Noah Vanderwood It's live; this ain't his band... On that fretless neck --- your fingertip is the fret and it's micro, multi-mini-micro shit and it's so easy to be a fraction of a fraction of a fraction off... thus, 'out of pitch in a few places...' I'm not trying to make excuses - because he don't need it. I try not to judge at all - until I can look into a mirror and say that I, myself, have reached perfection...
Ron Thal is a true guitarists / guitarists! His educational clinics are very cool too. Him and Paul Gilbert are the best at their clinics and shows because they are truly NICE guys, with no rockstar ego's of any sort. They don't drink or do drugs, and are just awesome true musicians! Also, Ron Thal is a very good singer.
I agree. Ron and paul are great guys. Right before he joined GnR my best friend an I went and picked ron up and took him to see Paul Gilbert with Mike portnoys Beatles tribute show at bbking bar in nyc. I could see how bad ron wanted to be the star on stage. Hes a super funny down to earth true musician.
To think that slash is the most famous yet technically deficient guitarist GnR ever had is a bit mind boggling. Bumblefoot and Buckethead blows him out of the water
Bumblefoot absolutely NAILED that. It was the closest to the original that I have heard up until the end. At that point, having established that he can pull it off note for not, he went on some of his own riffs on the same theme. Masterful.
Yeah, he does that. If you've heard his live cover of Comfortably Numb with Sons Of Apollo from the Plovdiv DVD, he absolutely nails the original and then adds another 2 minutes improv which is jaw-dropping. He is an incredible player and seems like such a cool, unassuming guy with no ego whatsoever.
Wow Ron Thal, I don't think that the great Randy Rhodes could have played it that well in 2014. And it's not only the insane solos, the rhythm work was also superb.
LOL...I have a few guys who'd like to say some things about that. Let me introduce you to Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Buckethead, Tony MacAlpine, Eric Johnson, Ritchie Blackmore, Randy Rhoads.......do I need to continue?
Its amazing how these great guitars players respect randy and the proof is this song, world famous names always play or at least try to play the solos of this masterpiece the closest randy did, man that is way to show some serious respct to one of the greatest, great work by bumblefoot indeed.
Great playing. Nowadays learning Randy's material is a crucial part of learning the classics, like learning Bach or Mozart. It's unfortunate that the camera person didn't show his left hand. So many videos show the damn right hand picking, or in this case, out of focus background. We demand the left hand! Unless it's Jimi of course. Bumblefoot (!) is a wonderful player with a refreshing attitude and all the instincts of a good teacher. Thank you!
ronny is great..he lived down the block from me...when we were kids...hes a couple years younger than me..i was 14 and had trouble figuring out over the mountain solo..i asked ron for some help..we went in his basement..his brother is an awesome drummer..so he has this variable speed turn table puts on the song at a slow speed..figures it out note for note writes it down on sheet music paper..plays it back at normal speed ..all on the first try...i was wtf.....holy shit....he can do it all
Only If Randy knew that how much he inspired many people and his guitar solos are played all over the world everyday fuckin day.... Amazing playing bumblefoot..
The thing is, it's not meant to be an exact replica of Randy Rhodes. If it was bumblefoot would just look like a cover artist, and I know after playing years worth of pretty much cover songs with gnr ( besides a few from Chinese democracy and some older gnr songs he made his own) it feels good to play other bad ass songs with his feels throughout. My honest opinion, there is only one Randy Rhodes but there is also only one Bumblefoot as well. He is an amazing guitar player in a day and age where most people are not. When you sit down and really think of new guitar players from the past 15 years, how many are this good?
How cool is this...I just got +1d' by Mr. "Bumblefoot" himself! I had to check out the video again and it just sent chills down my spine how awesome this song is, especially this version!!
Bumblefoot is so great. He can play the hell out of that double neck. The top neck is stainless steel with no frets, that's how he can make those whammy bar sounds and make it sound like a slide with just his fingers. Amazing!
Yeah the top neck has no frets and is stainless steel. Bumblefoot did a guitar clinic and talks about it. Search Bumblefoot guitar clinic and check it out, it's pretty cool.
Hasta ahora la mejor interpretación de Mr.crowley, Del guitarrista que menos esperaba . Estos temas no son para tocarlos como a uno le parece. Deben ser igual .
Loved everything until the very end. I understand how hard it is to play a fretless guitar as I have studied slide for 20 years now. But it just didn't add anything with that crazy noise solo.
Reading the comments below, I thought this would suck. After watching it, I thought Bumblefoot did a great job. It rocked and was tons better than the Crazy Train version I heard with Tom Morello. \m/ \m/
Bumblefoot is absolutely fantastic! It's amazing, and his mastering of the fretless guitar is insane. I expect nothing but greatness from this guy. That being said I prefer ZAKK ALWAYS for this song.
Thal rules, Rudy, a guy who, covers those songs well too... I like Rudy's covers of the Quiet Riot songs too blahahahahahahaha. Man, If Mr Thal stands beside you f... Love life.. It Ronald ** A way better person other then the guitar stuff. Love Ron Thal, amazing soul hearted...
For some reason Bruce Black isn't accepting replies to his comment, first off this is a tribute to Randy why would he be turning in his grave? "Theres a japanese 8 year old kid on youtube who i think is more precise" That might well be true, but you have no idea if what you see is his first attempt of the day or his hundred and first, Ron has one chance to play this piece and what you see is what he did. I have heard lots of Blizzard of Oz bootlegs were Randy isn't brilliant but that takes nothing away from his brilliant recordings, Take a chill pill sonny and stop trying to be too cool for school
I liked what Bruce said .. But I have to agree 1- or 1000 you just never know.... at the same time that fretless stuff was crap...soon as he got back on the frets it sounded so much better... Just my Opinion.... Peace.
Much more RESPECT..... got the White Marshall Amp.... Never, ever seen Randy play a double neck...... what is that? A PRS? Way after his time..... Randy didn't need a double necked guitar...... just his Jackson RR1 or RRII, or his 73 Gibson. Blasphemy !!!!
That accuracy on the fretless is insane! Bumblefoot is the man
It's not as great to me... He's incredible but out of pitch in a few places.
Still giving him credit for the amazing performance.
Noah Vanderwood It's live; this ain't his band... Noah Vanderwood you're an idiot! nobody has ever heard of you.
RedroomStudios neither of you. the point?
Rofl, and I'm not allowed to have an opinion?
Get over yourself dude.
Playing that solo on the fretless is nothing short of mind blowing.
That solo was almost like the studio version. Bumblefoot respect to you Sir!!!
Ron did justice to Randy's solos here...that's for sure.
Ronthal is one of the best guitarist on earth
You damn right!
He played it so clean, and still with the feeling. God damn Bumblefoot is the man.
Ron Thal is a true guitarists / guitarists! His educational clinics are very cool too. god damn ron thal is such an amazing guitarist. Him, Guthrie, Paul Gilbert, Phil X, and Nick Johnston, some of best guitarists on the planet right now
So cool ! Ron is a master of the fretless guitar fingerboard. What a joy to watch and listen to him play. Rock on Ron!
I love he plays the harmony parts with chords!! Thats a bad man!
To think that slash is the most famous yet technically deficient guitarist GnR ever had is a bit mind boggling. Bumblefoot and Buckethead blows him out of the water
RUDY!!! The man looks the same as when I saw him on the Diary tour in 1982!
Solo on the fretless. Kickass.
Holy shit bumblefoots chops are unmatched

Randy played it differently almost every time he did it live.
Ron nailed the album cover, note for note.
Then he expanded it....master class.
Ron is the man.
Plain and simple!!!
Wow Ron Thal, I don't think that the great Randy Rhodes could have played it that well in 2014. And it's not only the insane solos, the rhythm work was also superb.
That guy really knows his tool...awesome ...bravo!!!!
Love Rudy. He always has a killer tone and great playing.
Man that is so cool to see Rudy jammin on that with Bumble.
Wow. What an amazing version of this song, and it feels so good to see Rudy really feeling it. Good for him!
Ron is the undisputed electric champion of the world.
buckethead.
Chris Lacey Nope. Bumblefoot.
Chris Lacey yea sorry mate, Ron devours ALL
Chris Lacey Agreed!!!!!
Maybe someday I hope to meet Rudy, what a legend !
Its amazing how these great guitars players respect randy and the proof is this song, world famous names always play or at least try to play the solos of this masterpiece the closest randy did, man that is way to show some serious respct to one of the greatest, great work by bumblefoot indeed.
what a treasure Guns n Roses lost

Rudy looking good like always,
Bumblefoot is so great. He can play the hell out of that double neck. The top neck is stainless steel with no frets, that's how he can make those whammy bar sounds and make it sound like a slide with just his fingers. Amazing!

He's loveable
Nice intonation on that fretless thang \m/
Reading the comments below, I thought this would suck. After watching it, I thought Bumblefoot did a great job. It rocked and was tons better than the Crazy Train version I heard with Tom Morello. \m/ \m/
