Replying here so hopefully Adam sees, the gap in the intake will actually accelerate the velocity of the air while lowering the pressure. It's almost the exact same design as several piston aircraft engine exhausts and is very common on older aircrafts. It accelerates the air giving the turbo more air to compress for the engine. Works almost exactly the same as the venturi principal.

The middle section is unpainted but has added primer and a abbrasion resistant coating in the very center. The radiator cover portion you removed is actually referred to as a "cooling plate" and the center section has functional elements that push downward most in the middle and rub against the radiator core support.

11:40 no kidding as a android user having to use a stylis to take stock orders in notes then type them up in the truck with my wireless keyboard and mouse plugged into a usb hub that has hdmi out a travel monitor is so hard. Also steaming my desktop anywhere so i can play games anywhere on the road. I got in some trouble for having a sim setup in the passenger seat. I mean its a nerdy talking point with the shops what can i say 😂. This lil s23 ultra does alot.

@@pauliewalnuts240 yep. When u got grease monkeys pawing open boxes not everything survives. Also write to text. The shrink wrap on alot messes with the visual capture. Speech to text doesnt work around air tools. Also me and speech to text dont getalong very well and is just too slow. For quick text messages yeah its fine. It will flub up a word or two but i cant trust it to text my deaf sister.

The gap on the air tube is for allowing fresh air to be rammed into your air box but at the same time not allowing for water to enter into your air box and if it was to enter that front section it wouldn't technically suck it in because that pipe is not connected it's just a cheaper way of making something that they used to make with a drop down inside of the air box to prevent water getting in
Glad you also tried the Eventuri products, I just installed their intake on my Bmw M3 Competition g80 and I’m super happy with it, as I experienced the exact same butt dyno experience, a more snappy and responsive engine.
Sorry to hear that on the Corolla it didn’t make a noticeable difference in sound because on my bmw it truly did, now you can hear a clearer and louder turbo whistle under load/acceleration and some lovely “swiiish/swuuush” sounds when you get off the accelerator that the car with the stock intake never did.
And for new cars as mine which are obnoxiously silenced due to anti emission bullshit it’s a big win.

The upper tire bar is completely painted the body color. They paint that area black so it blends in with the upper sight shield and you don't see white through that opening.

Also, I totally agree, it does feel like you get more turbo spool at lower throttle input. Idk if this is a thing but I feel like it revs out to quick to get a full spool per gear at full throttle. It sounds weird I know but honestly that’s what it feels like. Half throttle at mid rpm range feels the best.

The black section is left black, because of the hole in the plastic shroud that allows the bonnet catch to come through. If it was white, you'd have all that black plastic with the white paint coming through from underneath it.
Android user, that's pretty cool, I didn't know the I phones could do that with the links. Android can sort of do that with Google lens but you have to take the photo first and then use Google lens on it. Y'all win this round.
