I watched your video after my belt popped of.....I already knew the cause I ran over a stump it snag belt,,I Just needed to put back on. You seem like a nice fellow but, thank God i didn't take your advice. It really really easy. Just remove top cover them Jack up mover...hook engine pulley 1st....find the easiest pulley to get to leave belt off of that pulley save that for last. Unhook spring that is hooked to the tensioner........hook belt around that last pulley now the belt kinda tight get channelocks grab the spring and pull it to the existing hook. I didn't remove the deck a all. Only tools was 1/2 wrench to remove top plate and channelock....took 10 minutes
Honestly, this video was hard to watch. If it weren't for the replies before I would have been in an awful mess. I did look this all up on another site and all you need to do is remove the pulley idlers. Only one thing DID help me watching this, the fact that the deck plate can raise up.
Had the mower deck belt snap on mine. I agree, it doesn't seem like you'd need to drop the deck in order to replace the belt. However, I am having a heckuva time getting one of the spindles loosened so that I can get the belt in between the spindle and the guide.
I really wish you would show yourself actually doing it instead of flashing forward to it already being finished. I've got the belt replaced and in the correct positions with the tension Spring disconnected but the belt still won't go on the last one. It's like it's still too tight even with tension off. Someone please help my grass is out of control.
Thanks. I was confused watching this and then went to wikipedia. I have changed a belt on my Cub Cadet and dreaded pulling the deck out, if unnecessary. You are absolutely correct. I appreciate your post. It saved me a LOT of trouble.
I f you use a 3/8 ratchet you move the idler pulley to relieve the tension you can get the belt on without all of that B.S. Seriously who makes a video without knowing what to do?
only a true lover would marry this man

Fantastic, just helped me to fix the belt on the mower so can finish the job. Much appreciated the information!!
So, in regards to the belt...front, sides, back and carefully work it onto the pulley. Have you ever changed the blades? The 54" has 3.
You didn't show the diagram of the belt placement thanks dude

Hold the camera on one thing long enough to see it! Sheeeesh!
have you changed out the battery yet and if so how?
Disconnect the negative then positive terminal, then set in the new battery and connect the negative then positive wires

No haven't changed the battery yet. if you figure it out tag me in when do a video. Thanks Posting, Rev.
Shit. You didn't tell me to shut the engine off and kill the mower blades. I've lost all my fingers fingers
You don't have to remove the belt if it becomes loose.
You don't have to remove the whole deck to reroute the belt.

Thanks for the comment. It helped with the confusion.
Are you saying you don't have to take the deck of to put a new belt on?
