  • Chameleon Twist is a platformer developed by Japan System Supply and published for the Nintendo 64 in 1997 by Sunsoft. Though disregarded by critics due to its difficult gameplay control and strange life and continue system, Chameleon Twist was heralded for its uniqueness and garnered a cult following, earning it a sequel titled Chameleon Twist 2.

***** I've heard something about that croc game for ps1. Apparently that was supposed to be a yoshi game but nintendo said no to the idea, and then it become croc on playstation. I'm not sure if that's completely true though.
Damn that game does seem like i good fit for a 3d yoshi game, and the game itself is pretty fun, the second being the better.

TheUnBeheadedSlayer The Croc story is true. It was originally pitched to Nintendo as a 3D Yoshi game, before the release of Mario 64. It, of course, was rejected.

I have started to collect 64 games, and after looking up several titles that I couldn't recognize, you have had nearly all of them reviewed on your channel. Subbed, I'm counting on you, Glenn! I do have to mention the one peeve of mine that pervades your videos is you stumble with the script, and you don't bother to reread that section. Besides that, I am happy I found your channel. Cheers to reviewing the entire 64 library!
This was a rental, and was between Goemon and Twist for the weekend, and my brother and I went on a limb with Twist. There was something pretty rewarding about using the correct length to land on platforms with the locked corner camera as a kid, but I wouldn't bother picking it up now. Goemon, however I am still searching for!

I remember reading some scathing reviews for this back in the day, but I always kind of wanted it because the concept sounded really unique and fun. I picked up a used copy for about £5 many years later and I actually really enjoyed it. Probably didn't help its cause that its release was sandwiched between Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, but its nowhere near as bad as some people have made it out to be.
It's a real shame it is so short, because I had a lot of fun with it; I can't really think of another platformer quite like it (other than its sequel) and its a nice change of pace from the Super Mario 64/ Banjo-Kazooie style collectathons that a lot of 3D platformers were during that era.
I think this review sums it up quite nicely, a great rental or cheap purchase but due to its short length I perhaps might feel differently about the game had I dropped fifty odd quid on it back in 1997!

Though I'm kind of surprised you didn't mention how the game was super easy because of the fact that whenever you lose a life or all your lives for that matter, you start at the beginning of the last screen you were at and NOT the beginning of the level. So basically you have an infinite number of tries to complete the game. Other then that, great review GP. ;)

I always kinda wanted to play it again to see if it's still any good or if it was just a childhood game that never was that good. It actually looks pretty fun though, but the reviews for it are mediocre and a lot of people don't care for it as well.
It will be a good comparison since you said your going to review the second. It's annoying how they don't make games like these anymore though, the classic 3d platformers need to return.

TheUnBeheadedSlayer yeah i think now though its hard for developers because fps games are what sells really and games cost so much to make now that risking it on a platformer would be nuts

***** the industry is getting stale with all these stale fps and stuff.......
this year was so bad, nintendo and it's fail wii u were the only thing that pretty much did anything right because everybody else hardly can make a damn game anymore it seems, there was a few but most were overhyped garbage.

It's a fun game for what it is but I agree it's too short and easy. The biggest challenge was fighting the camera. I don't remember if I played the sequel or not. This is pretty much on par with the other decent but not great platformers for the N64 like Glover and Gex.

And here we are for another excellent review.
    About the game. Yeah, it was fun but quickly get bored. The game mechanic was quite unique at the time, but he didn't gave a huge score by many company such as IGN, gametrailer, etc. The story was ore based on (or more precisely a ripoff) of Alice in wonderland due to the white rabbit. I had this game for a short days after i finish it. ^^;

Its not a bad game but it was so ugly, i couldn't stand it... i thought it looked worse than Body Harvest and that says something. Its like every single area in the world is made by a few boxes. The geometry is so basic that i wouldn't be surprised if this was on the Atari Jaguar. And the textures are of the lowest quality among N64 games. Finally, the art direction itself is... not that good either.
I remember renting this game and i really tried to get through but the graphics ruined it for me.

    • @n64glennplant

Imgema you couldn't have played it for that long if you couldn't complete it...it only takes an hour or so :)
