    Thanks for this! I actually thought that pumpkin farmers just plowed under the old pumpkins that no one bought and they just popped up the next year lol

    Thank you so much for this so hard to find pumpkin "farm" videos. Not backyard farming lol. Two things that would help is where your located? Also curious to know on how varieties are planted? Separating them or keeping them together.

      We are located in Woodland Washington. One section of the field is for snowball pumpkins which are small and white. These are very popular. Another section will be another standard jack o lantern pumpkin. Varieties are generally separated.

    I really like that Allis Chalmers in the background. Thinking about my future in small-scale farming, and it turns out an uncle JUST sold his narrow front WD45. What awful timing!

      @@FlanaganHomestead thanks for the wealth of information in the videos!
      I'm considering a lot of things at the moment and pumpkins are a prominent feature on the list. I didn't grow up farming, but it's been in the works for over a decade now.

    GREAT VIDEO ....DO YOU HAVE A DEER FENCE AROUND THE FIELDS YOU PLANT IN? HOW BIG A PROBLEM ARE DEER AND WOODCHUCKS?

    • @FlanaganHomestead
      @FlanaganHomestead  Год назад +1

      No fence. Deer have not been a big problem. Mice are the worst and in wet fall seasons worms come up and compromise the pumpkins

      @@rdk162 I really can’t speak to Pennsylvania and if there is one specific orange variety best for that region. Are you interested in other varieties as well. Fireball (orange and yellow stripe) and snowball are popular around here.

    This information is very helpful and informative for me . I am from Seattle , now I live in Woodstock Vermont . I am planning to buy 15 acres and plant pumpkins and corn . I am not sure how much of either I am going to plant the first year I kind of want to keep it small and under control. But then again I won't know till the tilling is underway. I was wondering how many acres the pumpkin patch is up to this year . Thank you for the wonderful video and good luck !!!

      Approximately 30 acres of pumpkins, will probably have to buy more as well from other growers. People have fallen in love with the white snowball pumpkins. Those with a traditional carving pumpkin keep most people happy.
