I worked with an engineer in Nashville who mixed a lot of projects at Starstruck. He used Sample Cell in ProTools to replace all of the drum sounds on a project because they were part of his sound. He never printed the sounds back to the master 48 track because they were ‘his sounds’ and if the label wanted a remix they would have to hire him again. I completely understand Teddy having a drive with ‘his samples’ because they were familiar to him and part of his sound as a producer. Good thing you had him back it up! So many didn’t think to do that.
@@fantastictalesofproaudio2391 Yes, but which was more expensive, backing up or losing everything? A producer of his caliber shouldn't have thought twice about backing up... those samples were what defined his style.
I had some studio time with the great Teddy :) He was blowing the speakers up with the biggest volume I've ever heard in any studios.
Yep
I really love your stories. Thanks so much for sharing them on this RUclips channel. I hope you’re feeling good today.
Glad you like them!

Back then backing up was expensive

Just because a client has money and it makes sense for them to spend it does not mean they will ;-)
