Really good idea that can be used in a lot of situations. I also like that you show how to do these things with minimal cheap tools. Uh, and Victorinox should hire you for ideas.
You can buy a 1/4 magnetic socket. You can also buy special base shortened bits along with a stripcarrier for them. The keychain bit is brilliant though.
Epoxy putty or JB Weld would be a good alternative to hot glue for slightly longer durability, just be sure it doesn't intrude into the other side of the socket, so there is still room for the bit. I agree with Mr. Fletcher, oil the screwdriver so it doesn't stick to the filler.
I really like your videos, thank you for sharing all your ideas. Part of the fun of using any multitool, but especially SAK’s is seeing what all you can do with them. Finding creative solutions or new ways of utilizing these already amazingly helpful tools. Even if a tip or trick doesn’t seem particularly plausible or applicable, it is possible and that makes it fun. Cheers!
I have been making these for a long time. I insert a small magnet in the adapter fill the adapter with J-B Weld coat the VIC screwdriver with spray cooking spray insert the screwdriver in the adapter and let dry overnight. I am going to make one using hot glue and see how I like it. It would be a lot easier to make with hot glue.
I think some models have the flathead driver designed to rest/lock at the 90 degree angle specifically to allow you to get more torque. Depends on the model, I guess.
Very cool storage idee for thay driver! Really like what you showed here. I personally just work with a leatherman, but I guess if you're a Vic guy, this is a great solution to some of the problems
Thanks for another cool idea for one of my favorite knives but could you tell me where you found you mini vise I have one that I use in fact it is pretty old actually an antique but I really like to get me one like yours that anvil horn would come in real handy and I could retire mine before it gets damaged and just put mine up to keep for an antique any help would be appreciated thanks again and keep the ideas coming 👍
I love this idea. Does the bead chain hold up to much stress? It seems a bit delicate. If it is fairly strong, it would be a great thing to dangle over the edge of your pocket to provide easy access to the knife, as a second benefit. It was driving me nuts watching the chained holding device flop around while you were driving the screws. Is there any chance that the chain and/or bit could be captured in some way by the corkscrew while the driver bit was being used, just to keep it a little more out of the way?
Is it possible to file down the tip of the combo tool into a useful 2d Phillips? (Like the one on the Swisscard) That is something I would try if you made a video showing how.
Try an epoxy putty instead of hot glue, pack and insert bottle opener just as you did. Appropriately prepare surfaces. Clean up is a little more involved but it will be stronger. Note: obviously remove can opener before it cures. A quick dip in acetone will decrease sticking to can opener. Jb weld steel stick would be good. Clean up with acetone, let putty cure.
I've never understood the fascination with jamming bits into multitools. They make for terrible screwdrivers, usually off centre, awkward handles, badly balanced, terrible bits (Leatherman). How much extra bulk or weight does a separate ratchet driver really add
another way woud be too drill the hole in the adapter. Thread some cord you could clip tp a carabiner or similar.. THEN add the glue... NO need for the extra bit and less chance of loosing it...
I thought that but more importantly I doubt the body of the knife will take high torque either. It’s only some rivets holding it together so you’d need to be a little careful in those situations.
I completely agree with you. Since the very concept of what is embedded in this tool is violated. But, you must agree that this idea has a right to be, since it is present in other multitools.
exactly, If I need EDC kit - bit + knive I'll just simply purchase the Victorinox variant with bit adapter including a few bits .. Lessons learnt - usage the tool designed for it's purpose instead this DIY. In case that one day you will really need them, it will make more mess than help.

If doing this hot glue mod at home, dip the screwdriver head in oil first.
Doing this right now...sooo simple!!!
You can buy a 1/4 magnetic socket.

you too

Very nice, this absolutely needs more views!

This is a great idea but BE CAREFUL. You can’t use much torque or you will bend/break your bottle opener & ruin the knife…
Or worse, bend the knife and prevent it from opening/closing any blades on that side. Clearly a low torque tool.
I think some models have the flathead driver designed to rest/lock at the 90 degree angle specifically to allow you to get more torque. Depends on the model, I guess.
With bits that can be cut with a hacksaw and drilled with a standard drill bit that's not going to happen.
Awesome do you have Instagram?
Great idea! That Dexter adapter fits perfect in the Victorinox 111mm slide lock bottle opener, without need of hot glue. Not in the liner lock version
really nice touch with the keyring
If you’re carrying around a set of bits why do you need this?
for example, i do carry in a very tiny box 4 bits along with my sak :)
@@PPMGunslingerhow about Cybertool - 4 tiny bits inside SAK 🙂
@@MrMyhalych i don't like it, too big and expensive for my needs, i prefer my Climber, but it's an option
@@PPMGunslinger fair enough :)
Guiltys343 - I was going to say the same thing. The bit set includes a better handle than the knife.
Very cool storage idee for thay driver! Really like what you showed here. I personally just work with a leatherman, but I guess if you're a Vic guy, this is a great solution to some of the problems
I done something similar. But without the glue. Yours is a much more elegant solution
Excelente idea Johny. Saludos!!
Swiss champ can use Leatherman bit driver on the screwdriver near to hook.
I have my sockets built into the handle. They store away very nicely
What type of Swiss army pocket knife is it i would like to know
Nice
in a pinch the flathead screwdriver on the can open can work on Philips head screws.
Take my Like good sir! I just ordered a magnetic socket after seeing this video.
You should be designing new knives/ multi-tools for sale. Your ideas are great.
Victorinox already selling the knive variant with bit adapter including a few bits ;-)
very helpful! Thank you for sharing.

What bit is this i ve so many but cannot figure out what is the right size
Great video.well done buddy
Info on the vise please.
Links to small pieces you used?
Question Where to buy the dexter lengthening bits 1\4" ? I couldn't find the link where you bought it, I would have it on Aliexpress ?
would this work well on a compact? i mean my combotool would not affect my knife on the same layer? thanks.
Cool Video 👍
Thank U for the Info 👍
Tôi ở Việt Nam rất thích những video thế này

Ist das victorinox handyman?
I was wondering if there is a better way of doing this? Because i think hot glue doesn't hold much force and strength. Great Idea tho.
outstanding

The can opener is already pretty good with Philips screws if you don't need too much strength.

Hello,
which one do you use most often and which one do you recommend?
Hallo. My favorite is "Ranger"
Genius!
Good way too vend or warp the blade
If u add that accesory or supplement to the bottle opener u can break it. It is not to use a lot of force.
Great vid, please don't drill holes like that in future, that was very uncomfortable to watch lol
When are you going to have bits around but not the accompanying driver/holder as well? Cool idea but doesn't seem practical
Driĺling through that bit would take an insurmountable period of time if it were made of anything, shall I say, worth its metal
C'est génial.
I've never understood the fascination with jamming bits into multitools. They make for terrible screwdrivers, usually off centre, awkward handles, badly balanced, terrible bits (Leatherman). How much extra bulk or weight does a separate ratchet driver really add
The pivots won't like the torque. Clever but the design is weak for such attachment imo.
another way woud be too drill the hole in the adapter. Thread some cord you could clip tp a carabiner or similar.. THEN add the glue... NO need for the extra bit and less chance of loosing it...
Just keep a bit driver in your pocket. And bits in your 5th pocket. Your idea is novel, but wouldn't handle any serious torque at all.
This idea was made by leatherman. I've used this sort of tool for years.😂
I need to start to careering my Swiss army knife agin
❤❤
It's amazing what people can come up with when they are bored out of their skin
Not bad but its dead weight for me. I use classic sd instead.
If I would have to carry that bit driver set around, why would I need that modification to my SAK?
📻⚡️🔨👺
no one convinces me hot glue will take torque
don't take torque, it only prevent the socket from falling
I thought that but more importantly I doubt the body of the knife will take high torque either. It’s only some rivets holding it together so you’d need to be a little careful in those situations.
Why ? Pointless you are never going to have the bits "in your pocket" and you have the bit driver in the kit?
Mime instead of narration. I guess that’s cheaping out.
It allows for a video that's easily understood regardless of what language the viewer speaks.
To be fair I prefer. Makes the video nice and relaxing to watch.
@:55 (in the background) thats how she leaves me every night 😩
😂 so you carry your screwdriver kit with your Swiss army knife ... 🤔 personally I don't understand. It is ridiculous
I completely agree with you. Since the very concept of what is embedded in this tool is violated. But, you must agree that this idea has a right to be, since it is present in other multitools.
Get one of those then

Works better on a drill...
Naw (head shaking)
Great idea but it is a lot of work when Someone could just buy the Cybertool instead. Thanks for posting
