I am a funeral director in the same town and have always dreamed of seeing what’s inside this amazing building. Thanks for taking us along for the ride! The thing you found in the casket is called a casket key, it locks the casket but is simply an Allen wrench they aren’t unique to each casket. One size fits all type of thing. Happy to answer any other questions you may have! There is some amazing stuff in there. They have since condemned this building, sadly. Such a gorgeous building in its day!
My grand parents, parents, aunts& uncles & 2 oldest brothers have all been on that table! Barbra and her dad Vic handled all their funerals and never had a problem! Oh by the way, you didn't dig deep enough, there is a horse drawn funeral coach deep in that basement!
The lady is probably buried underneath all of that clutter somewhere. It does happen to hoarders! Thank You for sharing! My friend grew up living in the top of a funeral home it was like a whole other house. Not creepy at all though.🙂
This was by far on another level. Hoarding Although the funeral home did open in the thirties I did not expect all that stuff the furniture misc all those cars and caskets was unreal. At the beginning of the video, I thought there is way am going to watch the whole hour but I was wrong. I bet nothing in this funeral home was ever thrown out. Thank you for an exceptional tour! There is a lot of wonderful things that have just been left behind to be destroyed by the weather and black mold. That place is huge so much to see
A family in the US bought a funeral home some time back there is a lady ghost but she has been identified plus other spirits but it too had embalming room etc but having all those named caskets and ashes if it were me I'd certainly get in touch with family members to claim their loved ones
I'm probably going to sound weird, loved this video! It was creepy and respectful at the same time. Could you please do some more research? Maybe do a part 2 ? It's creepy and fascinating at the same time!
I could have sworn I saw an Orb floating in the big casket room! There has to be a way to salvage the stuff left behind in these places! Thanks for the video❤
Well back its time people who owned the funeral homes they lived in them. But this one is really large Remember they did have children that lived their also. looks like this was a funeral home with lots of funerals at one time in its yrs.
That's a beautiful place. Someone sure left it in such a horrible mess. It has some really expensive antiques and it did have some really expensive furniture, antique lamps, chandeliers. What a shame it was left in such disarray 😢
Theres a lot of money left behind .....caskets, fancy lamps, hearsts , and Lord knows what all that stuff is valued at. Man. She may not even be alive anymore. This is the most detailed video of an abandoned funeral parlor. Theres an old saying that funerals are the only business people are dieing to get in to. 😮
If someone were to buy this funeral home sight unseen, they’re walking into a gold mine. There’s so much money in materials left behind I buy the place in a heartbeat, make it into my home after I had a blessed first lol
As a 10 yo my grandparents played cards with a married couple who were care takers. I could go about the home to explore with rules. Stay out of the chapels, no climbing in to the caskets in the display room and stay out of the basement! The basement had the embalming room ,makeup etc. but you could look in from the parking lot in to the lab. Saw an autopsy of a 21 yo.
Amazing fine. The place is loaded with antiques. Loads of silver that need polishing and antique lamps and mirrors. The figurines you found are made in Germany and worth thousands. I would think it was a family business dating way back. Her downfall was collecting antiques most likely.
The thing he found in the coffin is a casket key 🔑 It locks the casket so after the lid is closed they lock it.every casket has one and all need a different key(like locks for everything else all are different)
This was one of the best videos I have seen. There is a ton of money in all those caskets before they got ruined. Nobody ever went in and got those in all these years, crazy.
Im love the antique furniture and lamps. Its as if it was added on to for storage of furniture and trash. How the hell did they run a business with all tha crap?
I'm only 15 minutes into this video and it just occurred to me that so many explorers are freaked out by spiders and cobwebs, kinda funny!. But this is looking like a great video.
Also how often they say, 'It's disgusting', as if they're judging the previous occupants housekeeping. I also question the legalities of being in these places to begin with. It always seems like an extreme violation of ethics upon the last owners.
@BonnieHansen-w6l I think it depends on whether it's posted or not. Ethically maybe they shouldn't go in, but all of the explorers I watch are never disrespectful, and dislike the vandals as much as we do. And I find these old places fascinating. More so do I really like the old factories and towns we get to see. Most also try not to judge the homes because there could've been squatters in these places. I wish I could do what they do.
There is so much to say about this video - first of all I would love to bring a sleeping bag, pillow and a bottle for one night, just to prove to myself that I don't believe in ghosts. But the atmosphere in there - wow. There are decades of different styles in so many rooms. Don't you think this would make a great movie set? How about a follow-up? Thank you for taking me somewhere else for awhile...!!👻👻
It looks like the family lived here as well. Business on the ground floor , preparing the body ( the word escapes me) and living quarters on the top floor - nothing like keeping it in the family business, you live and work together; almost sounds creepy.
Did you look at the name on the silverware? Oneida made some pretty nice silver plated table ware - doesn't quite compere with the sterling silver flatware they made in a the old days. I have my grandmothers ss flatware ( It only comes out during the holidays)
I had a friend who lived in an old funeral home. He would always ask me to visit and then try and get me to spend the night there with him. I finally relented and stayed. I asked why are you always asking me to spend the night. He said he was actually terrified to sleep at night by himself as he would hear strange noises and other weird stuff. I thought he was winding me up ... he wasn't! That one and only night I stayed there I heard banging and voices and footsteps that sounded maybe 10 feet away from where we were sitting. Never again, and he moved without notice breaking his lease which made me believe what what happening. Great tour. Still such a creep factor knowing what went on. ✌
A zillion coffins plus a boat load of hurses how much money did they soak these poor people for?! A lot of the caskets you showed were still in their shrink wrap packaging! WOW!
Alot of people put their homes, up as payment for their loved ones funeral, and when they couldn't pay, she took their homes in court, and most all of the homes fell in disrepair, and the county had them boarded up over the years, some have sold, some have been torn down, Barbra owned over 15 homes because of this, and none payment of taxes. That's why shes been in court so much. Shes either deceased now or nursing home.
The crank handle you showed at the end of the video is just that. It's used to crank and clamp down the lid. The two glass horses heads are bookends. That funeral home could have contained asbestos. (Have you ever considered purchasing professional masks ?)..Biohazards could be a problem there as well. It's obvious they didn't take care of their busniess so I'm sure shortcuts were used. Disposal of biohazardous materials is tremendously expensive. All businesses are searching for shortcuts to cut down on costs. With accusations of fraud I'm surprised all those files were left there. If embezzlement was considered that may be a reason why so much was left behind. The courts can issue an order and then nothing but personal items can be removed.. It's so sad all those caskets were left to deteriorate when so many people just can't afford funerals, (as the price list shows) it's the main reason so many people are being cremated now. Really interesting tour. It'd be interesting to know what they decide to do with all of it...🤷🥀
The ashes that you found…did you take them to the police? All those ashes need to be researched and returned to their families. The decor there is unbelievable and absolutely beautiful!
That piece that you found in the casket that looked like a key it is a key it’s a casket key it’s used to raise your loved ones up or down and used to lock the lid
Someone may have said this already but the small urn is so a Family member can take a little of the ashes with them. You have to buy those separately and the majority goes into the big urn for burial. I hope I explained it for you. I suppose you could fit an infant but when we buried our Mom in 2022 we were offered those small urns for 70 or 80$ apiece. Mom wanted to be buried so we turned down the small urns even though us kids lived states apart.
I feel creepy asking this, but did they have a crematorium? You will probably address this later ( haven't watched it yet) the reason I ask is that I had classes in an old funeral home that used to have a crematorium - It was boarded up, but everybody knew it was there.
that crank handle is a casket key, its used to raise and lower the decedent in the casket and after lowering the deceased and closing the casket there is a place on the end of the casket to crank the lid of the casket to lock it.
That is the funeral home in my town I drive by it never knew it all that stuff in it and all the hearses in there and yes its true what the internet said about that lady she left nobody has seen or heard from her again after the illegal things she did
Wow first ojf all ,never seen a funeral home ,so big,i need that lamp shade ,white one kol i have same one its all yellow ,second alot of people on here saying they knew Barbara , wish they would elaborate
Maybe you can look the name up and find an old obituary and finding some family on it and see if they might would like to have those remains that’s sad they could be barred somewhere.
They could have bought used caskets from other places and charged full new price to clients. You said there where some crooked things going on. I cant see why they would have left all the stuff .
The cars aren't all hearses. A hearse looks like a great big station wagon... The other cars were either used as limousines or were the Funeral Director's personal transportation.
Where did all this stuff come from? It was a business ( granted a shady one) but the trash being shown on the video isn't from the business ( maybe some) .
Want to ask, when was this video done? I know when i saw the video, it stated the video was 1 day old, but was it filmed and down loaded the same day. Sometimes people video something and dont actually show the the video 2 or weeks later, so im just curious. Thanks for ur reply in advance.

Oh sweet! This comment will further my grave robbing hustle! I can finally open those pesky caskets and get me gold!
Why was everything left?
Great find! Those glass horses are probably bookends
I would definitely turn this to my personal home! Beautiful! 🙂

I want to see the horse drawn hearse!
@@kristeneichhorn6913Not sure why when they found those awesome cars they only were in there for 5 min out of the 1 hr video.
You happen to know if they bought all of those vehicles brand new? Looks so expensive.

Barbra is in a nursing home here she is in her late 80's early 90's now! She has known me from the day I was born
Dang, that’s an antique gravity embalming apparatus. Y’all found some cool history! ❤️
This has to be my favorite exploration! I just wish they donated or sold all of the stuff that is usable. A lot of good can be done with it all.
They found themselves a jail sentence if caught in there, that place is under a court case now by the state of Missouri and the city of Jefferson!
Hoarders!

What about the crematorium in Georgia? I was so sickend by that! Never seen a video on it, but maybe someday!

I'd All of those cars are in good condition too. If you can clean up the mold, that van has 51,000 miles for an example. 47:50
The hearses and all the items in this place should have been sold off to reimburse those that were conned out of money .

Wo. My heart skipped when he opened that casket!
That is the key to lock the casket that you found in it. I worked and was a stylist for a funeral home.
It's so sad that someone had to trash the place

Those fuses would be for the old fashioned fuse box. They are replacements for burned out fuses.
That piece that you found in the casket that looked like a key it is a key it’s a casket key it’s used to raise your loved ones up or down and used to lock the lid
It’s a casket key, you were right. After the casket is closed for the final time, this is used to lock/seal the casket.
You would think they would all be made out of metal . Felt cheap like plastic.

that crank handle is a casket key, its used to raise and lower the decedent in the casket and after lowering the deceased and closing the casket there is a place on the end of the casket to crank the lid of the casket to lock it.

Your so cool 😎 Ranger Rick!!!

Hello Rick!
Antique no doubt!!!!
Horse head were book ends. Cool place antiques galore. Trash and trash you guys are brave
I love those chandelier
That’s a crank goes in the top of the casket to crank the head up. If the person is landing flat during the service, they crank the head up.
I totally agree Ranger Rick!!!
Key to screw in the coffin, also the coffins are so clean for being so old.

This place is a job for Alex from Curiosity Incorporated from Canada! Man what a series it would make!
Wow
My Grandfather worked at a funeral home in 1914. He was sweeping next to a body when it twitched. He ran through the front door and never returned
Good job in describing your name on the dusty window of a hearse. That’s how I was able to find this video from a different channel.
