Does anyone on here remember the series, 'Room 222' back in 1969? In 1969 - 1970, I was in the 9th grade in Junior High School. I wonder why they call it Middle School today? I use to love watching 'Room 222' with 2 lead black characters, Lloyd Haynes and Denise Nicholas. I had a crush on Eric Laneuville. He was born in 1952 and I was born in 1955. Eric also was in 'Black Belt Jones' and he went on to be a Director of many television series like Thomas Carter and Kevin Hooks.
Do you remember when the network wasn't allowed to show a young guy shoot up in a hotel room, so they darkened the room & inferred what he was doing. I heard this on a director's cut on the series I bought on DVD
**The White Shadow** Those were the “Good ‘Ole Days” when Adolescents were down and out, but were willing to listen and understand, so that the “Negative Path” that they were headed to was prevented and they transformed themselves to be and do better in **Life**
I regularly watch this show as it first aired the year I graduated HS. I could relate every well to trials, tribulations and lessons learned from the show. RIP to those who've passed on.
Unfortunately, there are a few characters missing. Eric Kilpatrick (Curtis Jackson-Seasons 1& 2). Art Holliday (Eddie Franklin-Season 3). Robin Pearson Rose (Katie Donahue-Bill's wife and Ken's sister). Jason Bernard (Jim Willis-The Pilot Episode-no relation to Ed).
@@jmysterio100 Phil did have one episode dedicated to him. The team was at a party and somebody slipped drugs into his drink and he freaked out and then he had to clear his name that it wasn't his fault.
Wow I had so much love for this show growing up. The whole cast was great but Kevin Hooks was my first tv crush. RIP to those no longer with us. Also, so nice to see so many others have loved this show as much as me.
This started a trend of teams singing in the shower after practice. . My junior high team certainly mimicked the "White Shadow". Loved this show as I s O was a basketball addoct growing up.
I am 69 years old and I have Seasons 1 & 2 or the White Shadow. I knew I was homosexual back in 1979 because I had a big sexual crush on Morris Thorpe, Nick Vitaglia, and Ricky Gomez. I looked forward in watching 'The White Shadow' weekly because it was one of my favorite shows on television. I tell you, getting old and losing your looks is no fun. I went back to my 1973 high school 50th Reunion in 2023 and I was shocked at how all the good looking girls and boys back in the early 70's had gotten fat, the men were bald, and they were unrecognizable. Many high school classmates have died. It was good to see that some of the basketball cast members in the 'White Shadow' are still alive.
Ed Bernard was in the cast of POLICE WOMAN. Today 3 main cast members (Angie Dickinson, Earl Holliman, and Bernard) are still living age 85 or older, and Charles Dierkop died early this year at age 87. Jerry Fogel was the last living cast member of THE MOTHERS-IN-LAW (1967-69).
This show was before my time, but I’ve heard great things about it. I’m going to check it out the full eps on YT. Very groundbreaking show. Everyone aged very well it looks like. R.I.P. ken Howard ✊🏽
There were a lot of side characters. But after the second season, a big part of the team graduated high school and left the show and were replaced in the third season with almost a whole new cast. Most people remember the first 2 seasons.
I love watching this show in the 70s. Ken Howard wad so handsome. and a large cast, so many shows Starky and Hutch. Barretta, my mom's two favorite. and The Dukes of Hazzard. 😊
Fun fact: I was coaching a high school basketball team in 2006 and the referee was none other than Stoney Jackson. I turned around to my bench and told my team “Hey that’s Stoney Jackson “ of course I got blank stares back lol.
Team member Curtis Jackson was played by Erik Kilpatrick, still with us according to IMDB and Wikipedia. The episode where Curtis was killed was very powerful; at least it affected me deeply.
I was in the 10 th grade playing on the basketball team at Point Loma High School in San Diego when theWhite Shadow started in 1978. But we didn’t sing in the shower like Carver HS players did. Thomas Carter became a director and helmed Swing Kids , and Coach Carter and many other films. Tim Van Patten also became a director and Directed several episodes of The Sopranos. Wolfe Perry who joined the cast in season 3, was a star guard at Stanford and easily could have played in the NBA but decided to pursue an acting career instead. Robert Hooks also is a director. Wish we could have had a coach like Coach Reeves instead of the sadistic psychotic monster we had at PLHS.

Wait!!! Where’s Jackson?? One of the best episodes was when he couldn’t quite hitting the bottle and was a drunk. The scene 🎬 when he went to the locker room to have a drink and the lights came on and the entire team was there to catch him doing it. That scene was so real and dramatic back then for me as a kid.
