    I tried to get my almost 80 yr old mother to get an EV. She never goes more than 100 miles max. She also hates getting gas and oil changes. I think it would be ideal for her.

      As long as she can charge at home it would be fantastic.
      I would recommend a Tesla with a Lithium Iron Phosphate pack so she can leave it charged at 100% all the time when not using it.

      @@cybertrk I didn’t realize the KIA didn’t have a lithium battery

    • @cybertrk
      @cybertrk 2 месяца назад

      @@duggydo the ev9 has a lithium manganese cobalt chemistry, lithium iron phosphate is better for low range drivers who would benefit from leaving their cars plugged in and topped off to 100% all the time.
      With lithium manganese colbalt you want to not charge above 80% ideally (most of the time)

    Good video . Would like to see you di same in winter with EV9 . Get your mom a lvl2 charger . Would been nice to have charged to 90-95 % and topped off before you left . Like you planned .

    This was a GREAT video.
    Your real world road trip that compared estimated range with end result, real world range was super helpful and insightful.
    Thanks for making this!

    Hey! Jill! The question is can I make it! It's on your mind every time you drive this wouldn't fit alot of drivers because you can't drive efficiently in traffic.

    • @cybertrk

      Driving in traffic is more efficient for EVs, not less

    Looks an amazing car Jill. We’ve got two cars. One a little 52 kWh BEV. Have covered 6000 miles in the just over 3 months we’ve had it. Zero issues. Is the infrastructure in the UK that much better?

    Good video, Jill. I like knowing that I could get to Chiraq without stopping IF I had an EV9. What do you think it would be with an F-150 Lightning or a Model Y? As a PU grad I wouldn’t mind if you acknowledged that Lafayette is Purdue country, the greatest university in the solar system (given how many people we have placed in space and in engineering).😀 Also, you drove to Fishers which is a premier suburb in the US according to Money Magazine; glad you didn’t go to Carmel where the pretentious snobs live.

      Haven’t ever driven the Model Y, but I do have a range video with the F150 Lightning in winter. That one was a nailbiter.

      It will be able to, but I don’t think it is able to yet. Original owners will get a converter before the vehicle eventually switches over to NACS charge port.

    Which Trim? AWD or RWD?

  • @jimharrison3552
    @jimharrison3552 2 месяца назад +3

    You left with the vehicle indicated that you have 309 miles of range, you drove 204 under the best condition, and you probably weight no more than 100 pounds, driving at the speed limit, then arriving the vehicle showing 67 miles left, with using 3% climate and 5% electronics, that leaves about 12% unaccounted for.

      The GT-Line model here that Jill drove is actually EPA rated at 270 miles, meaning her 204 mile trip with 63 miles of battery remaining is almost spot on. And with the display reading that she averaged 74mph during her trip, this is actually very impressive, since that speed is greater than the EPA's test cycle.

    • @jimharrison3552
      @jimharrison3552 2 месяца назад +1

      @@JDubbs07 If that's the case why did the vehicle indicated before the start of the trip that it had 304 miles of range?

    • @JDubbs07
      @JDubbs07 2 месяца назад

      @@jimharrison3552 range estimates (ICE or EV) are usually based off your last drive cycles, suggesting that at the slower, in-town driving Jill was likely most recently doing, upwards of 300 miles was possible. Per the video, not too long after she got on the highway the vehicle recalculated.
