It was sold to property developer who wants to flatten it and build 70 odd student flats. Locals applied to list the chapel , it was in the process of being listed then a fire mysteriously started in the chapel-go figure! I contacted historic England and because of fire they won’t list it now.
I live in Oklahoma, USA and I know my city government is paying drug addicts a hundred dollars for every dilapidated house they manage to damage enough with fire to be considered a "health and safety" issue and will either get the owner to tear it down or do it themselves and charge the owner outrageous sum! And, the owner has no choice but to pay the cost because, they tack it on your property tax!
That must have been one heck of a fire! It made a right mess! Sad because some of this site looks like it would have been rather nice. Thank you Matt for another unusual and interesting explore!! X💜X
Did you spot the bodybags when you went in on the floor and in the corner, that they used to take bodies from private dwelling's to there, so they must have had a morgue there also.. looks like that basement was the morgue..
Thanks dude! 😅 The fire either started in multiple places or something very flammable was in each room! That was one hot fire! 😮
