This is absolutely the best explanation on the whole entire internet of how to test & repair a bad ceiling fan light & what’s going on with the government mandated wattage limiters (trust me, I’ve been watching videos & reading for hours.)
    Thank you!

Came across this after I troubleshot this exact problem and was looking to buy a new wattage limiter. After reading up a bit about it and the reason for them (EPA regulations), I agree with just removing it and going with LED’s. Thanks for the great explanation, wish I saw this video before troubleshooting.

Very helpful video Dan! My Hunter fan seems to be a strange one, there seems to be no limiter (just the two capacitors for the fan)...worked great for the 2 years we have lived here, and the fan still works, but the lights will only blink on and off continually. Does anyone have any idea what would make the lights do this continual off/on blink if there is no limiter (doesn't matter if LED or incandescent). Is it possible Hunter hid a limiter somewhere that is not accessable? Thank you for any help!

Is a wattage limiter the same thing as a capacitor?

@@derekmatthews3714did you watch the video? Do you have a multimeter or a bulb or pen tester? You'll want to test the blue wire connections.

@@derekmatthews3714 have the same issue. I found that the problem is with the bulb socket. The small part that is to make contact with the bulb lies flat. Has no memory to stay flexed against the bulb. No contact. No light. You can replace the bulb socket.

My wattage limiter appears to be inside of the remote control unit :(
