Hi everyone! Recently I had the opportunity to try out the Zoom H4n Pro portable audio recorder and I thought I'd record a little test demonstrating its capabilities for recording solo classical guitar. I always liked the idea of a portable recorder, something you can just start up and record your playing with and not having to think about all the technical stuff that comes with recording on the computer. This particular model would be an option to consider for someone who is looking to start recording themselves but is not yet ready to buy an interface and microphones. I hope you'll find this video useful and let me know if you're interested in more gear-related content from me! This makes me feel a bit like a salesperson, lol :D I always avoided doing gear reviews because of that, but when I browse gear test myself I rarely can find those that showcase what I need to hear, so I've decided to do one myself ha.
Cool sound! Did you edit it? Just this 'shhhhhh' like sea sound that bothers a bit .. Please more about gear .. This one, for ex., a Zoom H4n Pro and a smartphone? Or camera? What app for video? Edited sound? Can you edit sound on a smartphone? And, not about recording .. but, on writing your music , what do you use? Sorry for all those questions , hehe Cheers from Brazil Always a beautiful and delicate playing ! :)
Hey, no editing except putting tracks in different order for the video. And mixing as usual. I think this device has some built-in effects, but I prefer to do mixing on computer to have more control. When writing music for guitar I compose on the guitar and then notate it into notation software.
Yes, the noise level on this device is a bit high. I only spent very limited time with so perhaps I could do better with gain staging as well, but to get better signal to noise ratio you'd have to go with more expensive setup, this is one of the trade-offs of a budget gear.
I haven't tried any Tascam devices yet, so I can't comment on it, unfortunately. On paper it does look like a step up, but no way to know without trying.
Hey I have a callous on my thumb that I use to pick with but whenever I play someone else guitar it hurts and the other day it was blistering and I had to cut it off.... Is this normal? There is another callous underneath.

The sound is really convincing enough for me, partly for show casing with classical guitar music. No harm trying for budget devices! Great playing!
@@pathbeyond07 true.
Sounds good, but I’m curious, what gear do you use for your recordings?
Great guitar sound but it also got your breathing, i also think that there's a lot of noise coming in

Interesting idea, maybe when I have some free time for that.
would you recommend this or the newer tascam portacapture x6?
