- A very down and dirty, simple comparison of the Limited Edition "Dead Spec" Silver Sky to my first run Horizon Red USA Core Model. This model was sold before we even received it, but I got a couple hours with it before it had to go home.

Thank you!
Great video Ted! Look forward to more videos!
Thanks, DTP!
Those are my two fav silver sky's the horizon candy red and the dead spec. Though the dead spec is such a superior tone.@@tedspacagna
Gotta say, for me, I’m so used to my core model that it does everything I want and prefer it. With the dead spec I found myself wondering why I would ever have the preamp off.
Thanks. ..
Thank you!
does the dead spec have a satin or gloss neck?
I'd also like to know the answer to this question. I have one pre-ordered and so if no reply in the meantime, I will answer this for you when mine arrives, fingers crossed.
@@PoundMountain Thank you very much and I appreciate it. It looks like a satin neck from the pictures but can't tell 100%.
@@fendercs to me it strangely appears between satin and nitro. Most likely means a worn satin. Will get back.
If memory serves, it's not as glossy as a High gloss neck, but not quite a satin. It's been a few weeks sine I've had my hands on it though, and ive handled hundreds of guitars since then, so I can't say for sure...
@@fendercs Mine arrived. It seems more glossy than the maple neck Silver Sky i formerly owned, yet it doesn't feel as glossy as say a Fender gloss. It is, practically speaking, the perfect amount of "gloss" for my preference. A light gloss I'd call it.
Dead Spec wins.................
do you know the weight of that dead spec?
I never got the exact weight, but I’d guess it was in the high 6lb range. Not crazy lightweight, but pretty good for swamp ash and all the extra hardware.
Dead spec is vastly superior. I had a core, and I thought it sounded bland and sterile. The dead spec rectifies that.
If I held on to this one I’d be hard pressed to NOT use the preamp.
….I’m not sure which is worse….
