I'm curious why the limiter is installed, what's its function? Just leaving property management and moving to hvac. It's been a wild nearly 3 years though
@@LexVance thanks for the reply Dave, I am looking to go as lead I feel like I’m ready but I’m not 100% sure on knowing all but I feel like I should be good any advice
I was going to give you "lip" for not leaving the white wire longer and capping it off, but you said you were taping it. if it was to touch the metal at all, it could trip an upstream GFCI/AFCI if it's fed by one. assuming wired correctly/neutral not hot(old homes often have that hackery)
Hey lex I recently got a job as a make ready technician and would like to know the difference between maintenance technician and make ready technician ?
Hi NBG! A maintenance tech makes repairs. Whether it be HVAC, plumbing or electrical. A make ready tech gets vacant apartments ready for a new tenant when the old tenant moves out. Hope this helps. Thank you so much for watching NBG!
We'll skid nasty, I'm no longer at CW. AT another property here in Tallahassee called Appalachee Point. Moved on property less than a week ago a and lovin' it. 5 years ago I was picking up trash and dead animals and pressure washing for $10 an hour now making over 55k a year.
Your videos are awesome! Learning alot I’m also applying for a maintenance technician position. Hoping it goes well because i have an interview in a few days. I have experience in painting, drywall, and some experience in electrical (apprentice 1.5years) How much do you think I would be making with my experience? Idont know if my experience is enough. I have brown green and red wire and two gray wire what do I need to do? You said, blue, and black that's blue, and white.. which is it? Thanks for the tip...❤❤❤❤ I guess that's just got a white piece of paper on it, that is a black wire right.
i put up four ceiling fans all with two switches and one ceiling had a red wire which i connected to the blue wire and the black to black etc. The fan then turned on only from the separate switch not the fan switch like the other three. I athena capped off the red wire and connected blue to the black wires but the same thing happened. Any ideas please 🙏🏽 💡

@@LexVance its actually not for safety its about 'saving energy'. Ive seen some newer fans that dont have them but the have LED E26 bulbs included (i think if you include energy efficient bulbs they arnt required to have one). In the case of E12 bulbs are really dumb because its super hard to find a E12 bulb that is greater than 60watts that isnt a super rare bulb like a halogen bulb that cost $10 per bulb
I have a fan like this in my kitchen and beware, it launched a blade into the cabinets. The metal fatigues where the arm from the fan spreads out to the metal that connects on the blades.
suggestion when talking about the limiter maybe actually let someone get a good look at it. Every time you showed it it was for a split second have no idea what it actually looks like.
Lex have you used the Wago's? Wire connectors! Look em up the 221's just wondering! Better than wire nuts in my opinion. But we all know about opinions! Lol 😂😂
I have a Hunter 53XYZ fan with the candelabra bulbs. I was changing a bulb. The bulb broke in the socket. The next thing I know I hear and arc and a bright flash then nothing. I had the light off, but it was an electric dimmer switch on the wall. I found power at the wall where the fan was connected and determined which lead powered the fan and the light. I pulled the light off the fan and found continuity for the light with a bulb in it while in the on position. I knew the power problem had to be in the fan wiring harness. For the Hunter box they had a part that is removable - no cutting. It has a pink and white wire added before it goes to the light harness. There is a small, beige resistor tied under the fan reverse switch. Cut zip tie to get at the resistor and trace the wires to the connectors. Get two pliers and rip the connections apart taking out the limiter. Then connect the light harness to the fan harness. It only goes in one way and there are only two connections to attach. Thank you so much! I was contemplating having to buy a replacement fan. This did not cost anything. Thank you!!!
I put up a new ceiling fan in my living room, I cut the breakers off to the living room. I cut it back on after it was installed, and now I lost power to the bathroom an half the bedroom. Somebody please help
I just checked all of them. For instance in my bedroom all my plugs work my TV is on my ac is on my lamp is on. The wall switch has no power to it that's the only thing not working in the bedroom. The bathroom is next door to the bedroom, nothing works in there. I looked to make sure the gfi outlet wasn't tripped, and ended up tripping it but now can't get it to reset. But everything else in the house is on and working.
Might there be any possible basic way ( abc's ) to troubleshoot/ fix /determine why my ceiling fan/ light stopped working all together? Every brand. But the wiring colors may be different. That's the issue. I won't know what color wires to do on other brands.
