Love this song for 32 years since I was 10 years old watching Heavy Metal on Cinemax
The Heavy Metal soundtrack was one of those formative albums that everyone resonated to! Love the movie, the Harry Canyon sequence in particular.
Can you believe I watched that movie when I was a ten year old kid? I was way too young to be watching such an animated movie but I did because I saw it in a tv listings on the local Albuquerque tv guide saying “Heavy Metal (1981) (fantasy) (3 stars) comic book sci-fi and fantasy stories set to rock music by Blue Oyster Cult and more. Voice of John Candy. (R)”.
I knew I had to watch it and I taped it with other cool adult animation movies like hey good Lookin, American Pop and Vampire Hunter D as all became faves of mine.
They with renting Pink Floyd The Wall we’re the first R rated animated movies I saw as a kid as seeing Hey Good looking, Heavy Metal and Vampire Hunter D along with Fantastic Planet were the first time I saw nudity in animation movies as a kid. Yet I did saw graphic violence in adult animation prior to 92 like Wizards, Watership down, fire and ice and plague dogs even liquid television. And I saw drug use in an animated film before with Rock and Rule which my parents taped me that movie off hbo when I was 5.
I also bought the vhs when it finally came to video and cd soundtrack at 14 then dvd in 2001 then blu in 2011 and two years ago on UHD 4K as the movie has looked or sounded better than ever, even one of my childhood animated crushes Taarna never looked hotter than in the highest definition, lol.
Harry Canyon great story so much like Blade Runner, Taxi Driver and Fifth Element in one.

I'd forgotten all about this one until I played on my Walkman last night! The original montage with the studio version had been removed by RUclips at some point, so I re-did it with the live version, which is fantastic. The Steely Girls always deliver :)
I know it shouldn't be, but it sounds like Steve Khan on guitar.
IIRC Steve Khan played on the studio version, with Dan Grolnick on piano. Not quite sure.
