I've never heard Cliff talk much . This is a great piece.
Cliff hit the nail on the head there, when he said, "This band (Metallica) is curious enough, to twist things around ".
That statement alone reveals Metallica were never going to stay in the Thrash genre forever!
I think if Cliff had been alive, the likes of Load and, to an extent Re - Load would have happened sooner, rather than later.
This is a rare opinion but I agree with that. The other guys mention that Cliff had widest musical perspective out of all including classical, rock, pop and so on. People blame Bob Rock for the Metallica which came after black album but the truth is that most of the songs were recording they hired Bob Rock and he actually made it better with more involvement in production. You can also find interviews where the guys say they wanted simpler, shorter songs and because Cliff's perspective was wider he would have approved and helped them with those albums but still this one of those never-ending what-if discussions.
actually James didnt want load/reload or was not THAT much into it, but kirk and lars wanted this badly so he agreed and also said that in his opinion Cliff would not like that

Probably so - he loved classic rock and Southern rock. And there's more room for the bassist to do his own thing in those genres - in thrash metal the bass follows the guitar riff 90% of the time. In Sabbath, Geezer follows the guitar riffs quite a bit, but he also plays lots of licks in between and around the riffs, and underneath the guitar solos. Cliff to me was the Geezer Butler of thrash metal.

You can tell that in his interview he was very stoned and pretty much any interview he is usually stoned. Which explains his quiet and chilled nature When are usually spoke he was very quiet but when you brought out his Bass and played it HE SPOKE .

I notice some people with the rotosound strings he uses have red silk on both ends while some (including mine) came with only the red silk ends at the top of the strings only and not the bottom portion that go through the bridge. Why is that?
