Those singing in the shower scenes are everything!!! I'm on season 2 episode 4!!! Been binging since the weekend!!! Never heard of this show and it's GREAT!! Thanks for posting this great show!
These were so well-made! I just finished season 1 and I'm ready for more. Thanks for posting! I love seeing Jackie Cooper directed several episodes! Look up his military service.
out of all of the White Shadow episodes, "sudden death" means the most to me. I never got to play high school basketball. For me, it was because the coaches in my high school got their orgasmic high by cutting me even though I would practice on my own year after year to improve my game. To them, my dedication to the game meant nothing. [in my senior year, the coach even left 3 spots vacant without offering one to me even though he himself acknowledged how much work I had put in.] As such, I can really relay to the scene where Randy looks up to Coach Reeves in disappointment. sometimes, life is harsh. No matter how much work you put in, you will never accomplish your goal because of forces beyond your control. That's life.
@ John Fu Your right. Did you ever consider playing another sport in school? I remember going out for the 8th grade football team in my first year in high school. Our high school was 8th - 12th grade. I liked football but there was a lot of competition and I was such a small kid. I quit after the 2nd practice. I decided that cross country was the sport for me. I excelled in cross country and track all throughout my time in high school. Running came natural for me.
@@russelladams7134 Yes, I actually did. And I ended up competing in university for track. None of that, however, erases the scar the basketball coaches caused unto me.
Your "dedication to the game" SHOULD NOT and does not mean anything when it comes to making the roster. The coaches didn't "cause" any scar... they cut you because you weren't good enough despite however hard you think you worked. No coach excludes a worthy player, even if they don't like him... because they want to win. You don't deserve a spot on a team because you work hard, only because you are good enough to actually contribute. And I doubt you really put in hard work like serious players, even if you think you did. I would wake up at 5:30am, do an hour of ball handling and shooting drills, then go to breakfast, then another hour of drills after class before team practice. After team practice and dinner, I'd put in another hour of drills then extra conditioning. And the drills were game speed, intense, not shooting around. I sought out older, better players to challenge myself at the toughest courts. How hard did you REALLY work? Seems like your feelings were hurt because you felt entitled to a spot because you "worked hard" and years later you still complain like a child whose mommy didn't buy him a candy bar. Grow up and stop whining.
What memories The White Shadow brings while watching. I find myself thinking about Pete Rose and myself playing ball at that time. This show was just incredible and still holds up. Ken Howard didn't do a whole bunch of acting but you can bet I always knew his full name if he appeared somewhere.
Oh my god! I had forgotten about the big racquetball courts! those were awesome I mean I sucked at racquetball I spent most of my time trying to not get killed by the ball but I loved going for some stupid give me a bruise reason.
That first episode.. the kid who was a reporter named harold.. I thought was larenz Tate as a little kid but I checked his media page and he only would have been 5 years old or so .....I could have swore that was larenz Tate as a youngster LOL

He did "What's Happening Now" for another 3 years in the mid 80's. He went to college as well. But I don't think there were a lot of good roles for male AA actors in the late 80's, early 90's unless they were comedians or rappers. He worked behind the scenes in showbiz after WHN.
Its good to be aware of your "Blackness" but be aware when it goes overboard..there are usually underlying issues....at the end of the day we are hue-man and have to coexist in peace

A high school should be lucky to have a former pro 🏀 player to be the head coach.
My high school had former MLB player as Sex Ed teacher. I had other teacher so don't know a lot about him as teacher.
Haywood Nelson (Dewayne from What’s Happening) in an episode real cool. Sad result for his character though
