That was so nice of you Candice thinking of the Blue Jay! Jay deserves all the support that we can give! What a great tour of your trees and future plans for them!!

Thanks Nigel! I’m definitely getting restless for spring to get here!

Really interesting to hear what you said about people over-pruning trees in tiny pots that are still in early development. I see this all the time, and I always think 'give them a chance to grow'

Great information. Interesting and very useful, as usual. Thanks, keep growing

You are the best Candice! 🐦💙 Thank you so much for your support. 🙏 If I can prune a hospital plant I will do it just to make my self laugh. If I can even get just a photo with my phone I will do it! 😂🤣

Great update and it is typical that I missed this episode when it came out. I have been in contact with jay a few months ago but was not aware that he had gone in to hospital. As for your advice on pruning younger trees - spot on. I still have to stop myself from treating developing stock as a finished tree. We must all get our primary structure in place before we start looking for ramification and stuff. I have put so many of my earlier trees 'back' because of my eagerness to make them look like bonsai NOW. Cheers for this video Candice. God Bless

I found it easier to respect their growth stage if you get a large number of trees to work with 🤣

He can do it. I went through it. Jay is young and strong. Positive energy goes out to a great guy, Jay. Go to his last video and give him a great thumbs up to show your support.

That brown mini bean pot is fantastic. I bet you could make a nice mini geranium bonsai in it.

    • @Candice.BonsaiScience
      @Candice.BonsaiScience  Год назад +1

Which one? Can you time stamp which one your referring to Thomas? I am looking at getting a Fuschia and am interested in working with a geranium

@@Candice.BonsaiScience About 26 seconds into the video. Really a cool looking pot. If you do a Fushia, make sure it is the upright one and not the hanging basket type. There are two types. The hanging has the best-looking flowers whereas the upright just have the pale pink flowers. Overwintering the upright was hard for me in the dark basement. It did not make it. This spring I will go to Fasels and get the upright and try again. Geraniums do better in the basement and even flower. I have the small mini shown on the last video where I did the cutting and placed it in the mini pot and now starting to grow. With your skills you will be able to make one with no problem.

Very kind of you to mention Jay and rally support behind him. Your intro sounds like Monty Pythons quest for the holy grail with a spin 😆 Great brutalist pot on that "brute" too!
    "whats that?"
    'nothing.'
    "he says he's not dead."
    'yes he is.'
    "he says he's not"

I was interrupted while watching, as I often do, so dont be surprised if i add more to this comment later

Yes Monty Python because I’m that old 🤣. I also leave multiple comments many times as I watch someone’s video . . . because by the end I can’t remember all the things I wanted to say 🤣

My branches are probably too high to get to a sapsicle BUT when we are boiling down our Maple Syrup we do throw drizzles into the snow for Emily as it turns to candy 🤣

@@Candice.BonsaiScience Red Maple are one of the sweetest over the Sugar Maple. It is the frozen chards of sap off of the broken branches that froze and from the evaporation of hanging gives them the sweetest taste.
