love modern metal.
love modern metal - the best
I will agree that the distortion makes most metal sound amazing
Classic.
Modern
CLASSIC !!! Sounds much better, with a more balanced mix, and you can actually hear the guitars!
You dont hear pure distortion in classic you can hear the notes clearly
1:09 THIS IS SO GOOD DAMN THIS NEEDS TO BE A FULL SONG
I really prefer what comes before that, actually. The one you pointed out just sounds really slippy and muddy, it all blends together far too much for my tastes.
3:05 this combination is amazing
those sweeps
There's parts I love about both but some parts of modern metal I can't stand :p
and a penus
+Eva Bekkert Eva you seriously need to get laid.
So basically, classic metal sounds killer because it still has it's rock roots and focuses on on the structure of the song while modern metal just sounds like they disregard their roots in order to sound as "brutal" as possible.
I love modern metal, but I definitely miss the cleaner, high end of the fret and piercing solos that the classic metal was littered with.
The whole video could easly sound like an Avenged Sevenfold song.
Not sure if stab at Sevenfold or a compliment.
Karla Manzano Sounds nothing like them but ok...
Karla Manzano honestly, they do like a combination of both sounds.
Karla Manzano one of them sounds like god damn by a7x
His "classic metal" sound like A7x :D. Synyster learned from many of classic guitarists.
1:09 Holy mother of god, please oh mighty lord Jared, bless us with an entire song.
Scott B. Yeass pleaz!
Please? That shit has so much energy!
Scott B. I too would appreciate this
Not to shitpost, but that's not music. xD

Guitars :
Lead & Solos = Classic
Rythym = Modern
Bass : Modern
Drums : Modern
Vocals : Classic (Since I don't like screaming)
Screaming is a technique that was set in classic metal. All the thrash bands, especially Slayer and bands that were inspired by Slayer so for example Death, which is already death metal. Voivod with Rrröööaaarrr also comes to mind. But I get what you're saying. Nowadays screaming is completely warped and has nothing to do with old school slightly guttural screaming that still had a lot of natural voice involved. Today it's more like failed growl, very unpleasant to listen to.
+Luke Valentino that actually sounds amazing, i would love to hear that
Ohh yeah forgot about slayer
+Creme De La Creme Well, I'm not a big fan, but definitely love Raining Blood
+Luke Valentino so i guess you would love trivium's new album
Remember kids: Old does not mean dead, new does not mean best. No hard feelings, I'm tired about being right about everything I say.
If you know you are a fellow gigachad
Classic Metal forever!!!
People say modern metal is shit.
But I like both....
Most is
same
GREANZA TV จอแก้ว I respect that
Metal is metal brothers!
Regardless of the genre, you're really fuckin' good.
1:09 fell in love with this tune...
1:10 sounds fucking amazing! I wish there was a full song! :)
My sentiments exactly xD
Maybe someone'll tab it eventually ?
Most classic metal just use the same overused pentatonic licks to make a solo and call it a day
but wait, what about future metal?
Isn't here yet
shows how much you know :P
shake it off
It'll be like Miles Davis's "Bitches Brew" to his classic "Kind of Blue"... and that'll just about kill off the last shred of popular appeal the genre had. After that, it'll be nothing but rehashes of classic Black Sabbath/Iron Maiden/Metallica style stuff for an increasingly aging, shrinking, and out of touch audience...
17 strings guitars, called it
2:32 ah yes the heaviest chord of em all.

BLAST BEATS ARE LIFE \m\m\m\\/\\/\/\\mm
+Angus McIntyre uuuuuurrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhOOOOOOOOOORRRRRrrrrreeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Rhonda White I am now triggered
Your situation is quite similar to me....In fact, I stopped much sooner at early 1990's when I was at college. Love something similar to Iron Maiden's the Trooper. Heck, I even like FireHouse's Overnight Sensation than any modern metal song today.
Try Dissection. Maybe late Death (Sound of Perseverance).
If you say you're classical, Running Wild could be worth a listen. Or Motörhead. Or Iron Maiden. Or Saxon.
Don't let anyone decide over your music taste just by saying it's an "extreme" genre.
Lets see who wins here...
ROUND 1: Classic
ROUND 2: Modern Metal
ROUND 3: Classic
ROUND 4: Modern
ROUND 5: Classic
ROUND 6: Classic ( Thats just... No)
ROUND 7: Classic
ROUND 8: Classic
ROUND 9: Classic.. THAT GRIND THOUGH.
TOGETHER: They sound pretty fucking badass. Would listen to for ages: 7/10
+Hegster551 do you know what is the song from round two?
+M. de k. Uh oh, someone's triggered...
I'd give the first round to modern
I'd give second round to Classic
his h BFF Dr of f by of dry
1:09 is actually one of the few times I've thought sweep picking sounded good.
Classic metal all the way. I appreciate modern metal tho.
