  • Jasta 11 continues its Bloody April campaign flying Albatros DIII fighters. In this mission they encounter new British aircraft, Se5's. The skill level of enemy pilots seems to have improved. Custom Albatros skins by gooseh. AI and damage mods by vonS.

Flying Albatros DIII. Still waiting for this to be released by IL-2 Flying Circus after nearly 5 years. One of the most important German fighters.

Kick back and watch the action.

For a second, I thought that the Albatros was an OAW built version.

I do love the streamlined elegance of the Albatross. Planes like the SE5 - although technically superior - look boxy and crude by comparison.

The Albatros is nearly all curves. Se5 straight lines and rectangles, like a coffin with wings. The Albatros reminds me of a swooping bird.

@@Raben3721 Absolutely. I've liked the Albatross's lines since making the Airfix kit of one as a teen. Agree, too about the SE5. When the film Aces High is shown those squared engines and fuselages are quite primitive looking. At least it is a WW1 plane, unlike the biplanes standing in for most of the German ones. There are Fokker monoplanes (that late in the war?) but I'm unsure if they're authentic. Nice video, cheers.

@@Clive697 Yeah I made those Airfix kits too. The sight of an Se5 shooting down a red Fokker Eindekker, very out of place. Some flying scenes in Aces High seem to have been reused from the Blue Max.

@@Raben3721 Yes, although a long time ago, I had the Albatross & BE2 (2-seater)? Airfix box set. I later made a number of Sopwith Camels but couldn't find more German planes. Hey, The Blue Max was another rare WW1 aerial war film from an odd (the enemy) perspective. Both decent films but both annoy accuracy purists/military nerds. Then again, not a lot of airworthy WW1 aircraft around when they were made. Both a lot better than the CGI'd Flyboys though. Cheers, will watch other vids of yours when I can.

@@Clive697 Airfix also had Roland CII, Fokker Dr1, Hannover CLIII. Revell had some WW1 kits back then too. At the moment I'm making a Revell 1/48 Albatros DIII. Mostly I build German planes, but I like early Nieuports too.

Great video. Thanks for posting but I still cant believe that even after creating Part 2 and Part 3 of Flying Circus, the AI is still as awful as it has always been. I dearly hope they sort this out once and for all and soon. I haven't played Flying Circus personally in ages simply due to this problem as it makes SP a not very immersive experience at all.

At least in RoF with mods you have to fly your plane to the limits. In Flying Circus it's too easy. The developer say AI is okay, no need to fix. FC has been out for almost 5 years, plenty of time to have done a lot better.

Just for reference, what are your computer specifications and settings?

Graphics, GeForce GTX 1660, Ram 16 Gb, CPU, Intel i5-12. Game setting are set max. You don't need great specs to run this as it's a game release in 2009.
