    I missed her hey day, but we did talk about her in several of my classes. She is an absolutely amazing woman, and the greatest tennis player ever, male or female. No need to constantly mention her gender, she's the greatest tennis player that has ever played at the professional level. Her titles, her charisma, her intelligence, her strong support of women, everything. She elevated the game in every way.

      Lekkki1, you make a fantastic point!. There's no need at all to mention her gender, she is the greatest tennis player of all time as simple as that lol!. I hope you get the chance to see her on dvd playing Chris Evert, they brought out the best in each other and remain great friends to this day just as it should be. It's quite remarkable for me to think that back in the day they played with WOODEN RACQUETS lol!. With all the technology and power in the women's game today, the more powerful and stronger you are the better, just look at Serena lol!. If Martina was playing today she'd be UNBEATABLE!. I laugh when people say Steffi Graf was the greatest lol!. If you REALLY look at the 7 years she was number 1, she had virtually NO COMPETITION until Monica Seles came along and Monica had her measure and knew how to beat her that's why that crazy Graf fan stabbed Monica as he KNEW Monica was going to take over as the number 1 and replace Graf and STAY THERE!. Martina's achievements will never be equalled never mind broken. A WORLD RECORD 9 singles titles at the greatest and toughest tennis tournament in the world, Wimbledon, over 160 MAJOR singles titles and over 150 MAJOR doubles titles are just a few reasons why Martina is the greatest of all time....WITHOUT QUESTION!!!.

    Apart from being the greatest female player OF ALL TIME, Martina is an inspiration!. To go through everything that she went through and STILL play the kind of tennis she played and for so long makes her a unique and remarkable woman!. Martina and Chris Evert's rivalry took womens tennis to a whole new level and made the whole world sit up and take notice!. Martinas records and achievements will never be equalled never mind broken and for people to say that she isn't the GOAT is quite simply rubbish lol!. What she's done for womes tennis and for Gay Rights has been nothing short of astonishing and she should get a lot more respect than she gets especially from the media. Martina, you are the BEST, you are MAGNIFICENT!.

    Thank you Robert. For me when you take everything into consideration, Martina is without question the greatest female tennis player of all time. She played amazing tennis at the highest level for so long while having the media constantly watching her every move and following her everywhere even going through her rubbish!. She got all this unwanted attention, more than any other player, simply because she was gay yet she refused to let these constant intrusions affect her or her tennis and no other female tennis player could have coped with the constant pressure and win as much as Martina did!. She's a fantastic human being and for me as a gay man, she's been and still is a true, inspirational role model!.

    pani martina navratilova to bardzo delikatna i wrażliwa osoba , spotkanie z taką osobą uniemożliwiają politycy i służby specjalne , wierzę jednak że z pomocą sił kosmicznych nawet zli ludzie mogą zostać powstrzymani a prawda może zawsze zatriumfować nad złem na usługach lucyfera i arymana , dlatego mimo wszystko oddaje wielki hołd tej świętej osobie jaką jest pani martina navratilova

    To see Martina so eloquent and remember her career, truly an inspiration. I disagree that homophobia is the main reason more cheering for your opponents. Your sexuality didn't threaten the fabric of American society as much as your country of origin. We had severe anti-communism in the USA, thawing only with the Revolutions of 1989. Today is March 24, 2018 and Agnieszka Radwańska (Poland, Former World#2) has just defeated Simona Halep (Romania, World#1) at the Miami Open tennis tournament. Before 1989, Americans were a little frightened even to look at people coming from those countries. You were a pioneer, and if you want to see the extent of American uneasiness with things foreign, take a look at the DVD for The Best of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In: the #1 rated show in the USA for two years 1968-69 and 1969-70. I was just born then, but my parents told me people would flock to bars and be glued to their TV sets for this big every Monday night event. The jokes they crack about Germans and Russians: Wow! Germans because Americans were still getting over WWII. My point is that just having white skin alone was not enough to get you accepted into American mainstream culture then. Today there are still ethnicities that cause fear in the American psyche, but not European. I haven't heard a Polish joke since the 1980s--no one would laugh now. The changes are phenomenal in our life spans, and I know Americans will continue to mature and improve. How many Pollocks does it take to screw in a light bulb?

    That interviewer is so detached, like a previous commenter observed, it's creepy.
    Example:
    "It was a very emotional time of my life when I had to undergo the abortion..."
    Interviewer: "Interesting. Is there a lesson in all of that? Can you possibly explain the mechanism of an abortion?"
    I get that it's a business magazine, but do you have to be that dry, detached and unfeeling?

    Looking at her matches and rivalries she was a very sore loser, Evert was gracious, I would put her 2nd behind Graf as GOAT! Evert 3rd.

    • @stevennieves8308
      @stevennieves8308 6 лет назад +3

      candy black I'd say as sore losers go, Steffi Graf is probably the Number 1 sore loser. Martina Navratilova was very emotional when she lost but not a sore loser. Martina would sometimes cry when she lost. She always wanted & hoped the fans & spectators would Love her & accept her but she was definitely not a sore loser.
