- Thousands of Hollywood actors are joining striking writers on the picket lines. SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher was spotted marching in California. After her fierey speech announcing the strike, "The Nanny" star is being compared to legendary union activist Norma Rae. The last time both the actors' and writers' unions were on strike was in 1960. This year’s strike is having an immediated impact on film and TV production. Inside Edition's Lisa Guerrero has more.

AI is non factor
Hollywood really jumped the gun with the move to AI. If they had waited another few years, the technology might have evolved to the point where they COULD have possibly replaced all these actors and writers with robots. But they made their intentions known too soon. AI might be evolving quickly, but it is NOWHERE NEAR sophisticated enough to write professional screenplays or produce realistic visual imagery and audio. TV and movie studios won't be able to make anything new without real human people, and while they can always fill the void with reality shows and game shows and whatever, they're still gonna lose a ton of viewers, 'cause most people aren't into those types of programs. It's not the early-mid 2000s anymore.
They can be replaced by independent studios and unknown EVERYONE

If you own a business then having that much money makes sense, but yeah.. what do you even do with 100 million dollars? Keep buying expensive cars, jewelry, boats, multiple homes? As you make more money, you tend to buy more expensive items, but 100 million is so much
This isn’t about the money for the actors, it’s about the pay for all of production who absolutely do not make that kind of money. Pay attention.

I don’t see either side giving up until the other gives in. Honestly not much good is even on tv anymore nowadays it’s just reboots, spinoffs, and shows that should have ended a long time ago ( for me the Simpsons is a prime example).

the main reason why these movies and shows suck is not really the writers fault, they have less time to write and cant really make changes like they used to. writers would be able to change lines if the actor didn't think that it fit the storyline as much or if the actor didn't like the line at all but now, writers cant do that.
to add on, the writers used to be in the writers room while the show was being produced. this did cost extra money to the companies but it was better for writer to be there while the show or movie was being filmed so if something didnt flow correctly, the writers could change it to make it better.
This is why I have Pluto tv. Can binge watch alot of good movies and shows on this app and I love it on my XBox.

Leaving the premiere of the film is very disrespectful to the crew that made that film possible. If u want 2 protest do that after the film premiere. The behind the camera crew deserves more credit than a writer does, cause without a camera crew, set design crews, vfx artists, stuntman/women the film would not happen.

Umm . . . aren't Reality Shows scripted as well? *==**==* Here's the thing, if you want to bring the business owners and executives to their knees, you're going to have to get viewers involved. Ask viewers to stop streaming, to write to the streaming companies to let them know that if the strike continues, they will cancel their subscriptions. To give them a time-limit as to when to cancel their subscriptions if the strike hasn't been happily resolved. Have all viewers set the same date for subscription cancelation. Have all of the viewers send their notice of the cancelation date to the streaming companies they have subscriptions with.

Sorry, but little sympathy for people letting themselves be duped into repeatedly voting for politicians and policies that have put them in this position.
As some have mentioned, we can live without entertainment, especially entertainment cheap in quality but expensive in price.
But we cannot live without making useful things, including the simple useful things like shoes and socks, with our own hands on our own soil; I would feel more sympathy for union workers on a factory floor.
This has nothing to do with politicians and everything to do with people running Hollywood 🤡
