Yeah, gotta disagree with you here Jeremy, Melissa McCarthy wasn't likeable.
Me too
Beans
I mostly agree with him but he was too nice to this movie. I think I actually liked it more when it was taking itself seriously than when it was trying to be funny, because I felt a lot of times, Melissa's character was trying to be funny at the expense of Jason's character. Let's face it, Identity Thiefs are simply unlikable and it's hard to empathize with them because they ruin people's lives for a living. You don't wanna see those people get away with shit, and here she was constantly getting away with shit via throat-punch and running. that running gag got old fast. overall, for a comedy, this movie is not that funny.
Beans
I haven't seen the movie only the clips but I can agree with the throat punch I really wish they could've added a few other moves Melissa could use
My favourite buddy road trip movie is Finding Nemo
Clever...I approve.
Finding Uncle Ben's killer in Spiderman 3
exactly
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates Melissa McCarthy... she's just not funny.
@
M. Victor Howard She was not bad in that movie Spy or The Boss trust me the worst actress ever in my opinion is Megan Fox.
Fuck you she funny
A quote from LSP sums up my feeling towards this movie. "I'm bored and I'm not having any fun." I have never have been so bored watching a movie until this film.
the orcs in the hobbit movies
YES. That and the Legolas love interest. (-_- )
I honestly hated this movie, didn't laugh once.
Same. I think it might've been one of the worst I've ever seen
FlametailHD I laughed once
Forced plot point that didn't need to be there: Emma Stone having a boyfriend in The Help. Pointless!
Beans
The queen turning into a bear in Brave
That's not really forced. Okay it could've been done differently but nevertheless it was a way to improve Merida and her mother's relationship.
one of the worst movies I have evr seen.
Beans
THE FACE AT 0:54 HOLY BAJEEZUS
Forced plot point: The Hurt Locker was one LOOOOOOOONG series of forced plot points. I know I'm going to break some hearts here, but let's be clear: this movie was not 1/10th as realistic as everyone (who never went to Iraq) celebrated it to be. That movie was one scene after another of soldiers doing a series of wildly stupid things (that you would never see over there in a combat situation because we don't train that way) and dramatic situations that are created as a result.
***** I guess I can't knock your reasoning. Avatar was over-hyped.
I liked Identity Thief, even if it does get a little too melodramatic somewhere near the end. Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman have some chemistry to work with, not the greatest chemistry, but their fine together. Although, there are some painfully useless and unnecessary plot devices and dramatic moments, as well as some equally hilarious moments at the same time. As a whole, Identity Thief is not the movie I recommend to others if their looking for an all out, non-stop laughs feature. But I had a pretty good time with it though.
Most Forced Plot Point in Any Movie I Hate: *ANY AND ALL ROMANCES SHOEHORNED INTO MY FUCKING ACTION FILMS*
Netherwolf6100 Except for Scott Pilgrim , That's the only action movie that i can think of where the Romance made sense and had a role in the action .
Talia Al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises!!
Dude,review Entourage,please!!! Love that show :)
literally the only time I've ever indefinitely disagreed with you
I think I saw up to the 3rd Harry Potter movie and in each instance I always felt there was a "Deus Es Machina" ready to save Harry's life at the worst possible moment. He was neither a great warrior nor a smart strategist, but a guy with good friends and A LOT of convinient luck.
why does everybody hate this movie? it is so funny!
+Gera WallStar I agree
IKR
Simple reason. Identity theft isn't funny.
All the added plot points in the Hobbit (The orcs chasing them, the fact that they imply they "need" to defeat Smaug, or he'll join the necromancer, Radaghast the brown...)
I wasn't talking about how the movies were received. Just the one scene with the Architect. It made sense in the context of the movie. He was the God analogy, appearing to Neo like the burning bush to Moses and delivering information vital to his quest. It was set up early on, so there was nothing forced about him.
On a side note: Anakin building C-3PO was unnecessary, I agree, but it was rumored long before Episode II Boba Fett was a carryover from the Clone Wars, so his appearance wasn't bad.
The whole "My daughter is sick" plot point in Spider-Man 3.
THE BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT!!!!!
*Accordian riff*
When Anakin decided to turn all evil in T-minus 1 second... Wah! "Join me." Okay...
AllXLuckyX7s 1st like 7 years later
The fact that Mr. Freeze needed to use priceless diamonds to power his machine that would eventually lead to getting a bunch of money in Batman and Robin
Wiser words have never been said, Jeremy. You're the reason why most of us, at least me, are on RUclips. AWESOMETACULAR review. (Not the rating, but you know what I meant).
I just felt like they pulled a Venom. (from spiderman three) They sprung a villain on us for the last 10 minutes of the movie, but tallia served no purpose. She stabbed batman, then crashed a truck and died. It was just a little rushed
I love watching these reviews after I've seen the movie - just as good as watching them before I see the movie and have those "aha! That's what Jeremy was talking about" moments lol
relatable.
sorry 4 being 8 years late...............
Jeremy just made me realize Jason Bateman played Pepper in Dodgeball! Mind=blown.
I've never been clear on which one is the higher rating between "good time no alcohol required" and "you're not gonna remember it in a couple days." Is there a video where he explains it?
Not sure how it's handled in the original novel, since I've yet to read it, but given the recent adaptation, I'm gonna have to say Marius and Cosette's love story in Les Miserables.
spiderman 3
They explained it in the film actually. Loki asks Thor how much dark energy their father had to conjure up to transport him there. Good enough explanation I'd say.
the killing off any character that will: become stronger/better that the main character, has the item/skill best suited for the event that is going on, become a leader and the list goes on and on. But that's my top quick picks.
Bruce's knee in TDKR.
His knee was fine in at the end of DTK, then he puts a brace on and it's never mentioned again, not even after bane throws him in a prison, so what was the point?
The Helicarrier is Sheild's not the Avengers, they fought with one another because at that point they didn't know, trust or like one another, and Hulk isn't invulnerable He rarely shows pain because rage is one hell of an anesthetic
I said it built up to that. The Architect's presence was there in the first film. When Neo finally met him, the Architect explained just what the hell was going on. Just because you didn't understand what the guy was talking about doesn't mean it was a forced scene. The appearance of an Alien in Prometheus? Now that was forced. It did nothing for the plot of that movie whereas the Architect did something for The Matrix.
While I'm here, I might as well tell you production of The Matrix Reloaded began in March 2001. Gloria Foster, who played the Oracle, died in September of that same year, though she obviously completed her scene with Neo in the park. By August of 2002, Reloaded and Revolutions were finished. Funny how they did all that when the movies weren't even written yet. :/
Genesis on man in a ledge a yessir!
everybody knew about that already....
Bravo, Jeremy, for the Entourage reference.
the telekinesis shit in Looper, really great time travel mechanics, awesome concept for a revenge flick. But they mention telekinetics once, for a second, then remind you an hour later before we find out that terribly written kid is a wizard or whatever.
The Resident Evil movies. "The games already have a plot and characters, but I wanna slo-mo my wife a bunch so....ALICE!"
You needed to add the subtext "AT MATINEE PRICE!"
Most forced plot point: Anakin and Padames love relationship in the star wars prequels
I was just voicing MY opinion. While you asked an offensive question based on my opinion, I made a conclusion based on his. Is there something wrong with that?
The fire in Woodview Terrace
Just a small correction: Batman chose Rachel, but the Joker switched the addresses.
Aren't you a full of sunshine! Telling random people you don't know to kill themselves, I'm sure you are a wonderful productive member of society. You win all the awards!
Jason Bateman in Smoking Aces, completely different there, also Paul, seeing him as a bdass FBI/MIB suit was awesome. but i see your point.
"What killed the dinosaurs? The ice age!"
Actually if you go back and look his body is burned too (or his suit at least they never show his body but its implying half of his body was burned).
As a child, Darth Vader built C-3PO. Then the Empire will be destroyed by Ewoks...
Alex is right. The idea of Talia being behind the whole thing is not bad per sei, but the fact that she appeared so late made it feel forced and unnecesary. She stoled Bane's thunder and did nothing to high the stakes. Bane could have done all she did and endup in a much more interesting final fight against Batman.
Jeremy jahns mentioning entourage has made my day
The Avengers's flying supercarrier. That entire segment of them fighting with each other just because they have to fight with each other. Plus, there's no real reason for it to be airborne considering Hulk's invulnerability.
the part in Star Wars a new hope where jabba the hutt talks with Han Solo
I completely agree that was probably the dumbest twist that people saw coming a year prior to the movies release and it seriously didn't need to happen. Plus it made Bane look like just another grunt soldier with no origin story.
Yeah but we still saw that coming like every other show with an unexpected team working together. The difference is, Banner unleashed Hulk because of the unnecessary flying aircraft carrier which was as shown, can easily destroyed.
The whole thing about Peters parents in that new Spider-Man remake. It just didn't seem like the movie knew if it was going to be important or not.
Identity Thief is the name of a Arkham City side quest.
Yes, I've seen the movie. I don't agree. Instead of turning Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliot) into a buffoon, he could have exchanged much of the same dialog. And there are plenty of scenes in which Jones Sr's character is there just to react to what Jones Jr does. Don't get me wrong, I like the movie, it's fine, I just think it was more an attempt to capitalize on Connery's popularity than to give Indiana's character more depth.
I can always tell the verdict of a movie by the thumbnail of your videos lol
I couldn't agree more. Her character was completely unnecessary and it really brought down bane for me. Cuz it was like he was just following orders. He wasn't the huge intelligent dictator he was put out to be
well thats true to a certain extent. but he ask spider-man to join him, ok to do what? rob banks take over new york or do a late night tv show where he and spider-man pull pranks? but you have a good point.
The relationship between Anakin and Padme in Episode Two and Three of the Star Wars prequels, even if they never happened
I think in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor is a demi-god because he is part of an advanced humanoid race that were worshiped as "gods" by more primitive Nordic tribes. Black Widow said, "They're BASICALLY gods," insinuating that they are not, but they have the indestructibility of them. So I believe calling them demi-gods was not incorrect on Tony's part, so no need to worry Jeremy!
i agree there, not like that would've won the fight either, since more would just pour out of the portal, which i assume would survive the blast, but the shield shadow dudes were scarred, and a little stupid XD and they were written that way, instead of being that way 'cuz plot' or something.
I agree Jeremy about Jason Bateman being in the new DBZ movie, BUT I think Will Ferrell would be a PERFECT Mr. Satan a.k.a Hercule (for those fans who watched the edited DBZ)!
I would have canceled my credit card and demanded a refund from my bank, and then changed my details, or am i missing the point of the movie?
hey Jeremy did you see john Flixter do an impression of you.?? it was a pretty good impression.
Anakin accidentally destroying a space station in episode 1, also C3PO having to be created by Anakin, and having anakin to be an 8 year old, and the pod race. And Jar Jar Binks. Wow there are so many forced plot points in Episode 1
Scarecrow in Batman: Arkham Asylum.
At no time in the game does Batman stop his pursuite of Joker, Ivy, Harley, or any of the actually villains to go after him. Even when he threatens to 'flood Gotham with his gas!', Batman is only there to witness his pathetic death because he was already on his way to see Croc. He's like a fly that buzzes around you while you're walking.
but this one was good in my opinion but i agree with u. wat was your opinion on the movie
*THE DARK KNIGHT RISES SPOILER THE DARK KNIGHT RISES SPOILER* (let's hope this helps the 2 people who didn't watch it)
The big reveal that Miranda is Talia Al Ghul. Yeah, this chick who appears in like,15 minutes on the movie is the big villain. Aren't you thrilled? Didn't you care so much about her before? And the revael makes Bane a glorified henchman, and he dies immediatly. It's like Nolan thought the plot would be too simple so he shoehorned that.
I love TDKR,but man,that pissed me off.
Jeremy, pal, how could you forget to mention Mike from Breaking Bad? He was so underused it was a crime lol. It felt like they put him in prison clothes, said "here say these lines from Breaking Bad and we will pay you".
Damn.
He left the rings on the pimp hand when he slapped up this flick!
The whole Pandorica story arc from Doctor Who felt really forced. Not exactly a movie but that's what I think of when I hear "forced plot points".
-"why would the T.A.R.D.I.S. explode?"
-"another question for another day" (*question gets ignored FOREVER)
All of The Avengers movie, first one that comes to mind. I'm a Marvel fanboy, coincidence that Thor lands on the Quinjet, that all the Chitauri die when the mothership goes down, that Selvig made Loki's staff the object to turn off the portal, that Cap jumped in front of the old man saving him from Loki, that Iron Man's Mark 8 caught him in mid-air. Waited for that movie for 5 years!!!!!!
Zarathos being a fallen angel in Ghost Rider 2.
Actually if you notice at the end of The Dark Knight Batman is running with a limp in his leg from the fall he had with Harvey Dent. But I do agree they should have just let that out of TDKR completely....
Bella's and Edward's FORCED obsession with each other. In addition to Venom in Spider-Man 3.
I agree to a certain amount. It felt it bit forced to hae Talia in the movie, when they totally could have gone the away with Bane with Ras Al Ghuls inherrent instead of Talias protector. But who knows might not have worked on the bigger scale. We can always sit behind our computer screen thinking that we could have done it 10 times better. At least that's what we think. I personally didn't mind Talia.
It's always weird to see Genesis Rodrigues. My mom basically named me after her. She didn't have a name for me and saw on TV that "El Puma" had a daughter named Genesis and she named me Genesis... lolx I love my name but it's weird seeing this chick and knowing to myself... I was in basic terms named after that girl. That aside I really liked this movie :D
yeah but at the time it didn't, 4 years ago when The Dark Knight was made, Rises wasn't even thought of, it was a forced plot point, that was later made useful, kinda
I agree with stealth wolf. Please oh please do the prestige..
most forced plot point: Batman & Robin.
I think a really unneccesary plot point was the death of Bucky in the Captain America movie. I mean, it was a good movie, and that part made me sad, but they spend like ten minutes discussing it and then it's gone. Kaput. Like magic.
The end part in every romance movie where the protagonist has to rush to the airport/train-station/harbour to profess their love to the emigrating love interest before it's too late, clean forgetting that such a thing as cellphones, email and Facebook exists.
Jason is technically a Human-Alien (Kryptonian) hybrid. He's a Humanoid-type of alien, so he can be attracted to the opposite sex: Lana, Lois and Cat Grant included. If he was an alien like Kilowog (from GL) maybe he'll have a harder time having a chick be attracted tyo him. But Kilowog has a good heart and is noble. Bottom line is Kal is Kryptonian and humanoid, there fore woman can be attracted to him and vice versa.
Good point my friend, i stand corrected :)
trouble with the curve plot point about the daughter job, I think that the movie would have been much better with out it, and also been able to focus more on a character who is very important to the end of the movie.
The romance plot in Enemy at the Gate.
You neglect the fact that the sequels(or at least scripts) for The Matrix weren't written until 2002. Movie ended without any hint at sequels and thus the existence of any new characters beyond those seen in the first movie. The Architect was added in the last possible second as a new character in an attempt of a plot twist, which was poorly written and barely explained. Even then he had no influence over anything in the Matrix, let alone Neo. He just created the Matrix. And talked gibberish
I want to see the Eclipse, the emperor's flagship that was still building.
The Rock: Yes, lets use an old British agent to break into a jail backwards because he did it when he was 30, along with a scientist to kill US Special Forces.
The Frenchman in the Matrix reloaded. Even though he was my favorite part of the movie they could have left him and his gang completely out and still had a cohesive movie. The keymaker could've been on the run from agents which would allow for his character to be more fleshed out as the last exile.
Emily Blunt sleeping with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Looper.... definitely could have taken that time to see Bruce Willis in the future doing some kickass Bruce Willis shit!!
As a matter of fact he had his own plan, or am I the only one seeing it? To destroy Batman and terrorize Gotham. Serving Talia on the side doesn't make him any lesser (I thought it did in the beginning). Talia just wanted balance to the world and by Bane's plan and the nuke it was the way to do that. They had their own plans but it was more powerful to join forces.
Venom being in Spider-Man 3, while there was already more than enough going on.
