Actually Keanu Reeves was already a blockbuster star as Point Break, My Own Private Idaho, Speed, and Devil's Advocate, etc., all came out way before this film. Speed is what really put him on the map and made him a household name in '94. The Matrix is what made him a global superstar or leveled him up even more.
I'd hesitate to say he was a blockbuster star. In the 90s you could probably name 10-20 leading men who were bigger names than him before the Matrix. arnold schwarzenegger Sylvester Stallone Harrison Ford bruce willis brad pitt tom cruise denzel washington Nicholas cage kevin costner johnny depp robert deniro al pacino Pierce brosnan Michael Keaton val kilmer ed norton Liam Neeson Dicaprio had just done titanic Speed was a big movie but it was just one movie and he didn't do the sequel
Surely it was his stunning performance in 1993s "much ado about nothing"? Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, Kate Beckinsale, Richard Briers, Brian Blessed and Denzel Washington all performing Shakespeare to the highest level of thespian standards. And then there's Keanu reeves in it too. Doing his thing. It has to be seen to be believed. Unforgettable.
Man i was 13/14 when i saw this in theaters and it COMNPLETELY changed the way i view the world. It was like going in the theater and walking back out with a whole other perspective on life.

This movie was so influential, not just for its VFX feats, but also for its philosophical themes. Shortly after the film came out, University of Washington had an introductory philosophy course based on the Matrix.
a lot of the philosophical stuff, the morality/inevitability of AI, simulation theory, freedom of choice, reality vs non-reality, they're all pretty interesting to read about. this movie definitely introduced me to a lot of cool topics

When the heart stops beating, you are still alive until the brain dies. That kiss may have reminded him that he only died in a dream world and he still existed in the real world. Additionally, with the chemistry between them, his brain may have allowed his heart to be jump started by it. Nevertheless, with that scene I was more intrigued by what it accomplished-it fulfilled every prophecy in this movie: 1) Since Neo saved Morpheus, Neo had to die. 2) The one had to be born inside of the Matrix and he would disassociate himself from it, which he did-you know-after he died inside of it! And, 3)Neo wasn't truly the one until after he was born inside of the Matrix, so when Trinity realized how much she really cared for Neo when he died and kissed him, Neo's brain accepted the advance, simultaneously becoming THE ONE by being born inside of the Matrix, and thus becoming *the* *one* she was meant to fall in love with-the oNe and only, Neo. But yeah, while this was overall an amazing movie with innovative visuals, the sequel has one of the greatest action sequences in cinema history! It has since been beat, I'm sure, but at the time, it was unbelievable and still is, in my opinion! And finally, while the third one concludes the trilogy pretty solidly, I still think the first movie takes the top spot for me.
Also, based on the lore of "The Matrix: Resurrections," "The One" is both Neo AND Trinity. They are two halves of a whole, wich, from my PoV is fantastic because it turns "The One" into the power of a relationship between humans, not the power of a single human.
The way I imagined it was that when he "died" in the matrix, he discovered the difference between the matrix and the real, and he could control himself in both. You can see his initial realization in the dojo, "You think that's air you're breathing?" But it took until his avatar died before he realized that he could actually ignore the impacts of The Matrix on his body.
Also, notice that the Oracle tells Neo he isn’t the one, and says he’s waiting for “[his] next life, maybe.” He died and was reborn, becoming the one in his second life.
Well I mean the Oracle says it at the beginning when she first talks to him. "You have the gift but you're waiting on something. A next life perhaps." And it wasn't until neo died and was reborn that he became the one Like you said. But I remember hearing that on one of the next watch-throughs after my first time and realizing she pretty much told us what was going to happen
Imagine that this one was released 1999. We had almost never seen anything like this, the slow motion the mystery behind matrix and the amazing choreography. There's a mini documentary somewhere in RUclips that shows the process of making this movies. The cast were required to be able to understand and explain The Matrix, they read a lot of fiction and philosophical books. They really went all in that they decided to hire the Chinese martial arts choreographer and film director Yuen Woo-ping to work on fight scenes. The actors had to train hard for several months. This movie will forever be one of my favorites. Thank you MaJeliv family, love ya guys!
The crazy thing is....humans have been warning ourselves about AI for decades. Even before computers were a thing. Yet somehow we are STILL going down that path. I guess Agent Smith was correct. "Inevitable."
I was in my late 20's when I saw this in the theater. The build up to the movie was intense. The commercials for it were little more then teasers. The one teaser that got just about everyone was the clip with the quote "free your mind" and the giant leap across to the other skyscraper. Then the line.... "Woah!!" from Neo. No one at the time had a clue to what the Matrix was until they saw the movie in the theater. It was a wonderful experience.
In 1999 the most anticipated movie was The Phantom Menace. The Matrix was what I was hoping TPM would be. This movie was a game changer the way the original SW was in 1977.
I was working as a projectionist at a theater. We received our weekly batch of new ads and trailers by delivery. I opened it and recognized everything, except a very short teaser trailer for "The Matrix". I attached a leader and threaded the trailer on a projector and played it by itself. I said, "what the fuck is this?" Then I watched it again. Then again. Then, being frustrated by the quick cuts in the trailer, I took the film to the splicer table, turned on the light and went through it frame by frame. I've seen the movie countless times and it doesn't lose anything. It only gets better.
Mr Anderson is the day to day 9-5 yearly character. Neo is your creative personality trying to open his mind to any possibility at any age.. Genius film
Seeing you guys respond to scenes in this all these years later - the same way I did on first viewing - and not really have many issues with the effects, tells you how far ahead of the standard the Wachowskis were. Absolutely incredible. The coolest element of this is the subtle statement that they make around the fact that when AI eventually does take over our existence we won’t even recognize it because it will already know it has to control our perception in order for us to accept it. We are already seeing that today. I also believe this movie for better or worse helped launch a lot of present day tech conspiracy theories.
Yuen Woo Ping is the martial arts choreographer for The Matrix trilogy. His martial arts choreography and directory works are Iron Monkey, Drunken Master, The Ip Man movie series, Kung-fu Hustle, Jet Li's Fearless and more.
Also, One of Keanu Reeves' stunt double on the first film and stunt coordinator on the second and third was Chad Stahelski. Most known today for directing the John Wick franchise
The movie was a technical masterpiece in 1999. But what made it really stand out was the deep existential idea for the plot of the movie. Many movie-goers struggled to get the plot. It is a smart plot. And because of that, I think The Matrix would never have been greenlit today -- movie studios don't want to take any risk whatsoever anymore in making blockbuster movies that can have too complex plots. I'm happy the edgy 90's brought us this movie.
I saw this movie when it first came out and I still think, "glitch in the Matrix," when I get a dejavu. LoL. It stands up to time and is still trippy even after seeing it at least 30 times. Still great, still thought provoking.
I remember watching the Matrix as a young teen at the cinema. It was amazing! The action, vfx and whole concept of the matrix. It really was mind blowing. Me and my siblings loved it. Great to see you enjoy it even now as a family too.
Apparently no one really got the concept. Because if we turn the energy from the battery into money, and The Matrix into people's phones, where people believe they're living when really they're just allowing other people to live extravagant lives thanks to them wasting theirs watching artificial tiktok lives, or they're watching a big screen TV just to be convinced they need an even bigger screened TV, then this movie is already true. It's very meta to even watch it on a phone. And yes, I get the irony in even leaving this comment.
👍 for making an attempt, albeit, your perspective is from a locus within The Matrix. You must "think outside the box" in order to synthesize the concepts of theology, philosophy, and the simulation theory of theoretical physics.
The Matrix is the first movie where i saw the audience actually grew. When i went to see it, i missed another movie (showed up late) but thought the poster looked cool so i went and saw it by myself. There weren't a lot of people in the movie but when i convinced a friend to go see it a few days later, the theatre was packed. At least where i lived i think word of mouth got out and it was like nothing anyone had seen before.
Neo is an anagram of One, but the shocking realization that the people in the matrix who where sick, or disabled are probably fine in the pods but could be the reverse as well.
And Zyfer is Zero. One means in electronics something alive, ON state, conducting energy, the possibilities, and 0 Logic means the death or Low State of the system, the Nothing.
I love Matrix because i see it as a movie that's constantly trying to teach me to trust myself, believe in myself, and overcome my fears. Also I've always felt for Mouse when he was killed, glad to see you guys reacted to his death aswell - and the rest of the crew too. Switch was SO COOL.
Man, I remember watching this when it first came out and it BLEW ME AWAY!!! This movie changed how I viewed all movies going forward, as well as the world itself, it made you question reality. Your family offered a great reaction and I really appreciate you all sharing your experience with us all! Please watch the rest of the sequels, as they are ALL equally fantastic!
There is so much to look into details-wise that they put into this movie. You noticed the car ride. They shot the frame rate of the street outside the car at a different frame rate to inside the car so it didn’t “feel” right together but wasn’t different enough to draw *too much* attention to it The fact that when Neo was at work his suit is the same as the Agents suits (right down to the yellow lining) because as you learn later in the movie, until you’re unplugged, an agent can become anyone That’s just two of many.
49:39 that's the point in the whole movie, his mind is plugged to the matrix not his life. Trinity call him up to wake up, and the bullets are the proof to the audience, questioning why is he still alive.... bullets are not even real on the first place.
I was a hacker just like Neo in Sydney where this was shot at the time, i even used to frequent the Hellfire Club where neo followed the white rabbit to, and then got to work on the tail end of the 2nd and third films. So it's really great watching your reactions for me.
I will never forget watching this at the theater. We were all confused as to why she would risk her life to answer that phone in the beginning. And when the truth was revealed HOMG!! Everyone in the theater was in awe. I wish I could relive that experience. It was one of my favorite theater experiences.
A comparison for the youngs on the channel: Take the ripple effect that Arcane made in the industry recently and multiply it by 10x - This is how gigantic this movie was when it dropped. It's one of those movies that you need to watch again and again to grasp all the symbolism and philosophy. a mind blowing Masterpiece in every facet.
The point of this channel is watching all of their different reactions and seeing what they thought of the movie. I have been surprised a couple of times how they talk at the end
Neo wasn't brought back to life by "true love's first kiss." When a person's heart stops beating, there's a few minutes of dwindling brain activity before they die, so you can still hear things as your conciousness fades. Neo heard Trinity whispering to him, reminding him that his death wasn't real. Additionally, there is a fan theory that the cookie which the Oracle gave Neo was actually a software patch that activated when he was revived. Basically, for Neo to become The One, he had to enable cookies.
I was 18 when I watched that movie with my friends; never exited the cinema more hyped - perfect timing in life How does it happen? He gets shot like ten times; IN the Matrix! Not outside! Body can't live without the mind etc - so it's only a mental game, right - okay okay he flatlines, I'll give you that - but the prophecy!? Trinity falling in love, when the Oracle said THAT would happen to The One!? And then - the kiss of true love - the one thing - the one thing machines can't even pretend to understand
This is the best interpretation of the matrix film I have ever seen In any Movie Reaction Channels. It's great that there is a total of five of you, Because you guys can cover more in your thoughts in your review than just two people which is typical for the majority of movie reactive channels. I Was really impressed when you guys referenced "the veil" From a biblical context. That was a crucial observation. You acknowledged the reference between communication with God through the symbolism of the telephone, You alluded to the connection between the Trinity and Oneness with the believer, You referenced the connection between the blood of Christ and the red pill, The friction that emerges when a person begins to pursue things beyond the physical realm. You guys were on point, and it wasn't just one of you, every single one of you has something insightful to offer in your interpretation, And it wasn't just that it was insightful, it was accurate. There are many insightful interpretations that I have seen before that I don't believe are accurate although are understandable to see it that way, But you guys did an absolutely phenomenal job in interpreting this film, Better than I've ever seen before.
@@MaJeliv Same to you. All these things that you're learning from the film, if you guys keep discussing it and contemplating it, you'll pull out even more meaning because there's a LOT of really significant things to consider, such as acknowledging the fact that it is actually an anti-Christian source promoting Christianity 🤔, and it might even help you delve into the minds of the writers to not only know what it means, but why they would make these films to begin with, and even their roles in the world regarding what the Matrix represents. The rabbit hole goes very far. Love the closeness between all of you. God bless you and your family.
@@Bi0Dr01d The one thing I would correct (although you may have been implying this) is that the makers of the film aren't promoting christianity, but instead gnosticism. The first movie is much more honest to Christianity only because it's meant to sucker the audience into the gnostic messaging of the rest of the film.
@@blanktrigger8863 I would have to I guess "correct your correction". Don't get me wrong, they do have Gnostic connections in their views, such as promoting God as an evil character in The Matrix 2, for example, and yes, there is a sense in which gnosticism is implied, so I can't fully deny that, but there's still more nuance to the issue than that. Ultimately, Christianity is being "promoted", as into say, it's trying to tell everyone that Jesus is indeed God, and that the teachings of the scriptures that inform a person how to walk in faith and revelation, and even to perform miracles within their belief is all true. The message of the films as a whole is that although Jesus is God, and God exists, and everything we've been taught in Christianity is true, because God still has control to either reward us for doing good or punish us for doing evil, we therefore cannot make any choices outside of his control. The choice between good and evil Also has a dualistic nature in that it also implies both free will and determinism at the same time, All of which is encompassed in the red and blue pill. The message that they are trying to communicate is that instead of taking the red pill, or the blue pill, they are trying to combine both in order to create a "purple pill" which combines determinism and free will together in order to create a third option that is outside of God's system of control as a form of rebellion against him. Therefore, It's some type of satanic belief system being promoted while also simultaneously admitting Christianity is true. This might be done in some sense through "gnosticism", but I think it goes beyond that. This is why "the real world" in The Matrix Four is no longer called "Zion", It's called "I/O", which represents taking both the negative 🔵and positive 🔴 and combining them together to make the purple pill 🟣. It communicates that a person can tap into the supernatural both by applying the principles from the Bible and God and also applying principles from demonic sources and witchcraft to combine them together to make a rebellious system. There is even a scene in The Matrix 4 where Neo walks over the edge of the building, and just before this, you can see on the table near the crowd of people that there is a single pill with a red and blue capsule.
@@blanktrigger8863My response would be, "yes" and "no". In *The Matrix* films, there are intriguing connections to *Gnostic* themes. While some elements imply Gnosticism, there's more nuance at play. The overarching message is that Jesus is God, and Christian teachings hold true. However, the films also explore the tension between free will and determinism. The red and blue pills symbolize this dualistic choice. Interestingly, the films propose a "purple pill" - a fusion of determinism and free will, challenging God's control. This blend of satanic rebellion and acknowledgment of Christianity adds depth. Notably, in The Matrix 4, the real world is now "I/O," representing the synthesis of opposing forces: negative (🔵) and positive (🔴), yielding the purple pill (🟣). It communicates that a person can combine principles from the Bible that are holy and pure and mix them together with darker forms of tapping into the supernatural like witchcraft, for example, in order to create a rebellious supernatural system.
The Oracle told Neo the truth. One of them, Morpheus or him, would die. It was him who died, but he got resurrected. And when Neo said to the Oracle, "I'm not the One," she said simply "Sorry, kid..." and something like "Maybe you are waiting for something, perhaps another life," which was exactly what happened, as Neo only truly becomes the One when he comes back to life in the final scene.
You are so lucky. I cant imagine getting to watch this masterpiece for the first time.( all are outstanding especially part 2, which is so rare), the plot is right up there with the very best. A must see series before you die. I encourage you watch more as a family. You have a winning formula for reaction videos.
Did you catch the fact that the Oracle gave Neo a "cookie" (computer terms). She is a living program, just as the agents were anti-virus programs. There are more sentient programs in the Matrix in the future movies. She gives him other sweets in the future and I wonder how much of his capabilities she GAVE hims with cookies and sweets.
The saying "my way or the highway" doesn't mean the alternative is death, but to have to leave the situation. Either he accepts their terms or he gets out of the car and leaves.
Similar to "Hit the road" meaning "Get out of here". So, like you said, It's "Do it my way, or we're not doing it at all". In other contexts it could be getting fired, cancelling an event, etc.
I saw this in the theater when I was in grad school. I went in cold, with zero hype, knowing nothing about the film. Definitely had my mind blown! I must say, this film has aged VERY well. It's wild that you made that comment about this being the proof of concept for "Spiderman". That's literally what I said when I left the theater, and within two years Raimi pretty much made the exact movie I envisioned.
19 yo me walking out of the theater questioning reality, I could not stop thinking about it for about a week and watched it over a 100 times. I know all the lines lol.
When I first saw this in theaters....🤯 Mind....BLOWN! It actually made me question my reality. 😂 This movie is definitely a pop culture iconic film. The first 2 are my favorites. Enjoy the rabbithole journey..😅
Great review from you all. The writers intentionally wrote this screenplay as you described. I love everyone's different reaction & take on the film. This is why it's considered one of the best science fiction movies ever created.
I love the Agents fight choreography very simple precise strikes exactly like how a computer would fight you they dont need fancy footwork or tricks just sheer strength and unnervering accuracy
So... it was not True Love's kiss at the end, or rather, it was only from Trinity's perspective. You have to remember that Neo's journey as a hacker plugged into the Matrix becoming a hacker outside the Matrix that can "hack" the Matrix. Only 3 were shown to have superpowers: Morpheus, Trinity, and Neo. They were also shown early to be specifically well known hackers. Their "Superpower" is to rewrite the code of the Matrix. The "One" especially can do it consciously, at the end. His journey through the movie is to slowly realize that there is no spoon. At the end, Trinity is just the last catalyst to Neo realizing that the Matrix can't kill him if he rewrites the code. He was still alive. The body cannot survive without the mind, yet the mind is still alive. So, he was never dead.
Specifically, I mean the kiss was a physicality that Neo felt, making him realize that he wasn't dead. The Matrix is artificial. It can only "convince" you through the rules that you accept as real, that you are dead.
Some people forget 1927's Metropolis movie. That's probably the first film where AI tried to take over the world. Then there were about a dozen movies that people born after 1990 seem to forget from the 1940s to the early 1970s where AI either took control or the world was dominated by computers.
This movie literally changed global society, it was the 90s premonition of what the 2000s was going to be, to people in the 90s this was really dystopian, the idea that the way of life we knew would one day become a simulated rendition of it, that AI would govern our daily lives, but ironically, 25 years later, its happening in full effect and the younger generations are not even aware of it anymore. They embrace it for its superficial blue pill benefits. It is interesting to see how Gen Z and Y react to the messages of this movie, as it is kind of a reflection of society today, but through the lense of the Boomer and Milennial generations. Amazing review guys!
I'm so amazed that this movie still has the ability to change minds and open eyes even 20+ years later. Great reaction, girl in the middle was stressin out towards the end lol
What i remember from 99 is that the ad campaign for this was amazing. Nobody knew what this movie was about, just that it looked awesome. It was so good because we had no idea we were going to get a mini philosophy lecture along with amazing visuals.
This movie was just..amazing. I was 13; and unpacking it at that age was incredible. The réflexion it opens in your mind about the worldn philosophy, God, science, tech, human being, choice, perceptions….was unbelievable and then you add Kung fu??like what???😂🤣😂
The only reaction video I came across I believe -- I can see it in your faces, envy you guys getting to see it for the first time, wish I could, thanks for allowing me to sorta experience watching it for the first time again, this movie means the world to me
In the original script, that the studio didn’t think people would understand, the machines were using the plugged in human brains for computer processing, so unplugging them freed up that portion of their brain for them to use.
The first time i saw this movie in 1999 i had the same look that the kid on the left, man...eyes wide open, speechless and fascinated with every single scene. This was a cool reaction for an iconic movie!
To me as a kid(~13yo) I watched it when it came out on HBO or STARZ and just wanted to search the internet for things I didnt know about, and i wanted to be a hacker... it also introduced me to rage against the machine which is the band that made the song at the end when neo flies... it sent me to where I am today and changed my life exponentially
Notice how in the scene with Tom walking on the outside of the building and then when he gets picked up by the agents on the street, the cars are on the wrong side of the road facing the wrong direction. It’s shot in Australia but is meant to be a fictional random city in the United States. Glitch? Lol
I've heard the initial script had the Matrix using humans to augment its own computing power but some higher-ups felt the audience wouldn't grasp this concept. If true, they apparently never read or watched Sci-Fi because this concept has been seen in everything from The Twilight Zone to Star Trek and many Sci-Fi movies in between.
Also, Switch was supposed to be a trans character. Belinda McClory initially was supposed to do only the scenes inside the Matrix, the scenes aboard the Nebuchadnezzar being made by another (indisclosed) male actor. But some exec asked to ditch the idea because he found it "too confusing" for the 1999's audience and she had to do all the parts for the character they turned as androgynous as possible As Lilly Wachowski said later in an interview "the (corporate) world wasn't ready"
When it came out, there was nothing like it. After Trinity destroyed the cops in first scene, I remember standing up in the movie theater, completely and totally ready to fight. So good.
31:16 - To this day, I still refer to instances of Deja vu that I experience or if I see two almost identical things in the same place at the same time. Like two of the same model of car and in the same colour parked next to each other or something, as a "glitch in the matrix". Haha 😂
Still one of the best movie trailers made. No big action scenes spoiled and we walked in having no idea what the Matrix was or what the story was about. 👍🏾 I walked out with my mind blown and having not had that feeling since Star Wars of Game Changer.
Ahh man. this came out when i was like 15 and was instantly the coolest movie of our time. so cool to see that it still holds up. Enjoyed the reaction. Liked and subbed!
Hope you enjoyed your visit to Sydney, Australia. Outdoor scenes were all filmed there. 1) because it was cheap 2) because it was thought that a largely northern hemisphere audience (the main market) wouldn't see any landmarks they could recognize in the Matrix city-scape. With some clever camera angles and editing they achieved this. I grew up in Sydney and was fooled on my first viewing; on second and later viewings I can recognize some buildings. Also, if you look carefully in the very few down shots of streets, you can tell that cars on the ground are driving on the left. The 'girl in red' scene in front of the fountain was filmed at a famous spot in the Sydney CBD - Martin Place - a short walk to the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House - but again, the camera angles and editing were done carefully so as not to reveal anything that would identify the location.
Fun fact In the scene where Neo is on the edge of the building looking downside, you can see the cars driving on the right side. But some markings on the road are backward
There are many people looking at the kiss scene and saying: Oh this is a a 'the power of love moment' but there is another way of looking at this and that is that Trinity did not fully commit yet to loving Neo until that moment. From the moment she 'truly' committed to her love - that moment the prophecy became true and so he became truly Neo.
I was 14 years old when this came out in theaters. Saw it with my grandfather, who is a huge sci-fi nerd and introduced me to so many movies, from back to the future, flight of the navigator, explorers, terminator, star wars, star trek and so many more. I thought this movie was absolutely amazing.
U guys seem like a great family! This was my first video I watched from you guys and ur vibe and energy is amazing. Keep it up! Looking forward to seeing more content!

Sylvester Stallone
Harrison Ford
bruce willis
brad pitt
tom cruise
denzel washington
Nicholas cage
kevin costner
johnny depp

Same except I was at a sleepover at my friend’s house to play video games and his dad rented the matrix and our collective minds were blown.
The boys who shot up Columbine would also like to agree with you, you know, if they were still alive.

@@loucyx The Matrix 4 doesn't exist
The plot and the twist were one of the best kept secrets in film.
I named my son Neo, because of the impact of the movie to me!! LOL
Neo is a cool name
One of the most well made films.
Mr Anderson is the day to day 9-5 yearly character. Neo is your creative personality trying to open his mind to any possibility at any age.. Genius film
More like a representation of the law, which in this case is tyrannical

Seeing you guys respond to scenes in this all these years later - the same way I did on first viewing - and not really have many issues with the effects, tells you how far ahead of the standard the Wachowskis were. Absolutely incredible.
The coolest element of this is the subtle statement that they make around the fact that when AI eventually does take over our existence we won’t even recognize it because it will already know it has to control our perception in order for us to accept it. We are already seeing that today. I also believe this movie for better or worse helped launch a lot of present day tech conspiracy theories.
I say its not conspiracy, but inevitability. We humans are doomed to evolve through suffering, and machines can only enhance it.
I never saw anyone lose their cell phone - so that's a good thing.
Matrix Scenario is Inevitable, we eventually are going there.
When the Oracle gave Neo a cookie, it was a cookie file so that she can track his progress.
I saw this movie when it first came out and I still think, "glitch in the Matrix," when I get a dejavu. LoL.
It stands up to time and is still trippy even after seeing it at least 30 times. Still great, still thought provoking.
I see a black cat and I say 🤔 What kind of things will the machines have changed for me today
The cat will be back, and the cat will be back.
I remember watching the Matrix as a young teen at the cinema. It was amazing! The action, vfx and whole concept of the matrix. It really was mind blowing. Me and my siblings loved it. Great to see you enjoy it even now as a family too.
52:25 At the end of this movie in the movie theatre I just sat in my place and was like: Wow... :)
@@tsogobauggi8721 Lol! So did I and everyone else in the theater!

We love how movies can make us feel so many things in such a personal way. Thank you for sharing
Compliments to your parents, I honestly thought you were all siblings! 🤣❤
They shot the frame rate of the street outside the car at a different frame rate to inside the car so it didn’t “feel” right together but wasn’t different enough to draw *too much* attention to it
The fact that when Neo was at work his suit is the same as the Agents suits (right down to the yellow lining) because as you learn later in the movie, until you’re unplugged, an agent can become anyone
That’s just two of many.
The final comments/testimony by dad was beautiful.
49:39
that's the point in the whole movie, his mind is plugged to the matrix not his life.
I like how each of the kids experienced the movie differently. One was emotional, one quizzical, the other analytical.
I will never forget watching this at the theater. We were all confused as to why she would risk her life to answer that phone in the beginning. And when the truth was revealed HOMG!! Everyone in the theater was in awe. I wish I could relive that experience. It was one of my favorite theater experiences.
This movie was way ahead of its time and its a perfect projection of modern society.
Am 34 years old and I feel old already, I watched all the Matrix movies when they came out and they are one of my favorite trilogy.
"What is he doing?"
"He's beginning to believe."

You may or may not have caught it. In the car ride, Switch referred to neo as Coppertop. Then, Morpheus holds up a Duracell battery, a “Coppertop”
A comparison for the youngs on the channel: Take the ripple effect that Arcane made in the industry recently and multiply it by 10x - This is how gigantic this movie was when it dropped.
It's one of those movies that you need to watch again and again to grasp all the symbolism and philosophy. a mind blowing Masterpiece in every facet.
to be fair, this movie makes a lot more sense if you remember this is the era of dial up modems, which is why they can escape via phones
The point of this channel is watching all of their different reactions and seeing what they thought of the movie. I have been surprised a couple of times how they talk at the end
Father keep looks to his left, just enjoying the kid’s reactions 😂
Neo wasn't brought back to life by "true love's first kiss." When a person's heart stops beating, there's a few minutes of dwindling brain activity before they die, so you can still hear things as your conciousness fades. Neo heard Trinity whispering to him, reminding him that his death wasn't real. Additionally, there is a fan theory that the cookie which the Oracle gave Neo was actually a software patch that activated when he was revived. Basically, for Neo to become The One, he had to enable cookies.
the fight scenes in the first two movies are still the best fight scenes in any movie to this day
The Thing with Kurt Russell had special effects that were ahead of its time for over 10 years
when you realize Matrix came out in 1999. damn time flies
I was 18 when I watched that movie with my friends; never exited the cinema more hyped - perfect timing in life
How does it happen? He gets shot like ten times; IN the Matrix! Not outside! Body can't live without the mind etc - so it's only a mental game, right - okay okay he flatlines, I'll give you that - but the prophecy!? Trinity falling in love, when the Oracle said THAT would happen to The One!?
And then - the kiss of true love - the one thing - the one thing machines can't even pretend to understand
This movie has changed more perspectives than any other film ever
I'm torn between "wait WHAT???" & "Welcome to Wonderland" 😊❤🎉
Thank you so much for your support and I’m glad you could relate to some of our thoughts of the film. Many blessings!
LOL, the oracle asking Neo to accept a cookie before he can learn about the truth is SO whoosh.
This movie is so out there even its depth has depths.
9:05 Legend says that that Nokia 8110 survived the fall, and is still being used by a guy named Burt who makes really good hummus.
Exactly. LOL!
Probably one of the most important movies of the modern cinema.
19 yo me walking out of the theater questioning reality, I could not stop thinking about it for about a week and watched it over a 100 times. I know all the lines lol.
When I first saw this in theaters....🤯 Mind....BLOWN! It actually made me question my reality. 😂
This movie is definitely a pop culture iconic film.
The first 2 are my favorites.

Im glad the guy in the down right corner (black tshirt) understood most of it:) and followed the clues.
Great review from you all. The writers intentionally wrote this screenplay as you described. I love everyone's different reaction & take on the film. This is why it's considered one of the best science fiction movies ever created.
50:04 - "He won't have to dodge bullets."
And the Oracle said he was waiting for something, like a next life. Well, Neo died and came back to life!
Yep, Trinity reminded Neo that he was inside the Matrix when he was shot. So his brain was able to ignore being "shot."
I would love to see their reactions to the Animatrix shorts, it could enlight more about their discussion and thinking afterward
"My way or the highway" means "Either you do it my way or you can get lost."
The highway being the road that leads out of town.
That was a proud dad joke at 20:34…. Salute to that son👍🏽
Glitch? Lol
Can't wait! Absolutely love the Matrix
I've heard the initial script had the Matrix using humans to augment its own computing power but some higher-ups felt the audience wouldn't grasp this concept. If true, they apparently never read or watched Sci-Fi because this concept has been seen in everything from The Twilight Zone to Star Trek and many Sci-Fi movies in between.
the show was ahead of its time.. it's the equivalent of the internet now, which back then they weren't too... obsessed with the internet :p
Also, Switch was supposed to be a trans character.
Belinda McClory initially was supposed to do only the scenes inside the Matrix, the scenes aboard the Nebuchadnezzar being made by another (indisclosed) male actor. But some exec asked to ditch the idea because he found it "too confusing" for the 1999's audience and she had to do all the parts for the character they turned as androgynous as possible
As Lilly Wachowski said later in an interview "the (corporate) world wasn't ready"
The parents look as young as the kids. I didn’t even realize they were the parents until the end when you guys were talking.
Love watching ppl see The Matrix for the first time. Great reaction to this all time classic! Hope you do the other movies as well!
Remember being 14 and seeing this at the movies with family. Had No clue before going to see this what it was about.
It really cannot be over empathised how this was like nothing anyone had ever seen when it hit cinemas in ‘99. It was a global event.

I was 19 years old when this came out in the cinema. Totally blew my mind still brilliant today. Great reaction 👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯💯
Fun fact
In the scene where Neo is on the edge of the building looking downside, you can see the cars driving on the right side. But some markings on the road are backward
Yes, Hermeticism, Gnosticism and Marxism.
The Oracle makes him accept a cookie before they can move forward lol
The end credits song of this movie is Sanskrit prayer we used to sing in our school 😄
I saw this movie when i was 18 still the best scifi movie ever!!! Great reaction guys!
I’m really enjoying you guys’ reaction to this! I was a teen when I saw this and it is still my favorite and quotable movie till this day😊
Trinity’s kiss was the link to the real world that made his brain realise that just as there is no spoon, there are no bullets
One of my favourite movies of all time, Top10! Also loved your father's interpretation and share his exact sentiments!

Love to hear your grandfather showed you such monumental films! Thank you for sharing this with us. Peace!
I was 17 and got to see it for the first time at a drive in with my other high school friends. Was instantly mesmerized. Still one of my Top 3 films.
The Animatrix tells the story of how the AI takes over.
U guys seem like a great family! This was my first video I watched from you guys and ur vibe and energy is amazing. Keep it up! Looking forward to seeing more content!
I thought it was 5 siblings 😅😂 its 2 parents 3 kids. Awesome!! The parent's look really young.
