The owners might have lived in the mortuary. When I was in college in the later 1970's, I knew a few students who lived in a mortuary apartment and took calls in the evening and overnight. One time, I covered for one of them and I answered the door and a family member brought some clothes for a family member. I saw the member in the prep room. She was around 26 and pregnant. She had died in an accident. So sad.
The large “syringe” with the tubing attached is a trocar and is used to aspirate fluid from the body cavity. The trocar has a 3-sided tip which pierces the body cavity so that fluids in the body can be “sucked out” and drained. It is needed to pierce the heart and drain blood. Since the heart is the pump that pushes blood throughout the body, this organ can contain a great amount of blood that must be drained so that embalming fluid is able to move through the veins and arteries.
You find some pretty interesting locations. I feel like you rush past alot of stuff though. Let the camera rest on a room or object from time to time to allow the audience more time to take it in.
It would be INCREDIBLE for parts too. I have a 1996 Chevrolet Caprice (9C1), a special police model. It has heavy duty suspension components that are exclusive to other 9C1s (most of which have been destroyed by now), limos, and Cadillac hearses. I have lower control arms from a 1994 hearse on it right now
I'm honestly both creeped out and fascinated by what this funeral home looks like. My sister committed suicide back in 2017 despite my efforts to save her, so yeah, it does somewhat bring back memories. I hope that when my time comes, my body would be turned into a tree so future ones wouldn't be so frightened of visiting me. I hate seeing my sister in a jar, even though it was what she "wanted" according to her ex. By the way, I do believe that "piano" at the beginning truly was an organ, but hey, I could be wrong. Otherwise, thanks for showcasing this! Perhaps this video might be a good way of introducing to others what death looks like outside of cemetery life.
The sharp object with a tube coming off of it, is called a trocar. It's for removing the bodily fluids like blood and then adding the embalming fluids. How it's done is to graphic to explain here. Thanks for the cool exploration.
I am a former licenseed funeral director and embalmer. 14:40 The instrument on the embalming table is called a trocar. It's used to extract body fluids from the organs.
How does this happen how is the coroners or county medical examiner not going into these places and ensuring no remains are left behind this happens way too often! Just another sign of a crumbling society!
Creepy place, I could not imagine Living in the home part knowing there are dead bodies downstairs. Interesting vlog, I respect people who work with the dead. Not sure I could do that, too Sad... That Hearse is worth some Bucks. Urbex And Chill, you do a Respectful Job of exploring past places.
I dated a mortician who had a beautiful apartment below the funeral home and it wasn’t uncomfortable at all. I mean it’s dead people waiting for preparation and we’re all going to be there one day. So, no I never gave it another thought.
Okay for those who want to know that is used for the eyelids and mouth some funeral homes use super glue to keep the eye lids closed and the mouth closed. Some do not use super glue it depends on the funeral and funeral home
You've been to funeral homes for the wake/viewing and funerals before right? Other than small children who are too young to understand the concept of death, I thought teens/adults were aware of the presentation of the body, makeup, clothes, etc. The makeup is specific for deceased vs. makeup women wear daily. It is an occupation that actually requires training and education similar to undertakers and others in the funeral business. It takes a special person to be able to do that...I would think since it would kind of creep me out!
Tt is obviously not abandoned if someone is paying the electric bill and legally that makes it😊 trespassing to enter the premise irregardless of what state of disrepair or condition it is in
The super glue was to glue the eye lids shut so your eyes don't open during the viewing process and you lips are glued shut so your mouth won't open during your viewing when my great grandmother passed away she sat up in the coffin during her viewing I guess it was her nerves
Wow. That place is pretty well preserved. The long medal object on the embalming table is called the trocar. It punctures the organs so the fluid can get to the rest of the body
Just fYI but you need to blur out any documents that show any personal information about the people there + whoever was there as a relative and such. Its crazy that the vacuum is just sitting like its still plugged in, and was just left while someone was vacuuming but got interrupted. But apparently never returned to finish 😆😜 so crazy all the stuff left behind
This place is awesome. Btw the super glue is used to glue the eyes and mouth shut so they don't pop open during the services and traumatize the loved ones. Death isn't pretty and it's the mortician job to make the deceased as presentable as possible to not traumatize the loved ones.
Edwards and Son its in the New Jersey area .I’m thinking taxes could possibly be owed or something. I’m really thinking greater New Jersey 🥸. I’m not 100 percent sure this is a combination of different sources from online posts and videos.
What a shame this Funeral home is abandoned. This sucks to see this Funeral home abandoned. Why wouldn't anyone buy this Funeral home? This Funeral home Looks like it could have been ransacked.
We humans waste so much. This furniture and items could have been donated to funeral homes in poorer areas that cannot afford to buy all this things. Some of the items in this funeral home might have been in better shape when it was first abandone. Sale all to pay for the debts. Maybe the property. Banks always let buildings rot instead of selling it to make money and pay the debt.
What month did you do this? Due to people hanging around out front and turning on the vent the neighbor caught wind of all the recent traffic coming here and locked it up. We did this in the beginning of the year before it became the flavor of the month. Great video!

I don’t understand why so much is left behind. The hearses and caskets furniture plus cremated remains. Doesn’t anyone check sell what they can and ensure all the deceased are in their right place.
Also, was the funeral director or owner living in that place? The upstairs is more like a regular home. Im wondering if this place has squatters, as well. The lamp was on, and im not so sure that needle upstairs wasn't from a drug user. It was hard to tell in the video.

When exploring...where gloves. You never know what you are touching, who has been there and what contaminates are in any abandoned placed.
On that note, you'd think turning on that air conditioner unit would blow around microbes and who knows what else, around the room.
