- Trust me, it all made sense. It all made perfect sense. This is a very rational and practical decision.

Just catching up, I love it!
It's perfect! I love your enthusiasm for this car. Can't wait to see how it goes!
Happy Christmas!
And to you! Looking forward to getting stuck in on this one.
Can't wait to watch the progress on this! Im rhe beneficiary guy when you acquired the BX.
Merry Christmas! 🎄⛄🎅
I miss my BX, and my other BX... maybe I'll have another some day.
Had one of these 2011/12.. absolute great little vans, only got rid of it to buy bigger van, a mk5 Transit! ( also great vans) 👍 can't be many of those Extras around now. Can't wait to see how she gets on 😊
Stay tuned! More episodes definitely coming soon.
I like R5's and this looks great! Good luck & Merry Christmas!
And to you :D It's going to be a fun adventure!
Bought one of these on a whim about 25 years ago as a bit of a project unfortunately i had far too many other projects and after a couple of years and not much progress it had to go. Fast forward to today and and I've got even more cars. Just been looking my files of old receipts and i paid £180 in 1999 for the Renault Extra 1987 on D plate it ran and drove with 4 months MOT.
Wasn't stuff cheap in the 90s! Imagine paying £337 (according to the Bank of England inflation calculator) now for a 12 year old van with four months MoT.
This reminds me of a Ford Courier post bus I had some years ago. That was Royal Mail red so even the colour was similar.
Was that the old Fiesta based one? Not seen one of those since BT were using them with the grey livery in the 90s.
@@noexpensespentstudios Yes, Mk IV Fiesta.
I had owned one of those for about 10 years. Unfortunately about 8 months ago the rust got so bad on the roof and near the windows I had to scrap. Mine was a 1.2. I've still got a 1992 renault 5 I've had for about 5 years this year it needs a window front screen which too of my amazement is only 100 Euros new. from my local
It's pretty amazing how easy and cheap parts are for these, I'm not really used to that at all, normally it's a right palaver finding anything. Windscreens I've seen in the UK so far seem to be in the £200-300 range.
Fixing it up properly isn’t going to be a small job, but it’s definitely got potential as a keeper to run alongside the Princess. Something that offers a completely different set of capabilities and uses.
My only advice would be to make a thorough analysis and list of what needs fixing before you start, and be prepared to swing the axe if it’s going to be too much for you.
Depends on your level of 'properly' really. As long as it's functional and as safe as something like this can reasonably be, I reckon that's good enough. Going to the extent of restoring interior plastics and exterior paint is probably a level I won't be going to here.
@@noexpensespentstudiosFunctional and safe. Forget about cosmetics. Oh, and add an aftermarket temperature gauge. 😂
When it’s drivable then you’ll be able to enjoy the same kind of “flying filing cabinet” experience that you liked my Land-Rover to. 🤣🤣🤣
@@knackeredrovers It's true, this has all the refinement of a chest of drawers falling down a staircase, when it comes to noise inside.
Buying a van isn't a cheap option, like it used to be, but good luck with your new project. I hope the screen passes MOT requirements or its going to get costly.
It's only money right? What's it for if not spending. That's what I'm telling myself anyway. ;)
I brought a new screen for my renault 5 which is also the same screen for €100 new from my local parts dealer in Spain.
Merry Christmas 👍❤️. 2025 will be a great year for you I promise 🙏🏻
It had better be! 2024 has been An Year for sure. Hoping you enjoy what's left of it anyway.
Had a blue one atlas conversion 1.9D
Paid £50 for it owned it 14 year's
Drove all over the country did 60,000 miles in it
Sold it for a £1000
Never let me down
Idiot who i sold it to let a person that hated it
He got it failed badly on MOT
So they smashed it up and scraped it
As for your Van should have a lift up button under gear lever
Your van also has a Portsmouth reg so most probably Also an atlas conversion
Mine didn't have up and down suspension Just a double hinged ramp with lowered flood
That must have gone well with a 1.9D in it, if it's anything like the on they put in the Xantia it's a pretty good lump. This one has the lift up collar on the gear lever, it just doesn't seem to do anything so there's something funky going on there.
@noexpensespentstudios 1.9D was the Renault engine Citroen engine's are not the same engine
If I thrashed it empty I could get 85 out of it
But didn't do that often
Wanted to keep it going
Guy I bought it from had 3 other vans while I still had his £50 Renault hahaha
I'm a panel beater and welder by trade so the wramp was ideal for my welder
Mine had more Room than yours because it didn't have the suspension lifts
Also I rebuilt the screen frame on mine cut screen out rebuilt lower Wings bit on both rear sills
But engine And box was sweet
Always started I'd go anywhere in it and did on many occasions
Could put engine's in the back was Great
Is it for sale ? If so can i get 1st shout thanks
Not yet, but it will be next year all being well. Want to get it sorted and happy first and of course use it for what I bought it for. I'll be sure to announce when it's up for grabs, though there is already a short queue of interested people you'll have to join and I've only had it five minutes!
